The p-type semiconductor thermoelectric materials were fabricated by melting, milling and sintering process and their thermoelectric properties were characterized. The compound materials were ball-milled with milling time and the powders were sintered by spark plasma sintering process. The ball milled powders had equiaxial shape and approedmately in size. The figure of meritz of sintered thermoelectric materials decreased with milling time because of lowered electrical resistivity. The thermoelectric properties of materials have been discussed in terms of electrical property with ball mill process.

In the present study, the focus is on the effect of cobalt oxide powder in the carbothermal reduction of the titanium-cobalt-oxygen based oxide powder by solid carbon for the optimizing synthesis process of ultra fine TiC/Co composite powder. The titanium-cobalt-oxygen based oxide powder was prepared by the combination of the spray drying and desalting processes using the titanium dioxide powder and cobalt nitrate as the raw materials. The titanium-cobalt-oxygen based oxide powder was mixed with carbon black, and then this mixture was carbothermally reduced under flowing argon atmosphere. Changes in the phase structure and thermal gravity of the mixture during carbothermal reduction were analysed using XRD and TGA. Titanium-cobalt-oxygen based oxide powder desalted at had a mixture of . And the one desalted at had a mixture of . In the case of the former powder, the reduction of cobalt oxide powder in the titanium-cobalt-oxygen based oxide powder occurred at lower temperature than the latter one. However, the carbothermal reduction of titanium dioxide powder in the titanium-cobalt-oxygen based oxide powder with a mixture of occurred at higher temperature than the one with a mixture of . And also, the former powder showed a lower TiC formation ability than the latter one.

In the present study, the focus is on the analysis of the effect of the mold dimensions on the temperature distribution of a die during plasma activated sintering. The temperature distribution of a cylindrical mold with various dimensions was measured using K-type thermocouples. The temperature homogeneity of the die was studied based on the direction and dimensions of the die. A temperature gradient existed in the radial direction of the die during the plasma activated sintering. Also, the magnitude of the temperature gradient was increased with increasing sintering temperature. In the longitudinal direction, however, there was no temperature gradient. The temperature gradient of the die in the radial direction strongly depended on a ratio of die volume to punch area

Lee, Gil-Jae. 2004. A Sociolinguistic Research on the Restructuring of Declension and Inflection Stems in Naju Dialect. The Sociolinguistic Journal of Korea, 12(1). This research investigates, by examining the synchronic distribution of linguistic variants across social classes, the directions and the social implications of the restructuring of the declension and inflection stems in Naju dialect. Past research of the restructuring of the stems has been focused only on the synchronic variation which reflects the last phase of linguistic change. For example, the conclusion of past research that ‘the ᄃ-irregular inflected words’ have been restructured to ‘Xㄹㆆ’ or ‘X’ has not shown restructuring processes but only the results of linguistic change. In other words, the restructured ‘Xㄹㆆ’ or ‘X ’ only shows linguistic variation, but it does not explain what it means in the linguistic society and its social meaning. Furthermore, even if the simplification is a general tendency of restructuring, the results of past research cannot prove what variants would survive at the next phase. This study, accordingly, examines the stem restructuring processes and the directions of transformation concentrating on the nouns with stem endings ‘ㅈ, ㅊ, ㅌ’ and the inflected words with stem endings ‘ㅅ, ㄷ’ in Naju dialect.

The oxidation behavior of 91 WC-9Co hardmetal in weight percentage has been studied in the present work as a part of the development of recycling process. The morphological and compositional changes of the WC-Co hardmetal with oxidation time at 90 were analyzed by using surface observation and X-ray diffraction. respective]y. As the oxidation time increased, the WC-Co hardmetal was continuously expanded to form porous oxide mixtures of and . The morphology of porous oxide mixture was basically dependent on initial shape of the WC-Co hardmetal. From thermo-gravimetric (TG) analysis, it was found that the oxidation rate was increased with increasing oxidation temperature and oxygen content in the flowing atmospheric gas. The fraction of oxidation versus time curves showed S-curve relationship at a given of oxidation temperature. These oxidation behaviors of the WC-Co hardmetal were discussed in terms of previously proposed kinetic models.

In the present study, the focus is on the synthesis of titanium carbide/cobalt composite powder by the spray thermal conversion process using metallic salt solution as the raw materials. Two types of oxide powders of Ti-Co-O system were prepared by the spray drying of two types of metallic salt solutions : titanium chloride-cobalt nitrate and powder-cobalt nitrate solutions. These oxide powders were mixed with carbon black, and then these mixtures were carbothermal reduced under a flowing argon atmosphere. The changes in the phase structure and thermal gravity of the mixtures during carbothermal reduction were analysed using XRD and TG-DTA. In the case of using the titanium chloride-cobalt nitrate solution, it could not be obtained TiC/Co composite powder due to contamination of the impurities during the spray drying of the solution. However, in tile case of using the powder-cobalt nitrate scullion, TiC-15 wt. %Co composite powder could be synthesized by the spray thermal conversion process. The synthesized TiC-15 wt. %Co composite powder at 120 for 2 hours has average particle size of 150 nm.

To investigate the effect of the parameters of the plasma arc discharge process on the particle formation and particle characteristics of the iron nano powder, the chamber pressure, input current and the hydrogen volume fraction in the powder synthesis atmosphere were changed. The particle size and phase structure of the synthesized iron powder were studied using the FE-SEM, FE-TEM and XRD. The synthesized iron powder particle had a core-shell structure composed of the crystalline -Fe in the core and the crystalline in the shell. The powder generation rate and particle size mainly depended on the hydrogen volume fraction in the powder synthesis atmosphere. The particle size increased simultaneously with increasing the hydrogen volume fraction from 10% to 50%, and it ranged from about 45nm to 130 nm.

To investigate the fabrication possibility of a polymer particle dispersed metal matrix composite, polytetrafluorothylene (PTFE) particles were incorporated into the Al by the powder metallurgy process. The characteristics of a PTFE/Al composite were evaluated by measuring the density and hardness, and analysis of XRD, FT-Raman and microstructure. And wear properties of these composites were evaluated under the dry wear condition. It was possible to obtain the PTFE particles stably dispersed Al matrix composites by the hot press process at the sintering temperature of . The wear coefficient of a PTFE/Al compoite decreased with increasing of the volume fraction of PTFE. The wear weight of a PTFE/Al composite increased with increasing of the volume fractionof PTFE in the range of 0~10 vol.%PTFE, and showed maximum value at 10 vol.%PTFE, and then decreased at 20vol.%PTFE.
