        Chelating agents, such as ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA), and nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA) are widely used in industry and agriculture as water softeners, detergents, and metal chelating agents. In wastewater treatment plants, a significant amount of chelating agents can be discharged into natural waters because they are difficult to degrade. Since those compounds affect the mobility of radionuclides or heavy metals in decontamination operations at nuclear facilities and radioactive waste disposal, quantification of the amount of ligand is very important for safe nuclear waste management. To predict the behavior of the main complexation in sample matrices of radioactive wastes, it is essential to evaluate the distribution of the metal-chelating species and their stabilities in order to develop analytical techniques for quantifying chelating agents. We have investigated to collect information on the pH speciation of metal chelation and the stability constants of metal complexes depending on three chelating agents (EDTA, DTPA, and NTA). For example, Zhang’s group recently reported that the initial coordination pH of Cu(II) and EDTA4− is delayed with the addition of Fe(III), and the pH range for the stable existence of [Cu(EDTA)]2− is narrowed compared to when it is alone in the sample matrix. The addition of Fe(III) clearly impacts the chemical states of the Cu(II)-EDTA solution. Additionally, Eivazihollagh’s group demonstrated differences in the speciation and stability of Cu(II) species between Cu(II) and three chelating ligands (EDTA, DTPA, and NTA). This study will be greatly helpful in identifying the sample matrix for binding major chelating agents and metals as well as developing chemically sample pretreatment and separation methods based on the sample matrix. Finally, these advancements will enable reliable quantitative analysis of chelating agents in decommissioning radioactive wastes.

        In all geodisposal scenarios it is key to understand the interaction of radionuclides with mineral particles during their formation/recrystallisation. Studying processes at the molecular scale provides insight into long-term radionuclide behaviour. Uranium is a significant radionuclide in higher activity wastes destined for geological disposal, and iron (oxyhydr) oxides (e.g. goethite, 􀟙-FeOOH). are ubiquitous in and around these systems, formed via processes including metal corrosion and microbially induced reactions. There are numerous reports of uranium-incorporation into iron (oxyhydr) oxides, therefore it has been suggested that they may be a barrier to uranium migration in geodisposal systems. However, long-term stability of these phases during environmental perturbations are unexplored. Specifically, U-incorporated iron (oxyhydr) oxide phases may interact with Fe(II) and sulphide from biological or geological origin. Firstly, electron transfer occurs between adsorbed Fe(II) and iron oxyhydroxides, with potential for changes in the speciation of incorporated uranium e.g. oxidation state changes and/or release. Secondly, on exposure to aqueous sulfide, iron (oxyhydr) oxides undergo reductive dissolution and recrystallisation to iron sulphides. Understanding the fate of incorporated uranium during these process in key to understanding its long term behaviour in subsurface systems. A series of experimental studies were undertaken where U(VI)-goethite was synthesized then reacted with either aqueous Fe(II) or S(-II), and the system monitored over time using geochemical analysis and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) techniques e.g. U LIII-edge and MIV-edge HERFD-XANES. Reaction with aqueous Fe(II) resulted in electron transfer between Fe(II) and U(VI)-goethite, with > 50% U(VI) reduced to U(V). XAS analysis revealed that U remained within the goethite structure, and electron transfer only occurred within the outermost atomic layers of goethite. which led to U reduction. Rapid reductive dissolution of U(VI)-goethite occurred on reaction with sulfide at pH7. A transient release of aqueous U was observed during the first day, likely due to uranyl(VI)-persulfide species. However, U was retained in the solid phase in the longer term. In contrast, the sulfidation of U adsorbed to ferrihydrite at pH 12.2 led to the immediate release of U (< 10% Utotal) associated with a colloidal erdite (NaFeS2·2H2O) phase. Moreover, in the bulk phase the surface of ferrihydrite was passivated by sulfide, and U was found to have been trapped within surface associated erdite-like fibres. Overall, these studies further understanding of the long-term behaviour of U-incorporated iron (oxyhydr)oxides supporting the overarching concept of iron (oxyhydr) oxides acting as a barrier to U migration.

