쇼팽 발라드들의 형식적 “단일 연속 구조”
The “a single continuity-structure” of Chopin’s Ballades
본 논문은 쇼팽 발라드의 형식적 “단일 연속 구조”에 관한 연구로서 형식 구조를 분석하는 새로운 방법론으로 반복기법을 사용하고 있다. 새로운 반복기법의 체계는 병렬(juxtaposition), 대칭(symmetry), 순환(circulation)으로 분류되는데 본 논문에서 병렬반복은 동일하거나 약간의 변화가 가해진 상태 그리고 표면적으로 이질적인 것이 동일한 구조 안에서 동일한 화성 구조를 반복하는 경우로 분류된다. 대칭반복은 반복 주체가 반복되어 반복 대상과 서로 대칭을 형성하는 반복으로 이는 단일 대칭을 포함하여 2원적인 차원으로 나타나기도 한다. 순환반복은 일정한 부분이 주기적으로 재등장하는 반복을 의미하며 본 논문에서는 상대적으로 큰 단락들 간에 순환 주체가 장식되어 변주되거나 부가적인 부분이 동반되는 경우로 분류된다. 본 논문은 병렬, 대칭, 순환의 반복기법이 어떠한 상호 보완적 관계를 형성하며 형식적“단일 연속 구조”를 형성하는지에 관한 연구이다. 연구 결과 쇼팽의 발라드들에서는 반복기법 중 한 가지를 작품의 거시적 구조를 형성하는 주된 기법으로 사용하고 나머지는 이를 구성하는 부차적인 구성 원리로 작용함을 파악할 수 있었다. 반복기법의 분류에 의하면 쇼팽 발라드 4곡은 형식적 “단일 연속 구조”를 형성하는 공통점을 가지지만, 작품 38은 병렬 구조로, 작품 47은 2중적 대칭 구조로, 작품 23은 병렬반복으로 보완된 대칭 구조로, 작품 52는 형식 구조와 조성 구조가 모두 대칭을 형성하는 2원적 복합 대칭 구조로 이루어짐으로써 각기 고유한 “단일 연속 구조”를 형성함을 밝힐 수 있었다.
The present study explores the “a single continuity-structure” of Chopin’s Ballades. I construct a new viewpoint to study repetition as an important structural principle in the structures of these works. Structural principle of a new repetition technique is classifying ‘juxtaposition’, ‘symmetry’, ‘circulation’. The juxtaposition, symmetry, circulation repetitions, which were divided into ‘juxtaposition of uniform shape’ and ‘juxtaposition of distinctive shape’ and ‘symmetry of singleness level’ and ‘symmetry of between levels’ and ‘circulation to build additional part’ and ‘circulation to make variation’. I examined how those three types of repetition function and eventually support the formation of the structure in Chopin’s Ballades. I also analyzed what kind of similarity and difference were found in the “a single continuity-structure” of those four Chopin’s Ballades, which was formed by different repetition methods. Thus, each work is not as a kind of a fixed type, but as a development process. Chopin’s Ballades opus. 38. 47, 23, 52 were formed “a single continuity-structure” each of ‘juxtaposition structure’, ‘dual symmetry structure’, ‘symmetry structure with juxtaposition’, ‘complexes symmetry structure of multidimensional’.
