정부의 자전거이용 활성화 정책으로 우리나라의 자전거인구는 2015년 약 1,200만명에 이르는 것으로 추정되고 있으며 주 로 4대강 자전거도로와 하천을 중심으로 자전거도로의 건설이 이루어져 왔다. 최근에도 지자체들은 자전거도로 노선망을 지속적으로 확대, 확충하고 있지만 자전거도로의 열악한 사인물들과 주변환경을 고려하지 못한 낙후된 안내사인은 여전히 자전거 이용자들뿐만 아니라 자동차 운전자나 보행자들에게도 불편과 사고 위험성에 노출되어 있다. 이러한 문제점은 레저 및 스포츠를 목적으로 건설된 자전거도로와, 교통 및 생활을 목적으로 건설된 자전거도로의 접속구간이나 연계성 구간, 타 교통시설로의 연계구간과 같은 복잡한 구간에서는 더욱 심할 뿐 아니라 지자체 간의 통일되지 않은 자전거도로의 정책과 안내사인으로 인하여 이용자들에게 불편과 안전사고에 대한 위험을 주고 있는 상황이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 국내 자전거 도로 중 이용도가 높고 관찰하기 쉬운 서울의 한강과 안양천의 연결구간을 검토 대상지로 결정하였으며, 내용적으로는 자 전거도로에서 자전거 이용자들이 노면을 바라보게 되는 시선의 특징에 기인하여 자전거노면의 정보전달의 중요성을 인식 하였고, 그에 따른 기존의 노면표시 디자인에 대해 5명 정도의 이용자들과 대화형식으로 문제점을 살펴보았다. 그 중 노면 의 정보전달에서 그래픽요소를 기초로 한 시인성 측면의 개선이 필요하다는 결론에 따라 본 논문에서는 개선된 디자인 안 을 제시해 보고자 하였다. 이는 향후 자전거도로에서 안내사인 및 노면표시의 설계개선을 도모하여 자전거도로 이용자 모 두에게 정보 전달의 명확성과 효과를 극대화함으로서 안전과 이용성 향상을 목적으로 하였다.
In South Korea, the population of bicyclists is approximately 12,000,000 riders as of 2015 because of the government's policy to increase the use of bicycles by establishing bicycle roads along the four major rivers and streams. The local governments are continuously expanding the bicycle route networks. However, the current informational signs in these networks that do not consider the surroundings and the signboard put pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers at risk. These problems are not only still worse as for the intersections or the complex areas of the bicycle roads for sports, leisure, transportations and daily life as well as intersections of other transportation facilities but also put the users to risks result from nonunified policies and guide signs of bicycle roads among the local government. In this study, among the domestic bicycle roads, we decided that the intersections between Han River and Anyangcheon, which have high accessibilities and simple observation, are the proper area to implement the designs. Also we recognized the importance of the information delivery on the road surface based on the characteristics of the stance of people looking at the roads. Furthermore, we examined the problems about the road sign designs through a conversation with five bicycle road users. As a result, we decided to suggest an improved design because the visibility of the road surface signs, based on graphic primitive on the information delivery of the road surface, should be reviewed and improved. The purpose of this study is to increase the safety and the use of the bicycle roads by maximizing the clearness and effectiveness of the information delivery for all the bicycle users through the safety design modifications, such as improvements of bicycle information signs and road surface signs.
