        공주지역에 조림된 리기다소나무 군락에서 국내 대표 수종인 소나무와 방풍림으로 주로 조림되는 곰솔 낙엽의 분해율 및 분해과정에 따른 영양염류의 함량 변화를 파악하였다. 분해 60개월 경과 후 소나무 낙엽과 곰솔 낙엽의 잔존율은 각각 42.12±5.30과 24.79±1.98%로 소나무와 곰솔의 낙엽 분해율은 곰솔 낙엽의 분해가 소나무 낙엽의 분해에 비해 빠르게 일어났다. 60개월 경과 후 소나무 낙엽과 곰솔 낙엽의 분해상수 (k)는 각각 3.02과 3.59로 곰솔 낙엽의 분해상수가 다소 높게 나타났다. 소나무 낙엽의 분해과정에 따른 C/N, C/P 비율은 초기에 각각 14.4, 144.1 이었으나 60개월 경과 후에는 각각 2.26와 40.1로 점차 감소하였으며, 곰솔 낙엽의 경우 초기 C/N, C/P 비율은 각각 14.4와 111.3로 나타났고, 60개월 경과 후에는 각각 3.06와 45.8로 나타났다. 낙엽의 초기 N, P, K, Ca, Mg 함량은 소나무 낙엽에서 각각 3.07, 0.31, 1.51, 16.56, 2.03 mg g-1, 곰솔 낙엽에서 각각 3.02, 0.39, 0.99, 19.55, 1.48 mg g-1로 소나무 낙엽과 곰솔 낙엽의 질소와 인의 함량은 유사하였다. 60 개월 경과 후 N, P, K, Ca, Mg의 잔존율은 소나무 낙엽에서 각각 231.08, 130.13, 35.68, 48.58, 36.03%이었고, 곰솔 낙엽에서 각각 143.91, 74.02, 28.59, 45.08, 44.99%로 나타났다.

        This study was conducted to determine the effects of dietary protein level and supplementation of protease on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, gut microflora, intestinal morphology and fecal noxious gas emission in weanling pigs. A total of 240 weaned pigs (Landrace×Yorkshire×Duroc, 5.82±0.3 kg) were used during 4 weeks in 2 phases (days 0-14, phase 1; and days 15-28, phase 2) feeding program based on age and initial body weight. Pigs were allocated to 2×2 factorial arrangement, including 2 protein levels (HP, high protein; LP, low protein) and 2 protease levels (with or without protease). The average daily gain in the LP treatment (357 g/d) was increased rather than the HP treatment (339 g/d). A greater avarage daily gain was observed in dietary suppiemented protease treatment (358 vs 339 g/d). Average feed intake was greater in the LP treatment (544 g/d) rather than the HP treatment (530 g/d). A greater average daily feed intake was observed in dietary supplemented protease treatment (552 vs 523 g/d). Dry matter and crude protein digestibility were increased in dietary supplemented protease treatment (82.62% and 76.08%, respectively) rather than non-supplemented treatment (81.74% and 75.13%, respectively). Ileal Lactobacillus spp. count increased in dietary supplemented protease treatment (7.42 vs 7.32 log10CFU/g). Emission of H2S was decreased in the LP treatment (4.41 ppm) rather than HP treatment (4.78 ppm). Emission of NH3 was decreased in dietary supplemented protease treatment (10.43 ppm vs 11.76 ppm). In conclusion, the decrease of dietary protein level and supplementation of protease had beneficial effects on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, gut microflora, and noxious gas emission in weanling pigs.

