본 연구에서는 중등학교 학교장에게 요구되는 직무역량이 무엇인지 파악하고자 하였다. 이에 학교장의 직무 및 직무역량에 대해 살펴보았으며, 중등학교 학교장에게 요구되는 직무역량에 대해서도 탐구하였다. 문헌분석 및 전문가 FGI를 통해 기본 역량 17개와 전문 역량 24개, 총 41개의 직무역량을 도출하였으며, 도출된 역량들의 우선순위를 파악하기 위해 전국의 현직 중 등 교장 및 교감을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 최종 분석 대상 수는 729명으로, 중학교 대상 수는 452명, 고등학교 대상 수는 277명이었다. 수집된 자료는 Borich 요구도 분석과 The Locus for Focus 모형을 종합하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 기본 역량에서는 중학교와 고등학교 간 도출된 역량들이 유사하게 나타났으며, 대체로 사회변화에 대한 예측 및 대응과 관련된 역량들이 도출되었다. 전문 역량에서도 중학교 와 고등학교 간 도출된 역량들이 유사하게 나타났으나 고등학교 대상에서는 추가적으로 조직 개발 및 관리능력, 인적자원관리능력, 학교경영 실행 및 평가능력이 도출되었다. 본 연구는 실 제 학교장의 직무역량을 분석하고자 한 점에서 교장양성교육에 유용한 참고자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이라 기대되며, 향후 후속연구에서는 다양한 학교구성원들의 의견 반영 및 심층면담 등 을 통해 학교장의 직무역량에 대한 풍성한 논의를 이어가기를 기대한다
This study is trying to figure out job competencies of secondary school principals. For this, it searched for the jobs and job competencies of them, and explored them. It drew 41 competencies(17 basic and 24 professional) through literature analysis and FGI with professionals, and carried out the online survey targeting the whole incumbent principals and vice-principals for understanding the priorities. The number of samples for analyzing were 729(452 for middle and 277 for high) and those were analyzed using Borich needs analysis and The Locus for Focus model. As a result, the competencies between middle and high school were similar in the basic, and those were generally about the ability to predict and react to social changes. Also, the competencies between middle and high school were similar in the professional, but there were 3 additional competencies(the ability to develop and manage an organization, the ability to manage human resources, and the ability to administer and evaluate school) in the high school. This study which analyzed the job competencies of principals will be an useful material for the principal training education and it is hoped that follow-up studies will discuss more about the competencies through a diversity of members’ opinions and interviews.