        Structural stability of a waste form can be provided by the waste form itself (steel components, etc.), by processing the waste to a stable form (solidification, etc.), or by emplacing the waste in a container or structure that provides stability (HICs or engineered structure, etc.). The waste or container should be resistant to degradation caused by radiation effects. In accordance with the requirements for the domestic waste acceptance criteria, irradiation testing of solidified waste forms containing spent resin should be conducted on specimens exposed to a dose of 1.0E+6 Gy and other material 1.0E+7 Gy. Expected cumulative dose over 300 years is about 1.770E+6 Gy for spent resin and 0.770E+6 Gy for dried concentrated waste generated from NPPs generally. According to NRC Waste Form Technical Position, to ensure that spent resins will not undergo adverse degradation effects from radiation, resins should not be generated having loadings that will produce greater than 1E+6 Gy total accumulated dose. If it necessary to load resins higher than 1E+6 Gy, it should be demonstrated that the resin will not undergo radiation degradation at the proposed higher loading. This is the recommended maximum activity level for organic resins based on evidence that while a measurable amount of damage to the resin will occur at 1E+6 Gy, the amount of damage will have negligible effect on disposal site safety. Cementitious materials are not affected by gamma radiation to in excess of 1E+6 Gy. Therefore, for cement-stabilized waste forms, irradiation qualification testing need not be conducted unless the waste forms contain spent resins or other organic media or the expected cumulative dose on waste forms containing other materials is greater than 1E+7 Gy. Testing should be performed on specimens exposed to IE+6 Gy or the expected maximum dose greater than 1E+6 Gy for waste forms that contain ion exchange resins or other organic media or the expected maximum dose greater than 1E+7 Gy for other waste forms. This is suggestion as a review result that requirement for irradiation testing of solidified waste forms has something to be revise in detail and definitively.

        Pyroprocessing technology has emerged as a viable alternative for the treatment of metal/oxide used fuel within the nuclear fuel cycle. This innovative approach involves an oxide reduction process wherein spent fuel in oxide form is placed within a cathode basket immersed in a molten LiCl-Li2O salt operating at 923 K. The chemical reduction of these oxide materials into their metallic counterparts occurs through a reaction with Li metal, which is electrochemically deposited onto the cathode. However, during process, the generation of Li2O within the fuel basket is inevitable, and due to the limited reduction efficiency, a significant portion of rare earth oxides (REOx) remains in their oxide state. The presence of these impurities, specifically Li2O and REOx, necessitates their transfer into the electrorefining system, leading to several challenges. Both Li2O and REOx exhibit reactivity with UCl3, the primary electrolyte within the electrorefining system, causing a continuous reduction in UCl3 concentration throughout the process. Furthermore, the formation of fine UO2 powder within the salt system, resulting from chemical reactions, poses a potential long-term operational and safety concern within the electrorefining process.Various techniques have been developed to address the issue of UO2 fine particle removal from the salt, utilizing both chemical and mechanical methods. However, it is crucial that these methods do not interfere with the core pyroprocessing procedure. This study aims to investigate the impact of Li2O and REOx introduced from the electrolytic reduction process on the electrorefining system. Additionally, we propose a method to effectively eliminate the generated UO2 fine powder, thereby enhancing the long-term operational stability of the electrorefining process. The efficiency of this proposed solution in removing oxidized powder has been confirmed through laboratory-scale testing, and we will provide a comprehensive discussion of the detailed results.

