이 연구는『이것이 인간인가』를 소수자 문학의 가장 우수한 사례 가운데 하나로 읽으며, 우리 시대 소수자 문학의 가능성을 시사 받고자 한다.『이것이 인간인가』는 종교적 모티프가 풍부한 텍스트이다. 그러나 이 연구는 특정 모티프 보다는 인간의 존재, 신의 존재가 광범위하게 모독되는 종교적 상황을 더 주목했다. 이 논문에서 소수자 문학은 인간의 부재, 신의 부재, 나아가 문학 부재의 극한상황에서 탄생한 또 하나의 문학의 이름이다. 따라서 소수자 문학은 기존의 주류 문학에 대한 단순한 반동을 넘어 질적으로 새로운 문학이다. 이 시론은 레비가 단순히 소수자-‘이기’의 한 객체가 아니라, 소수자-‘되기’의 주인공이 되는 과정을 분석했다. 레비의 문제작은 단지 홀로코스트의 증언을 넘어 종교적 깊이에까지 닻을 내리고 있는 인간 존재의 심연에 대한 뛰어난 통찰과 물음으로 읽을 수 있다. 이처럼 소수자 문학의 가치는 결국, 문학이란 과연 무엇인가의 물음을 활성화하는 데 있다고 할 수 있다.

While reading If This Is a Man this essay intends to receive a preview for the possibility of minority literature as one of the outstanding case in our generation. If This Is a Man has abundant religious motifs. Rather than studying a specific motif, this paper focused on the religious situation in which the presence of human being and God are blasphemed. In this paper, minority literature is another name of literature which originated under the extreme environments of the absence of human being, God, and furthermore, literature. Qualitatively, the minority of literature is a new literature beyond the simple rebound against the canonized mainstream in existing literature. This essay analyzed the process of becoming a main character of minority-becoming, not a merely minority-being as an object. After all, the value of minority literature lies in activating what literature is all about.
