본고는 현행 문학교과서 수록 전후소설의 양상을 비판적으로 고찰하고 그 개선을 위한 대안을 제시하고자 한다. 현행 문학교과서 수록 양상 검토 결과 다음과 같은 문제점을 발견할 수 있었다. 첫째, 수록 작품의 적절성 문제이다. 이는 작품의 내용 및 형식의 차원에서 신중하게 고려해야 하는 문제이다. 둘째, 전후소설 을 수록하면서 전쟁과의 관련성을 최소화하려는 시도는 오히려 작품 이해를 방해하는 요인이 될 수 있다. 마지막으로, 역사와 문학의 관계를 일방적인 것처럼 오인하도록 유도한다는 점이다. 양자 간 상호 영향관 계를 보여준다고 하지만, 궁극적으로 문학의 현실 반영 가능성에 주목하도록 한다는 점에서 이러한 학습활 동이나 학습목표 설정은 재고할 필요가 있다. 전후소설의 외연과 내포를 확장한 개념으로서의 분단소설은 현상으로서의 전쟁과 그 극복의 메시지를 함께 제시하고 있다는 점에서 통일문학교육 제재로 적합하다. 본고는 전쟁 및 분단의 모순을 반영하고 극복할 가능성을 보여줌으로써 현행 문학교과서의 문제를 해결할 대안으로 전성태의 ｢성묘｣를 제시하고자 한다. 이 작품은 기존 분단문학의 문법을 계승하면서도 새로운 서사적 시도를 보여준다. 전쟁과 분단을 현재의 일상으로 인식하는 방식, 과거사의 비극을 장면화하면서 동시에 도식적인 결말로 나아가지 않으려는 노력, 분단과 통일을 현재의 관점에서 이해하려는 접근 태도 등이 이 작품의 변별점이라 할 수 있다. 특히 교과서 제재 선정 기준을 고려할 때 ｢성묘｣는 교과서 분단소 설 제재로서의 요건을 충족한 작품으로 보인다. 문학상 수상의 이력, 서사적 구성과 표현의 탁월성, 학습자 들에게 전쟁과 분단의 문제를 일상적인 차원으로 인식하도록 유도하는 방식, 통일 시대를 대비한 화해와 치유의 주제의식 등은 이 작품을 교과서 제재로 선정하는 데 충분하고 중요한 근거가 될 것이다.

This paper aims to critically examine the aspects of post-war novels in current literature textbooks and suggest alternatives for improvement. A review of the current literature collection in textbooks revealed the following problems. First, there is a question regarding the adequacy of literature works. This question requires careful consideration in terms of the content and form of literature work. Second, an attempt to minimize the connection with war when including post-war novels can result in hindering the understanding of works. Finally, the relationship between history and literature can be misunderstood as one-sided. It is necessary to reconsider learning activities and goal setting in that they show a mutual relationship between history and literature, and they ultimately pay attention to the possibility of reflecting the reality of literature. Korean division novels, as a concept where the post-war novels and connotations are expanded, are suitable as a sanction for unification literature education as they present war as a phenomenon and as a message of overcoming it. To solve the problems of current textbooks, this paper suggests Seongmyo by Jeon Seongtae as an alternative, as it shows the possibility of overcoming the contradiction between war and division. This work, while keeping the grammar of traditional Korean division novels, shows a new narrative attempt. The distinction of this work is in its way of perceiving war and division as matters of present daily life, its effort not to make the tragic history of the past while at the same time trying to avoid a schematic ending, and its approach to understanding the division and unification from a present perspective. Given the selection criteria for textbook sanctions, in particular, Seongmyo seems to be the work that satisfies the requirements for textbook division novels. Its history of winning literature awards, excellent narrative composition and expressions, the way to induce the learners to recognize the problems of war and division on a daily level, and the consciousness of reconciliation and healing for the unification are a sufficient and important basis for the selection.
