대륜계통의 자주색 반겹꽃 거베라 신품종 ‘Symphony’ A New High-yielding Standard Gerbera Cultivar ‘Symphony’ with Purple and Semi-double

국립원예특작과학원에서는 2010년 거베라 신품종 ‘Symphony’ 를 육성하였다. ‘Symphony’는 2006년 10월부터 2007년 2월까지 녹색 화심의 분홍색 반겹꽃 ‘Basic’과 흑 색 화심의 자주색 반겹꽃 ‘Mephisto’를 교배하여 얻은 185개체의 실생계통으로부터 2007년부터 2010년까지 4년 동안의 개화 및 생육특성검정을 거쳐 선발된 절화용 스 탠다드 거베라 품종이다. 심포니는 초세강건한 흑색 화심의 자주색(RHS, RPN66B) 반겹꽃 대륜계통이다. 꽃은 평균 직경이 11.8cm이고, 내부설상화 및 통상화의 직경 은 각각 6.6cm와 3.2cm이다. 외부설상화의 수가 68.4매 로 대조품종 ‘Mephisto’보다 13.2매 정도 더 많다. 꽃 대는 꽃목직경이 상부 4.4mm, 하부 6.6mm 정도로 굵 으며, 화경장은 50.7cm로 우수하다. 절화수명은 9.9일로 대조품종과 비슷하며, 연간 채화량은 50.1본/주로 대조품 종보다 2.6본/주 많은 다수성 품종이다.
A new gerbera cultivar ‘Symphony’ was bred by the National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science (NIHHS) in 2010. Pink flowered cultivar ‘Basic’, which has semi-double flower type and green center, and purple flowered cultivar ‘Mephisto’, which has single flower type and dark center, were crossed from Oct. 2006 to Feb. 2007. Among 185 off-springs from this cross, ‘Symphony’ was selected specially for the use of cut flower production after investigation of the phenotypic characteristic survey for four years (from 2007 to 2010). ‘Symphony’ was a vigorous standard gerbera cultivar with brilliant purple flower color (RHS, RPN66B) and black center disc floret. It had semi-double flower type. Its average flower diameter was 11.8 cm, and its inner ray floret and disc floret diameters were 6.6 cm and 3.2 cm, respectively. The number of outer ray floret was 68.4, approximately 13.2 more than the standard cultivar ‘Mephisto’. It had a thick peduncle width of which upper and lower part were 4.4 mm and 6.6 mm, respectively, and adequate peduncle height, 50.7 cm. The vase life of ‘Symphony’ was 9.9 days, similar with the standard cultivar. It’s average yield was 50.1 stems per plant, approximately 2.6 stems more than the standard cultivar.
