메타버스를 적용한 해기 교육 효과에 관한 설문 기반 연구 Survey-based Study on the Effectiveness of Metaverse-integrated Maritime Education

메타버스는 현실 세계가 확장된 가상 세계를 말하며, 상호 작용을 위한 교수·학습 플랫폼으로 수업에 활용되고 있다. 이는 현실 세계와 가상 세계가 적절하게 융합된 학습자 중심의 교육을 가능하게 하고 학습의 몰입감을 제공한다. 현재 메타버스를 적용한 해기 교 육 연구 사례가 드물며, 본 연구는 이러한 메타버스의 장점을 해기 교육에 적용했을 때 나타나는 효과를 학습 흥미도와 참여도, 학업 성 취도, 현장 실무 능력 측면에 적용하기 위함이다. 이에 해기 교육에 활용할 실감형 메타버스 해기 교육 프로그램을 제작하여 실제 B고등 학교에서 해기 교육을 수료 중인 기관과 학생 74명을 대상으로 수업을 실시하였다. 연구 결과는 학습 흥미도와 참여도, 학업 성취도, 현장 실무 능력 영역이 모두 향상되었으며, 특히 학업 성취도가 낮은 학생들의 성취도가 향상되어 전체적인 학업 성취도가 높아지는 효과를 확인하였다.
Metaverse refers to a virtual world that is an extension of the real world. It is now being used in classerooms as an interactive teaching and learning platform. This use enables learner-centered education that appropriately integrates the real and virtual worlds and provides immersive learning. This study aimed to validate the advantages of applying metaverse-based maritime education in terms of learning interest and participation, academic achievement, and practical field abilities. To this end, we created a realistic metaverse maritime education program to be used in classes and conducted classes with 74 students who were completing maritime education at B High School. The results of the study showed that learning interest and participation, academic achievements, and practical field abilities all improved; in particular, the performance of students with low academic achievement improved, confirming the effectiveness of the program in increasing overall academic achievement.