        본 연구는 브로콜리 추출물의 DPPH radical 소거활성을 통한 항산화 활성과 저온(5℃이하), 고 온(50℃이상)의 보관 조건을 통해 화장품 제조 시 나타날 수 있는 온도 변화에 따른 항산화력 변화를 비교 해보고, 브로콜리 추출물 5%가 함유된 크림을 제조하여 화장품의 제형 안정성, 변색 및 변취, pH, 1차 첩 포 테스트를 통해 물리적, 화학적 안정성에 대해 확인하고 하였다. 실험 결과, 브로콜리 추출물 1%의 농도 에서 95.5%의 높은 DPPH radical 소거 활성이 확인되었으며, 온도 변화에 따른 보관 조건에도 항산화력 은 높에 유지되는 것을 확인되었다. 브로콜리 추출물 5% 함유된 크림에서도 제형의 안정성, 변색 및 변취, pH, 1차 첩포 테스트 모두 안전성과 안정성이 유지되는 것이 확인되었다. 본 연구들을 통해 브로콜리 추출 물의 높은 항산화 활성과 온도 변화에 따른 항산화력 유지력을 통해 피부에 안전하고 효과적으로 사용가능 한 화장품 소재로써의 가능성이 확인되었다.

        ITO 투명 전극 필름은 디스플레이, 전기 자동차 등 산업 전 범위에서 널리 사용되는 전자 재료이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 indium tin oxide (ITO) 필름의 열성형 안정성을 향상시키기 위하여 Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) 전도성 고분자 코팅 용액 조성을 결정하였다. 1000 S/cm의 고 전도성을 보이는 PEDOT:PSS 용액에 끓는점이 각기 다른 4가지 종류의 용매를 희석하였고, 코팅 전 후 면저항 변화를 분석하였다. 또한 380~800 nm 영역의 광 투과율 분 석 및 Raman 스펙트럼 분석을 통하여 PEDOT:PSS 박막이 코팅된 ITO 투명 전극의 전기적 특성 결정 메커니즘을 규명하였 다. 230°C 열성형 공정 결과 ITO 필름은 113% 연신 상태에서 이미 전기 전도성을 읽었지만, ethylene glycol을 희석 용매로 사용하여 얻어진 전도성 고분자 박막이 적용된 ITO 필름은 126% 고 연신 상태에서도 초기 60 Ω/sq 면저항을 246 Ω/sq로 유지하는 우수한 전기 전도성을 보였다.

        강황 분말의 첨가가 마요네즈의 품질특성, 항산화활성 및 산화안정성에 미치는 영향에 대해 평가하였다. 들기름으로 제조된 마요네즈에 강황 분말을 0.5%, 1%, 2%, 3% 농도로 첨가하여 4°C에서 12주 동안 저장하였으며, 강황 분말 무첨가구와 비교하였다. 강황 분말 첨가량이 많아짐에 따라 들기름 마요네즈의 L* (명도) 값은 유의적으로 감소하였고, a* (적색도)는 모든 실험구에서 negative (-)값이었으며, b* (황색도)값은 유의적으로 증가되는 경향이었다(p<0.05). 강황 분말 첨가량이 많아짐에 따라 총 페놀 함량 및 항산화 활성이 유의적으로 증가하였다(p<0.05). 마요네즈를 저장하는 동안 과산화물가는 유의적으로 증가하였으나, 강황 분말 첨가 시료에서는 유의적으로 낮았다(p<0.05). 마요네즈의 유화안정성은 저장 초기에 비해 저장 기간이 길어질수록 감소되는 경향이었으나, 0.5%의 강황 분말 첨가구는 무첨가구에 비해 유의적으로 높은 유화안정성을 보였으며, 1%의 강황 분말 첨가구는 무첨가구와 유의차를 보이지 않았다. 점도는 저장 기간이 경과됨에 따라 감소되었으나, 무첨가구에 비해 1% 이상의 강황 분말 첨가구에서 유의적으로 높았다. 들기름 마요네즈에 강황 분말 첨가 시 항산화 활성 증대 및 과산화물의 생성 억제에 효과적이었으며, 특히 0.5~1% 첨가시 마요네즈의 유화안정성 및 점도 개선에 도움이 될 것으로 판단된다.

