무용공연에서 무용수의 창조적 영역이 존재함에 따라 무용작품이 지니고 있는 미적 특성과 가치에 대한 올바른 인식과 이해와 관련하여 무용공연에서 무용수가 수행하는 미적 기능이 무 엇이며, 무용수의 창의적 역량을 개발하기 위해 고려되어야 할 요인들이 무엇인지에 대한 논의 는 매우 중요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 중요성에 따라 안무가-무용수-관객이라는 구성 요소를 중심으로 무용공연의 미적 의사전달체계와 특성을 살펴보고, 이를 토대로 무용공연에서 무용수가 수행하는 미적 기능을 분석하였다. 공연행위자로서 무용수를 통해 안무가의 안무메시 지가 메시지전달자로서 무용수를 통해 관객에게 전달되고 전달된 무용표현에 대해 관객이 미적 으로 반응하게 된다는 무용공연의 미적 전달체계는 비공연예술과는 달리 무용수라는 독특한 전 달매개체의 존재로 인해 전달과정에서 안무가-무용수 간의 비평적 이해, 그리고 무용수-관객 간 의 미적 상호작용이라는 두 가지 관계성이 발생된다. 이러한 미적 관계성에 따라 무용공연에서 무용수는 미적 가치의 전달, 미적 가치의 창조, 그리고 미적 표현의 구현이라는 상호 연계된 미 적 기능을 수행하며, 이러한 기능들이 어떻게 수행되는가에 따라 무용공연의 예술적 성공이 결 정된다. 무용공연에서 무용수가 수행하는 세 가지 기능은 무용수의 창조성을 요구한다는 점에서 무용수의 창조적 역량 개발에 대한 교육적 중요성은 매우 크다. 무용수의 창조성 개발을 위해서 는 무용규칙 및 관례 등 무용테크닉 습득, 그리고 미적 소양 제고를 위한 교육이 중요하다. 특 히 미적 개념과 특성에 대한 이해가 이러한 개념과 특성을 무용연습을 통해 무용표현으로 구현 함으로써 개발되고 증진된다는 점에서 미적 소양을 강화시키는 차원에서 진행되는 무용미학 교육은 그 자체가 독립적 분리되어 실시되기보다는 미적 표현을 위한 무용연습과 상호 결합되 어 수행되는 것이 보다 바람직한 것으로 판단된다.

As there exists the creative realm of the dancer in dance performance, it is necessary to analyze aesthetic functions of the dancer in dance performance and relevant elements related to the development of the dancer's creativeness, in order to properly understand aesthetic properties and values in dance works. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the aesthetic communication model and its characteristics in terms of the choreographer, the dancer and the audience. Based on the aesthetic communication system, this paper also analyzes aesthetic functions performed by the dancer in dance performance. There are two relationships among elements in the aesthetic communication system, critical interpretation between the choreographer and the dancer, and aesthetic interaction between the dancer and the audience. Through these relationships, aesthetic properties are created beyond the choreographic content presented by the choreographer. Additionally, the dancer performs three interrelated functions such as delivering aesthetic values, creating aesthetic values, and embodying aesthetic expression, in the aesthetic communication system. Because these functions performed by the dance demand the dancer's creativity, it is important to educate the dancer in order to develop the dancer's creativity. In this sense, it is necessary to educate not only the dancer in terms of dance technique including dance rules and conventions, but also aesthetic knowledge. Because understanding aesthetic concepts and properties is enhanced through embodying dance expression in dance practices, the education in dance aesthetics may be needed to combine with dance practices for aesthetic expression
