張 維를 한국사부문학의 마지막 大家로 전제하고, 그의 작품 중에서도 주제의식에서 經世에 해당하는 7편을 묶어 논의하였다. 필자의 판단으로 장 유는 李奎報, 徐居正, 申光漢, 許 筠을 잇는 한국사부를 대표할 만한 辭賦家이다. 작품 수량으로는 그를 웃도는 사람들이 있지만 작품의 수준이나 사부문학사적인 면에서 볼 때 앞에서 언급된 네 사람을 빼고는 그를 능가할 사람이 없다는 판단이다.經世는 유가 사대부로서 갖춰야 할 사명의식이요, 윤리의식이다. 그래서 이 작품들에 나타난 주제의식은 바람직한 세계로의 지향이요, 세상의 비리와 부조리에 대한 비판이요, 그에 대한 울분과 개탄이다. 이러한 주제의식은 사부의 문학적 가치를 높인 작용을 했다. 사부의 형식적인 면도 주요 연구대상이다. 字句形式, 押韻, 構成 등의 체제적인 면을 중점적으로 다루었다.

Jangyu is a master writer in sabu who decorates the end of a history of Korean sabu literature in annals. Yi Kyubo, Seo Geojeong, Shin Kwanghan, and Heo Kyoon can be named as the greatest writers in Korean sabu and Jangyu deserves to be their successor. Since him, no other sabu work has been equal to theirs. His being the last in sabu means the decline of sabu genre. So his works don't reach the previous masters' works in quality and quantity. It is natural that the works in the decline are hardly better than those in the best days. So it is not connected directly with his personal ability. Like this, his works are inferior from artistic point but he doesn't yield to anyone else in terms of the sense of value. The general weaknesses in sabu genre, bluff or exaggeration, forced romance, flattery or hypocrisy and so on rarely can be seen in his works and it shows the literary truth of his works. Reflected his prudent and sober sense of theme, his position as a writer has to be spoken highly of.
