본 논문에서 쇼팽이 동형진행 패턴을 변형시키는 과정을 구체적인 악곡의 문맥에서 살펴본다. 이렇게 변형된 동형진행은 ‘의사’(pseudo) 동형진행으로 부를 수 있는데, 넓은 범주의 동형진행에 포함될 수 있다고 본다. 필자는 쇼팽이 변형된 동형진행을 사용함으로써 얻으려고 했던 것이 무엇 일까를 추정해 본다. 작품분석을 통해 쇼팽이 엄격한 동형진행 기법을 따르는 대신 선택한 것은 반 음계적으로 움직이는 순차적인 선율진행(특히 윗성부에서)이라는 것을 보여준다.

This article examines Chopin's alteration of sequential patterns in the context of the particular works. Although these altered sequential progressions may be called as 'pseudo' sequences, they can be considered as being included in the broad category of sequences. I make an assumption about the composer's intention or motivation behind the modification of sequences. The analyses show that Chopin's pursuit in compensation for the strict sequential treatment is the chromatically moving melodic line, especially in the top voice.