        The ectoparasitic mite, Varroa destructor is one of the most destructive pests of the honeybee (Apis mellifera) leading to the collapse honey bee colony in many regions of the world. RNA interference (RNAi) is a novel approach recently proposed for insect pest control. However, the efficiency of RNAi in insects is low due to the lack of effective delivery methods for dsRNA and sensitivity to nuclease degradation. Therefore, the success of RNAi technology largely depends on the stability of dsRNA. To explore the possibility of using RNAi to control varroa mite, we determined the effects of dsRNA targeting a subunit of the cytoplasmic coatomer protein complex B2, D, and E subunits on target gene expression for varroa mite. We observe that dsRNA ingested by bees is transferred to the varroa mite, resulting in knockdown of COPB2 expression. Furthermore, we demonstrate that chitosan nanoparticles-dsRNA complexes were more stable for 7 days in honeybee tissue fluids. The dsRNA-conjugated with chitosan was protected from degradation in hemolymph, fat body, and midgut extracts collected from the honeybee. These results possibly suggest that nanoparticles-dsRNA complexes might be horizontally transferred from treated honeybee to varroa mite, in which case the honeybees could serve as RNAi vectors. We confirmed, moreover, dsRNA fed nontarget insects, honeybee, were unaffected, and no toxicity was observed for honeybee. Overall, these data suggest that dsRNA-conjugated with chitosan help escape effectively from degradation by honeybee tissue fluids and could improve RNAi efficiency in varroa mite.

        목적 : 신체균형 측정기를 이용하여 주시거리와 다양한 시각 상태가 신체 안정성에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 방법 : 대상자는 총 23명(23.92±2.09세)으로 진행하였으며, 시각 조건은 모두 ‘완전교정, 흐림 조건(시력 0.5 logMAR 미만) 그리고 10° 이내의 시야’이다. 신체 안정성 측정은 ‘3D Guidance‘를 사용하였다. 결과 : 완전교정 상태에서는 주시거리 간 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 없었다(p>0.050). 그러나 흐림 조건에서는 주시거리에 따라 측면 및 전·후면 흔들림에서 유의한 차이가 확인되었으며(p=0.004, p=0.027), 시야가 10° 이 내로 제한되었을 때에도 유의한 신체 흔들림이 관찰되었다(p<0.050). 결론 : 주시거리에 따라 신체 안정성의 변화가 나타나며, 특히 흐림과 제한된 시야 상태에서는 주시거리에 따른 차이가 더 유의하였다.

        In a self-level riser, the piston rod generates hydraulic pressure while reciprocating along the pump rod, so components such as rods and valves require precise processing technology. Among them, the design of the pump rod was changed to a spiral groove method because there was a risk of poor operation during eccentricity. In this paper, the design and 3D modeling of the pump rod were conducted, and the structural stability of the core part according to the load change applied to the pump rod was confirmed.

        Physicochemical properties and storage stability of plant-based alternative meat prepared with low-fat soybean powder (LPAM) treated by supercritical-CO2 and those of full-fat soybean powder (FPAM) were compared. Ash and crude protein contents were higher in LPAM than in FRAM. Water absorption capacity and oil absorption capacity were significantly higher in LPAM than in FPAM. Water binding capacity was higher in LPAM than in FPAM during a 20 days storage period at 5℃ and pH was significantly lower in LPAM than in FPAM after a 5~10 days storage period. Hardness, gumminess and chewiness significantly increased with the increase in the storage period, and the three were significantly higher in LPAM than in FPAM after 10 days and 20 days of storage. The acid value showed no remarkable difference according to the storage period in LPAM; however, it was significantly higher in FPAM than in LPAM after 20 days of storage. The peroxide value and TBA value were significantly increased according to the storage period, and were significantly lower iin LPAM than in FPAM during all the storage periods. Therefore, the use of low-fat soybean powder may be effective in improving oxidative stability during storage in the production of plant-based alternative meat.