        본 연구에서는 와편모조류 Alexandrium affine(LIMS-PS-2345)의 생장에 미치는 용존태 무기 및 유기 영양염의 영향을 조사하였 다. 영양염 흡수 동력학 실험에서 A. affine의 최대흡수속도(ρmax)와 반포화상수(Ks)는 질산염에서 77.0 pmol/cell/hr과 17.6 μM, 인산염에서 15.5 pmol/cell/hr과 3.88 μM로 산출되어, 무기영양염에 대하여 높은 요구량 및 낮은 친화성을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 유기 영양염에 따른 A. affine의 생장속도를 확인한 결과, 유기 질소 urea, glycine와 유기 인 adenosine triphosphate(ATP), glycerol phosphate(Glycerol-P) 첨가구에서 무기 영양염 첨가구의 70 % 이상 생장속도를 보였다. 따라서 낮은 무기 영양염 환경에서 A. affine의 우점화와 종간경쟁에서 우위를 위해서는 용존태 유기 영양염의 이용이 필요할 것으로 생각된다.

        This study aimed to assess the association between the weight status and dietary behavior of preschool children. The survey included 412 preschool children aged 2-5 years in 31 childcare facilities in Gwangju. General characteristics of children and their mothers, weight, height, feeding type, complementary feeding, food allergy, and dietary behavior of children based on the Nutrition Quotient for preschoolers (NQ-P) questionnaire were considered. Children were classified into 4 groups by weight status; underweight, normal, overweight, and obese, based on the 2017 Korean National Growth Charts. The percentage of children in the respective groups was 5.3, 70.9, 10.7, 13.1%. Weight status was not related to breast feeding duration nor the starting time of complementary feeding. The NQ-P scores of underweight, normal, overweight, and obese groups were 55.4, 60.0, 60.8, 60.0. Among the three factors covered by the NQ-P, ‘balance’ and ‘environment’ scores of the underweight group were lower than that of other groups. Underweight children consumed beans, fish, and white milk less frequently. The ‘moderation’ scores of the overweight/obese group were lower than those of the normal or obese groups. Obese children more frequently ate processed meat and fast foods. Proper nutrition education is thus needed for not only obese children but also underweight children based on their age, along with their parents, and caregivers.

        Diet is important for muscle health and offers a protective effects against the loss of skeletal muscle mass and physical functions with advancing age. We analyzed the relationship between diet, metabolic disease risk, and sarcopenia in Korean female adults using the 2009-2011 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). A total of 2038 adult women aged 50-64 years were classified into four groups based on the diagnosis of menopause and sarcopenia. The groups were the non-menopause and non-sarcopenia group (NMNS, n=249), the non-menopause and sarcopenia group (NMS, n=14), the menopause and non-sarcopenia group (MNS, n=1,653), and the menopause and sarcopenia group (MS, n=122). The socio-demographics, anthropometrics, blood profile, and dietary data of the subjects were collected. Those who were in both the sarcopenia groups were more obese (p<0.001), had greater waist circumferences (p<0.001), higher body mass index (p<0.001), and higher obesity rates (p<0.001) after adjustment for covariants. Both the sarcopenia groups also had higher plasma levels of total cholesterol (p<0.001), HbA1c (p=0.001), and vitamin D (p=0.020) than both the non-sarcopenia groups. Both the sarcopenia groups demonstrated a decreased intake of calcium (p=0.05), potassium (p=0.008), and niacin (p=0.008) than both the non-sarcopenia ones. Among the four groups, the NMS group showed the highest levels of total cholesterol, obesity, and lowest intake of micronutrients such as calcium, niacin, and potassium. Thus, muscle mass maintenance through weight control and adequate nutrient intake appears to demonstrate a potential association with preventing sarcopenia in Korean middle-aged women.

        This study investigated on the nutritional components and physiological activity of four wild vegetables namely Salvia plebeia R. Br., Angelica acutiloba, Gynura procumbens and Saururus chinensis Baill for the development of representative wild vegetables in Chungbuk. Salvia plebeia possessed the highest radical scavenging activity and beta-carotene, but exhibited the lowest α-glucosidase inhibitory activity compared to the other three vegetables. Angelica acutiloba showed high crude protein content and α-glucosidase inhibitory activity, but contained low total polyphenol content, radical scavenging ability and beta-carotene compared to the other three vegetables. Gynura procumbens showed high mineral content, beta-carotene, vitamin K1 content and α-glucosidase inhibitory activity, but showed the lowest total polyphenol content and radical scavenging ability compared to the other three vegetables. Saururus chinensis showed high crude fiber content and total polyphenol content, but contained the lowest mineral and vitamin K1 content. To conclude, it is suggested to use Salvia plebeia or Saururus chinensis as antioxidant food materials and Angelica acutiloba and Gynura procumbens as food materials and sources of α-glucosidase inhibitors. In particular, it is believed that Saururus chinensis, which possessed high content of crude fiber, is suitable for low-calorie food materials such as diet products.

