본 연구의 목적은 대학생 연령의 피험자들이 수정된 프로토콜(각 측정)을 이용하여 운동감각 처리과정에서 심리물리학적 감각 반응 정보를 활용하는 능력을 결정하는 것이다. 특히 본 연구는 그 능력을 정량화 하려고 시도하였고 첨가연속체나 대치연속체 이론에 의해 설명된 운동감각에 관한 심리물리학의 지각 연속체에 대하여 가능한 설명을 찾으려고 시도하였다. 본 연구는 피험자에게 눈가리개를 한 채 선형 정치 장비에서 거리와 위치(22, 44, 64도)를 구분하도록 요구된 2회의 실험으로 구성되었다. 7개의 표준 비교 조합들이 거리와 위치 움직임 각각에 대한 총 140번의 시도, 20분단에 대해 무선위로 제시되었다. 항상 자극 방법이 주관적 평형점, 최소감지차(JND), 항상오차, 그리고 웨버 비율(WR)을 결정하기 위해 활용되었다. 3개의 표준 거리와 위치 움직임에 대한 JND와 WR에 기초해서 이론적 구성에 관하여 결과들이 논의 되었다. 그 결과 거리와 위치 움직임은 첨가연속체이론에 의해 가장 잘 설명되는 것으로 나타났다. 각 측정은 물리적 자극과 심리학적 반응과의 관계를 검증하기 위해 이용되는 것이 적절한 것임이 증명되었다.

The purpose of this study was to describe the ability of college-aged individuals to utilize psychophysical sensory response information in kinesthetic processing using a modified protocol(angular measurement). specifically, this investigation attempted to quantify the ability and to discover a possible explanation for perceptual continua in psychophysics of kinesthesis which have been described by a prothetic or metathetic continuum. this study consisted of two experiments in which the subjects were required to make distinctions of location and extents(24, 44, or 64 degrees) on a linear positioning device while blindfolded. Seven standard comparison combinations were presented randomly over 20 blocks equalling a total of 140 trials for location and extent movements, respectively. The method of constant stimuli was utilized to determine the point of subjective equality, just noticeable difference, constant error, and Weber ratio. On the basis of JNDs and WRs for the three standard location and extent movements, results were discussed in terms of the theoretical constructs. Results indicated that location and extent movements can best be described by a metathetic continuum. The angular measurement has been demonstrated to be appropriate for use in testing the physical stimulus and psychological response relationship.