        APro, developed in KAERI for the process-based total system performance assessment (TSPA) of deep geological disposal systems, performs finite element method (FEM)-based multiphysics analysis. In the FEM-based analysis, the mesh element quality influences the numerical solution accuracy, memory requirement, and computation time. Therefore, an appropriate mesh structure should be constructed before the mesh stability analysis to achieve an accurate and efficient process-based TSPA. A generic reference case of DECOVALEX-2023 Task F, which has been proposed for simulating stationary groundwater flow and time-dependent conservative transport of two tracers, was used in this study for mesh stability analysis. The relative differences in tracer concentration varying mesh structures were determined by comparing with the results for the finest mesh structure. For calculation efficiency, the memory requirements and computation time were compared. Based on the mesh stability analysis, an approach based on adaptive mesh refinement was developed to resolve the error in the early stage of the simulation time-period. It was observed that the relative difference in the tracer concentration significantly decreased with high calculation efficiency.

        해양레저활동 인구증가 및 관련 산업의 급성장으로 인해 레저 선박을 접안하는 계류시설과 부유체를 기반으로 하는 해상부유 식 펜션 등 레저시설 수요가 증가하고 있으며, 이러한 연안에서 사용되는 부유체는 대부분 경량 부유체로서 중량이 상대적으로 경량이므 로 연안으로 유입되는 파(Wave)와 상재 하중에 의해 쉽게 경사가 발생하여 안정성이 낮아 안전사고가 빈번히 발생하고 있다. 이런 문제점 에 대한 해결방안으로 부유체의 운동저감장치를 연구하여 알리고자 한다. 본 연구논문에서는 부유체에 운동저감장치(기압차를 이용한 운 동저감장치)를 부착하여 운동저감효과를 부착하지 않은 부유체와 비교하는 방식으로 효과를 분석하였다. 효과분석은 전산해석시험으로 분석하여 부유체의 안정성 증가방법을 연구하고 그 효과를 검증해 보았다. 시험결과 분석결과 기압차를 이용한 운동저감장치를 부착한 부유체가 운동저감장치를 부착하지 않은 부유체보다 파랑에 대한 운동량이 저감되어 부유체의 안정성이 증가된 것으로 분석되었다. 이러 한 부유체의 운동저감 장치는 무동력 선박뿐만 아니라 동력선, 반잠수식 선박에서도 유용하게 사용될 것으로 판단되어 다양한 분야에 적 용하여 연구를 진행할 계획이다.

        선박의 안전운항을 도모하기 위한 필수적 요소 중 하나인 복원성 확보에 대한 항해사의 해기지식은 선박의 대형화 및 자율운 항선박 출현 등 선박 기술의 진보와 더불어 향상되고 개선되어야 한다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 항해사를 대상으로 복원성에 관한 설문 조사를 수행하였고, 일반적 특성을 이용하여 경험적 인지도를 통계분석하였다. 분석 결과, 복원성 기준의 이해도에서 상위직급에서는 높 은 이해도를 갖고 있었으며, 특정 선종에 대한 특별 기준에 대한 이해는 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 전체 응답자의 87.6%가 복원성 평가의 수단으로 Loading computer를 활용하고 있었다. 현장에서 복원성 평가 방법으로 GM 활용이 평균 3.891/5.000점으로 가장 높았으며, 주로 GM과 복원성 기준으로 복원성 확보여부를 판단하였다. 복원성 부족 시, 항해사는 주로 평형수 보충을 통하여 개선하였으며, 소각도 타각 사용으로 안전을 확보하는 운항적 경향도 있었다. 본 연구 결과는 선박 복원성에 대한 항해사의 경험적 인지도를 평가함으로써, 향후 운 항자 중심의 복원성에 관한 교육 개선 및 연구에 중요한 자료로 활용하고자 한다.
