청각장애인의 시청각 매체인 TV이용에 있어서 문제가 되는 것은 소리를 들을 수 없기 때문 에 프로그램 내용의 이해도가 현저히 떨어진다는 것이다. 그 이해도를 증대시켜 접근의 편의성 을 높일 수 있는 연구의 필요성을 가지게 된다.
본 논문에서는 자막방송에 대해 자막을 자동으로 생성하는 방법을 제안하였다.

The hearing impaired have a substantially lower comprehension of audiovisual television programs due to their inability to hear sounds. Therefore, research was needed to improve their understanding by making these programs more accessible.
This thesis is based on a proposal to find a solution for automating closed captions.