        In this study, data from the 7th (2016~2018) and 8th (2019) Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys were used, which included 5,325 subjects. Health behavior, dietary and nutrient intake status, physical measurement and biochemical characteristics, and risk factors for elderly related chronic diseases were classified and analyzed according to the changing composition of single households and other households in the current society. As a result, the ratio of current smokers and drinkers in young adult single households, walking less than 30 minutes per day, subjective health status was poor, breakfast rate less than three times per week, eating out frequency more than once a day, lipid intake ratio to total calories, saturation fatty acid intake were significantly higher. In addition, waist circumference, and diastolic blood pressure were significantly higher. However, dietary fiber intake level was significantly lower. The results for hypertension, which is the representative chronic disease that causes old age-related chronic diseases, were significantly higher in single households (ORs=1.400 (95% CI: 1.095, 1.791), p=0.007). Although young adults may not have showed particularly serious health problems yet, education is believed as important to recognize and prevent age-related disease risk factors.

        This study aimed to investigate the use of environmentally friendly agricultural products (EFAPs) in Chungcheongbuk-do and the perception and satisfaction of school dietitians with EFAPs. The study survey was conducted from April to Jun 2018. Among 195 dietitians, 54.4% were nutrition teachers and 51.3% were working in elementary schools. Of the participants, 65% answered that the percentage of EFAPS in the total food cost was 10~30%. The most used EFAP food group was grains (64.6%), followed by vegetables (26.2%). The main reasons for using EFAPs were subsidies for EFAPs from local governments (85.1%) and students’ health (52.3%). The average daily subsidy for EFAPs from the local governments was 201~500 won at 45.1%, and 200 won or less at 34.9%, which was based on one meal per student. In questions on satisfaction with using EFAPs, satisfaction with safety (3.93 out of 5 points) scored the highest, followed by nutrition (3.74), freshness (3.70), appearance (3.32), diversity (2.85), and price (2.78). Therefore, to expand the use of EFAPs in school food service, it is necessary to expand the provision of subsidies and increase EFAP production diversification.

        급성 췌장염은 담석, 음주 등의 원인으로 발생하는 급성 염증성 질환이다. 약 80%에서는 췌장에만 염증이 생기는 경증 췌장염으로 그치나, 약 20%의 환자에서는 증증 괴사성 췌장염으로 발전하고, 보고에 따라 사망률이 43%에 이른다. 이에 따라 초기의 집중적인 치료는 매우 중요하다. 본고에서는 급성 췌장염의 치료 중 영양과 항생제의 사용에 대해 살펴보고자 하였다. 전통적으로 급성 췌장염은 금식으로 췌장을 쉬게 한다는 개념으로 한 치료가 강조되었고, 이와 함께 대량 수액 공급, 통증 조절, 영양 공급, 적절한 항생제 치료가 주로 이루어졌다. 그러나 최근 조기에 경장 영양을 시작하는 것이 입원 기간 단축, 다발성 장기 부전, 전신 감염, 수술적 치료 필요성을 개선시키고 사망률을 개선시킨다는 것이 여러 연구들을 통해 입증되었다. 따라서 금기사항만 없다면 가급적 조기에 경장 영양을 시키는 것이 장려된다. 또한 무작위 대조군 연구들에 따르면 예방적 항생제가 감염을 예방하거나 사망률을 감소시키는 것에 도움이 되지 않고 오히려 항생제 내성을 유발하고 의료비 지출이 높아지므로 예방적 항생제 사용을 권장하지 않고 있다. 하지만 중증 급성 췌장염에서는 예방적 항생제를 쓰는 것에 대해 여전히 논란이 되고 있고 감염이 의심될 때에는 광범위 항생제를 조기에 쓰는 것이 필요하다. 결론적으로 급성 췌장염의 치료에 있어 전통적으로 행해 왔던 금식보다는 조기에 경장 영양을 시작하고 항생제는 적절히 사용하는 것이 중요하다.

