본 논문은 부뉴엘이 이미지와 상상력을 극단적으로 활용하여 그려낸 <안달루시아의 개>와 <황금시대>에 나타난 회화적 이미지의 저항적 의미를 탐구하고자 한다. 말하자면, 이는 초현실주의의 환각을 통해 드러난 시선이 어떻게 영화 속에서 왜곡된 이질적인 이미지들로 나타나는가를 밝혀 내는 것이다. 그의 반이성주의 및 반부르주아적 태도는 영화 속에서 각종 억압 체제를 비판하는 힘과 욕망으로 나타난다. 이렇듯, 그의 영화는 초현실주의의 영향, 자신의 신념, 그리고 풍부한 상상력에 기인한 것으로 볼 수 있다. 특히 초현실주의의 기법인 카다브르 엑스키(cadavre exquis)가 영화에 접목된 이중인화의 장면들은 기존의 질서를 전복하는 기능을 한다. <안달루시아의 개>와 <황금시대>는 꿈과 몽상에 기초한 환각의 서사로 이루어진 초현실적인 영화이다. 부뉴엘의 초현실주의적 미학 원리는 작가의 고유한 시선, 사회제도에 대한 강한 저항의 시선, 그리고 종교적 우상 숭배에 저항하는 신성 모독적인 종교적 시선에서 잘 나타난다. 이 세 가지 시선은 초현실성을 바탕으로 기존의 억압체제를 비판하는 저항의 수단이다. 그의 두 작품은 사회와 종교의 억압성을 비판하고 초현실적 시선으로 자신이 욕망하는 세계를 몽환적으로 그려낸 일련의 저항적 회화이다.

This paper aims to explore the ways in which pictorial images are resistantly expressed through the hallucination of surrealism in Luis Buñuel’s Andalusian Dog and The Golden Age. That it, it reveals how his vision functions to be a window through which these films reveal a heterogeneous combination of distorted images of the society. Attributed to the influence of surrealism along with his beliefs and his rich imagination, the films reflect his anti-rational and anti-bourgeois attitudes for criticizing various oppressive systems. In particular, the surrealist technique of cadavre exquis is applied to the film, while the scenes of double printing function to overturn the existing order. Andalusian Dog and The Golden Age are surreal films composed of hallucinatory narratives based on dreams. The surrealist aesthetic principle of Luis Buñuel is evident in the artist’s unique gaze as a means of criticizing the existing systems of social and religious oppression. These two films are composed of a series of resistive paintings in which while criticizing the dominant oppression of society, pay much more attention to dreaming of a hallucinatory world of his own desire.
