이 논문에서 필자는 에이전시(Agency) 신학의 가능성을 제시하였다. 에이전시 신학의 근간이 되는 에이전시 이론은 이성적인 영역과 초월적인 영역이 충돌하는 양극단의 갈등을 어떻게 해소할 수 있는 지를 보여줄 수 있다. 그래서 이 이론을 하나님과 세상을 연결하고 복음화 시키는 선교의 영역에 적용시켜보았다. 그런데 선교는 제국주의 역사를 지나오면서 많은 낙인이 찍히고 제국주의 앞잡이라는 오점을 남겼다. 지금도 선교사라는 말만 들어도 적개심을 드러내는 지역들이 많다. 이러한 선교의 약점을 극복하기 위해서 대안으로서 제시한 에이 전시 신학은 하나님과 인간 존재와 세상을 중심 아젠다(Agenda)로 삼고 주체와 객체를 잇는 연결 신학이요 세상에 나타난 문제들을 해결해 나가는 행동 신학이요 자기의 정체성을 분명히 하면서 세상을 변형시키기 위하여 보내진 사도적인 신학이다. 필자는 에이전시 신학이 기존 선교신학의 한계와 문제점들을 극복할 수 있는 새로운 패러다임을 제공할 수 있다고 믿는다.

This thesis presents a possibility of Agency Theology. Agency theory, which enables us to see the resolution to the problem of two extremes not only in the rational domain, but also with regard to the transcendent, has been applied in this thesis specifically in the area of mission. However, the history of imperialism has tainted mission, leading to the argument that mission is now a questionable value. Thus, as an alternative, this thesis presents Agency Theology which links God, human beings and the world. Agency Theology is a theology of connection, firstly, an action theology, which acts to solve concrete problems in the world and, secondly, an apostolate theology, which works continuously to transform the world with apostolicity. The writer believes that Agency Theology offers a new paradigm to overcome the problems and limitations of the existing mission theology.
