이 연구의 목적은 교정공무원의 교정이념 지향성이 조직몰입에 영향을 미치는지를 경험적으로 규명하는 것이다. 연구 자료는 2011년 1월 5일부터 1월 25일까지, 총 1,000부의 설문지를 배포하여 이 중 유효한 698부를 분석에 사용하였다. 종속변수는 조직몰입으로 정서적 몰입과 근속적 몰입으로 구성하였다. 독립변수는 업무특성으로 업무과부하, 역할갈등, 역할모호, 업무위험, 상관감독이며, 교정이념 지향성으로 처벌지향 교정이념과 교정교화지향 교정이념으로 구분하였다. 분석결과, 첫째, 업무특성 변수들 중 역할모호성과 적절한 상관감독이 교정공무원의 조직몰입을 형성하는 데 매우 중요하다는 것이다. 둘째, 교정이념 지향성이 교정공무원의 조직몰입에서 중요한 선행조건이라는 것이다. 교정교화지향 교정이념을 가진 교정공무원은 정서적 몰입 및 근속적 몰입과 매우 깊은 관계가 있었다. 이에 반해 처벌지향 교정이념을 가진 교정공무원은 통계적으로 조직몰입과 유의미한 관계를 가지고 있지 않았다.

The purpose of this study is to empirically examine whether correctional orientation of correctional officers impact their organizational commitment. For this purpose, a survey was conducted between January 5th to January 25th in 2011. A total of 1,000 surveys were handed out, and 698 of these that were deemed suitable for analysis were used. Dependent variable was organizational commitment, which consists of two sub-variables, affective commitment and work commitment. Independent variables are work environment variables, which are burn out, role conflict, role ambiguity, work dangerousness, supervision and correctional orientation. According to analysis, first, among work environment variables, role ambiguity and adequate supervision had important impact on organizational commitment. Second, correctional orientation is an important causal factor in organizational commitment. Rehabilitative correctional orientation was deeply related to affective commitment and work commitment. On the other hand, punitive correctional orientation had no significant relationship with organizational commitment.