        Diets different in crude protein (CP) and undegraded intake protein (UIP) contents were offered to sheep in a metabolism study to describe their effects on nutrient digestibility and nitrogen (N) metabolism. Six Corriedale sheep (body weight=56.2±2.3 kg) were divided in random within a Latin square design (replicated) to 1 of 3 diets: 1) a low-CP diet (LP; 12.2% CP with 35.1% UIP), 2) high CP with low UIP diet (HPLU; 14.9% CP with 33.7% UIP), and 3) high CP with high UIP diet (HPHU; 15.5% CP with 45.8% UIP). High-protein dried distillers grain and soybean meal were the main CP sources for the adjustment of UIP:DIP in the diets. No significant differences were found in feed consumption and nutrient digestibility; however, a greater proportion of CP was digested in sheep fed the HPLU diet (69.4%; P=0.04). Although N intake was greater in sheep receiving HPLU and HPHU diets, loss of N through fecal or urinary route was not different among sheep, which resulted in the highest (12.7 g/d) and lowest N retention (7.40 g/d) in HPHU- and LP-fed sheep, respectively. In conclusion, although CP or UIP content had marginal effects on feed consumption and whole-tract digestibility of the majority of nutrients, with the increased CP and UIP levels in the diet, the efficiency of N utilization was improved with regard to increased N retention with minimal differences in N excretion, which is important from an economic and environmental standpoint.

        본 연구의 목적은 경상북도 영양군 수하계곡의 관속식물상을 조사 및 분석하여 생태․경관보전 지역의 관리와 생태탐방로 조성에 필요한 기초자료를 제공하는 것이다. 관속 식물상은 95과 258속 366종 9아종 28변종 4품종 1잡종 1재배 품종의 409분류 군이며, 식재종은 주목, 자작나무 등 7분류군이었다. 희귀식물은 태백제비꽃, 미치광이풀, 꽃창포, 노랑무늬붓꽃 4분류군, 한국 특산식물은 키버들, 노랑갈퀴, 지리대사초 등 8분류 군으로 나타났다. 식물구계학적 특정종은 총 37분류 군으로, Ⅳ등급은 3분류 군, Ⅲ등급은 10분류 군, Ⅱ등급은 8분류 군, Ⅰ등급은 16분류 군이었다. 기후변화 적응 대상 식물은 피나물, 산새콩, 애기며느리밥풀 등 11분류 군으로 나타났다. 외래식물은 소리쟁이, 달맞이꽃, 큰김의털 등 21분류 군이며, 생태계 교란식물은 돼지풀 1분류 군이었다.

        Diet composition and trophic level of Trachurus japonicus were studied using 417 specimens collected by trawls, set nets and purse seine fisheries from March 2019 to February 2020 in the South Sea of Korea. The size of T. Japonicus ranged from 7.0 to 49.8 cm in total length. T. japonicus were a carnivore that fed mainly on euphausiids and pisces. In eddition, T. japonicus fed on small quantities of cephalopods, crabs etc. T. japonicus showed ontogenetic changes in feeding habits. The proportion of euphausiids decreased inversely proportional to body size whereas the consumption of pisces gradually increased. As body size of T. japonicus increased the mean number of prey per stomach and the mean weight of prey per stomach tended to increase, but the mean number of prey per stomach was not significantly different. As a result of the feeding strategy analysis, T. japonicus were specialized feeders with pisces and euphausiids as their dominant prey. The trophic level ranged between 3.57 ± 0.54 and 3.91 ± 0.65, and increased asymptotically with size of specimens. The average trophic level of the T. japonicus was 3.79 ± 0.61.
