        The vector mosquito surveillance is important when recommending prevention and control measures. The surveillance of the vectors were conducted at a total of 7 locations with light emitting diode (LED traps) and BG-Sentinel traps from March to November, 2023 in Gyeongnam province. In the surveillance, a total of 13 species belonging to seven genera were collected in a total of 6,537 females and 51.9/trap/night (Trap Index; TI) in 2023. Among the collection sites, Gangseo-gu at the pigsty in Busan with a LED trap recorded the highest TI 60.6 (Species Ratio; SR 65.6%) for Culex tritaeniorhynchus females in 2023. Each one of Cx. tritaeniorhynchus female was firstly collected for 2023 at Eulsukdo in Busan at 22th March. In the results of isolation of viral RNA, Flavivirus were positive in one pool (Chaoyang virus; 30 individuals) of Aedes vexans and negative in 341 pools (4,152 individuals) of 12 mosquito species including Cx. tritaeniorhynchus, Cx. pipiens, Aedes vexans, Ae. albopictus, and Ochlerotatus togoi in 2023.

        우리나라 보리 품종 중, 농가에 40년이상 보급되고 있는 올보리 품종에 대하여 출수기 및 정곡수량의 안정성을 전·답리작별 5개 지역에서 검정한 결과를 요약하면 아래와 같다.1. 올보리 품종의 평균출수기는 전작재배에서 진주가 4월 23일로 가장 빠르고, 밀양 4월 25일, 대구, 대전이 각각 4월 28일, 4월 30일이며, 수원이 5월 4일로 늦었다. 답리작재배에서평균출수기는 밀양이 4월 24일로 빠르고 진주, 익산, 대구는4월 26~27일, 대전이 5월 1일로 늦었다.2. 정곡수량의 총 평균은 10a당 전작 444kg, 답리작363kg으로서 전작에서 답리작보다 81kg 증수되었다. 전작재배에서 10a당 평균수량 이상의 지역은 진주 488kg, 대구469kg이었으며, 가장 적은 지역은 밀양의 385kg이며, 수원과대전은 평균정도의 수량을 얻었다. 답리작 재배 역시 진주에서 425kg으로 수량이 높은 반면, 익산은 307kg으로 가장 적었다.3. m2당수수는 지역별로 거의 비슷한 경향이며, 전작에서 평균 567개로 답리작의 529개보다 38개 많았다.4. 평균 1수립수는 전작에서 48립으로 답리작의 44립보다 4립 정도 많고, 천립중의 평균은 전작 33.9g으로 답리작33.2g과 비슷하였다.5. Stroike and Johnson(1973)의 모델을 분석한 결과, 올보리 품종의 환경지수는 −60에서 +60으로서 지수의 폭이 매우작아 전 지역에서 안정적이며, 회귀계수 및 회귀에 기인하는평균편차 평방화는 지역간에 다소의 차이가 있었다. 진주와 대구는 회귀계수가 1미만이고 표준편차 평방화도 적어 적응력이높은 지역으로 나타났다.6. Finlay and Wilkinson(1983)의 모델을 이용하여 안정성을검정한 결과에서도 진주가 가장 적응력이 높은 지역인 반면,전작의 밀양과 답리작의 익산은 안정성이 비교적 낮았으며, 다른 지역은 평균 안정성 지역으로 나타났다.7. 올보리 품종의 5개 지역에서 정곡수량에 미치는 수량구성요소의 기여도는 중북부 지역인 수원, 대전과 답리작의 대구, 익산에서 m2당수수의 기여도가 매우 높았으며, 천립중은낮았다. 전·답리작 5개 지역의 평균은 m2당수수 > 1수립수 >천립중 순서로 높았다.

        Cancer is the result of damage to the genetic system, i.e., dysfunction of the DNA repair system, resulting in dysregulated expression of various molecules, leading to cancer formation, migration, and invasion. In cancer progression, several proteases play a critical role in metastasis; however, their biological mechanism in cancer metastasis is not clearly understood. Among these proteases, cathepsins are a family of lysosomal proteases found in most animal cells. Cathepsins have an important role in protein turnover of mammalian, and are classified into 15 types based on their structure as serine (cathepsin A and G), aspartic (cathepsin D and E), and cysteine cathepsins (cathepsin B, C, F, H, K, L, O, S, V, X, and W). Cysteine cathepsins appear to accelerate the progression of human and rodent cancers, which can be a biomarker of the potency of malignancy or metastasis in mammalian. Overexpression of cyteine cathepsins causes the activation of angiogenesis promoting factor, whereas their downregulation reduces the angiogenesis of cancer progression. Under physiological conditions, cysteine cathepsins are essential in inflammation, infection, and cancer development. Activity of cysteine proteases, i.e., cathepsin B, is required for cancer progression or metastasis. Elevation of cysteine cathepsin is associated with cancer metastasis, angiogenesis, and immunity. Therefore, in this review, we suggest that cysteine cathepsin may be an anticancer target of strong clinical interest, although the exact mechanism of cathepsins in cancer metastasis is under investigation.

        Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) have detrimental effects on human health. Among these EDCs, bisphenol A (BPA) binds to estrogen receptors (ERs) to stimulate estrogen-mediated responses. BPA is assumed to disrupt the reproductive and developmental system of humans. In addition, BPA has recently been suspected as a risk of carcinogenesis. Because BPA can cause abnormal estrogen-mediated response in the organism, exposure to BPA may stimulate growth of estrogen-dependent breast cancers in human. In breast cancer, cyclin E and cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor p27 are important in G1/S phase transition during cell cycle progression. In this study, using an MTT assay, we investigated the effect of BPA on proliferation of MCF-7 breast cancer cells in vitro. In addition, we also analyzed the transcriptional levels of cyclin E and p27 following treatment with BPA using semi-quantitative RT-PCR. As a result, treatment with BPA resulted in significant induction of breast cancer cell growth, compared to a vehicle. BPA caused alterations of cyclin E and p27 mRNA expression. Expression of cyclin E was increased by BPA, while p27 was decreased at 24 h after treatment with BPA in MCF-7 breast cancer cells. Taken together, these collective results suggest that exposure to BPA induced breast cancer cell proliferation with deregulation of the cell cycle. A further study is required in order to determine the effects of BPA on the carcinogenic process in in vivo models.

        Background & Objectives : Nonylphenol (NP), a member of alkylphenols, has been widely used in manufacturing antioxidants, The present study was undertaken to examine whether short-term exposure to NP can alter the onset of puberty and associated reproductive parameters such as hormone receptor expressions in prepubertal female rats. Methods : NP (0.1, 1, 10 mg/kg BW) was administered orally at 10:00 from postnatal day 25 (PND 25) through the PND 35. The control group was administered orally each day 200 uL of the sesame oil. At PND 36, all groups were sacrificed at 18:00. The first vaginal opening (V.O.) day was monitored, and the weights of reproductive tissues were measured. Ovaries and uteri were used for analysis of mRNA levels, protein levels and histology. The transcriptional activities of the ovaries (StAR, P405scc, 3β-HSD, 17β-HSD, Aromatase and LH-R) and uteri(ER) were measured using quantitative RT-PCRs. The uterine proteins were used for the ER western blotting. Histological analysis of the reproductive organs was carried out. Results: Administration of NP induced early V.O. when compared to control. The ovarian weights of 1 mg group (0.164±0.010 mg/g BW) was significantly higher than those of control group (0.116±0.007 mg/g BW). Among the steroidogenesis-related genes, mRNA levels of the ovarian P450scc, 3β-HSD and Aromatase are increased significantly in all NP-treated groups. The mRNA levels of StAR and 17β- HSD were unchanged. NP administration (1 mg group) significantly increased the LH-R transcript level. Among the steroid hormone receptor genes, the mRNA level of ER-alpha was significantly elevated in 1mg NP group, while the mRNA levels of ER-beta and PR were unchanged in all NP-treated groups. Interestingly, wetern blotting data for uterine steroid hormone receptors revealed the complete disagreement with the transcriptional activities. Histological status of ovaries and uteri also exerted the occureence of advanced maturation in NP-treated groups. Conclusion: The present study demonstartes that the short-term administration of NP accelerates V.O. and maturation of reproductive organs such as ovary and uterus.

        본 논문에서는 부모의 자녀 양육태도와 청소년이 가진 주관적 계층감의 차이에 따라 청소년의 중독적 게임이용이 어떠한 차이를 나타내는지를 살펴보았다. 16세에서 24세 사이의 총 177명의 게임이용연령층을 대상으로 한 온라인 서베이 분석 결과, 전체 집단의 경우 부모의 양육태도 중 과잉기대 요인과 청소년 개인이 가진 높은 자기통제 수준이 게임중독이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 주관적 계층감에 따라 전체 집단을 나누어 다시 살펴본 결과, 주관적 계층감이 낮은 집단(주관적 빈곤감이 높은 그룹)에서는 부모의 양육태도 중 과잉기대 요인이 높고, 자기통제 수준이 높을수록 게임중독이 낮아지는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 반면, 주관적 계층감이 높은 집단(주관적 빈곤감이 낮은 그룹)에서는 부모의 양육태도 중 간섭 요인만이 게임중독을 낮추는 유일한 요인으로 드러났다. 이는 부모의 양육태도 중 특정 요인과 청소년이 가진 주관적 계층감이 게임을 비롯한 다양한 미디어의 중독적 사용과 중요한 관련을 가지고 있음을 시사하는 결과라 할 수 있다.
