        The aim of this study is to clarify what influence has on elementary school children's environmental awareness in time of teaching environmental problems from an animistic viewpoint and from non-animistic viewpoint. For this purpose, this study carried out its research targeting 126 students in fourth grade at M elementary school located in U Metropolitan City. This study suggested the environmental problems by re-edifying the already suggested environmental problems from an animistic viewpoint to 62 students for two classes which were classified as an experimental group after sampling 10 cases of the representative environmental problems that might derive from the earth system, and conducted the class on 10 main topics relevant to the problematic situation of environment with an animistic viewpoint excluded targeting the remaining 64 students forming a comparison group. The results of this study were as follows: First, there appeared an ex-ante ex-post statistically significant difference in the awareness of environmental problems from the experimental group which received an environmental class from an animistic viewpoint. However, there didn't appear a statistically significant difference from the comparison group. This study interprets this result to mean that elementary students' awareness of environmental problems increase because they think about the environmental problems by associating them with a problem of life when the students receive the environmental class from an animistic viewpoint. Second, there appeared an ex-ante ex-post statistically significant difference in the awareness of environmental problems from the experimental group which received an environmental class from an animistic viewpoint. However, there didn't appear a statistically significant difference from the comparison group. Regarding this aspect, this study believes that the experimental group shows much higher willingness to environmental act in comparison with the comparison group because elementary school students think of inanimate objects as living things.

        The sense of crisis on seriousness of earth environment is gradually getting greater and the importance of environment education followed by this trend is being highlighted. As an environment friendly New Environmental Paradigm opposed to the human Dominant Social Paradigm on the existing environment is on the rise, the environment education considers not only the perceptive field, but the definitive field and behavioral pattern to follow as important values. Accordingly, the basic awareness of students on environment was found out in order to perform a proper environment education and tried to find out the behavior pattern that the students have on environment on this basis . For the research tool of this study, the one that has revised the Revised NEP Scale for elementary school students which Geum, Ji Hun․Kim, Jin Mo have validated the feasibility and reliability while the test paper was prepared by dividing into recycling behavior, energy preservation behavior and source of information. The target of this study was 600 students in sixth grade of elementary school residing in Kimhae, Gyeongsangnamdo while the mean, average, standard deviation, independent t-test and correlation analysis were performed using SPSS 15.0 statistics program for a total of 462 copies including 235 copies from male students and 227 copies from female students. The results of this study are as follows. First, everyone had high pro-NEP tendencies on the environmental problem with 4.14. On the other hand, the anti-NEP did not have high awareness standard with 2.98. Second, the awareness level on resource recycling was shown as being quite high with 4.05. Between NEP and resource recycling, a positive correlation of r=.155 was shown so that the awareness level on resource recycling was getting quite high as the awareness on environment problem was getting higher. Third, the awareness level on energy saving activity was shown as being very high with 3.0. Between NEP and resource recycling, a positive correlation of r=.210 so that the awareness level on energy saving was getting quite high as the awareness on environment problem was getting higher. Fourth, for the source of information on environmental problems of region, our country and global village, the television and internet were shown as main sources of information while the ratio of positive answers on teachers and region as sources of information was shown as quite low.

        This study aims to find out an effect of 3 types of environment worksheets used for 5th elementary graders's environmental class on their environmental perceptions and behavior. 104 of 5th graders in M elementary school in Ulsan Metropolitan City were selected and divided into A group(35), B group(34) and C group(35) for this study, and to A group, a class used worksheet of the photo taken clean, unpolluted environment, and to B group, a class used worksheet of the photo taken polluted environment and to C group, a class used worksheet of only text without photo were carried out. The worksheet used class was conducted 5 times, and then after the classes, the student's change in environmental perceptions and behavior by group was put into verification Below are the study results. First, the worksheets used for the environment class have incurred significant differences in student's environmental perceptions by their types. A. B groups were higher than C group in their post-test environmental perceptions score, a statistically significant differences. Meanwhile, statistically insignificant differences appeared in environmental perceptions score between A and B groups. Second, the type of worksheet used for environment class represented considerable differences in he students' environmental behavior. A group was higher than B. C groups in post test environment behavior score, the difference of which was statistically significant. While statistically insignificant difference represented in environmental behavior between B, C groups. Third, the both types of worksheets of the photo of positive environment and that of negative environment appeared to be effective statistically in changing the elementary students' environmental behavior, while the worksheets of the photo of positive environment appeared to be effective statistically in their environmental behavior.

        본 연구는 원예프로그램이 유아의 환경 인식태도 및 확산적 사고에 미치는 영향에 대하여 알아보고자 하였다. 경산시의 D, J초등학교 병설 유치원을 다니고 있는 만 4~5세 유아를 대상으로 2010년 5월 11일부터 7월 16일 까지 매주 목요일 오전 10시부터 1시간, 주 1회, 총 10회 원예프로그램을 실시하였다. 유아 환경인식 검사 결과 하위항목 환경지식과 환경태도에서 모두 유의하게(P<0.01) 향상 되었다. 전체 점수 또한 유의하게(P<0.01) 향상되었다. 확장적 사고검사 결과 전체 점수가 유의한 향상을 나타냈으며 하위항목 독창성(P<0.05)과 정교성(P<0.01)에서 각각 유의한 의미가 나타났다. 이상의 결과로부터 원예활동 프로그램이 유아의 환경인식과 확장적 사고에 크게 영향을 끼친다고 판단되었다. 따라서 유아 교육 기관에서는 원예활동 프로그램을 도입한 환경교육이 필요하며 재활용품을 이용한 원예활동 프로그램이 확대되어 나가야 한다고 생각된다.

        How would environmental education be implemented for effectiveness today? Deep reflection on the way of teaching environment in classes to achieve effectiveness is required. If there exist differences in students' environmental perception depending on environment class pattern, its most effective way should be looked for. In environmental education, inducing the students to have advisable attitude voluntary about environment is more important than teaching them environmental knowledge. From such view, students' active participation is necessary for successful environmental classes. Students need to be set to share their principle, values, attitude about environment problems at environmental class through presentation which is important factor to make them have advisable environmental attitude. Therefore, environmental class need to be carried out student-led way. For that, a class model need to be designed which will be helpful for the students to arrange and elaborate their emitting thought about environment problems through disclosing their thoughts to share them with fellow students which will end up in their advisable environmental attitude. This study aimed to find out the effectiveness of environmental collage making class contributive to offering various environmental perception to students and grasping others' thinking about environment. Fifty-eight 10th graders at U Science High School in Ulsan metropolitan city were selected for the study that carried out from 2010 April to June by choosing total 10 environmental themes divided into environmental collage making class applied to the 30 test group students, and general environmental class applied to 28 control group students. Following are the study results. First, in students' environmental sensitivity, the students in the environmental collage making class appeared to be higher compared with them in general environmental class. Second, in students' intentional environment action, the students in the environmental collage making class appeared to be higher compared with them in general environmental class. Third, in students' satisfaction with environmental class, the students in the environmental collage making class appeared to be higher compared with them in general environmental class.

        Automation and robotization has been required in construction for several decades and construction industry has become one of the important research areas in the field of service robotics. Especially in the steel construction, automatic recognition of structural steel members in the stockyard is emphasized. However, since the pose of steel frame in the stockyard is site dependent and also the stockyard is usually in the outdoor environment, it is difficult to determine the pose automatically. This paper adopts the recognition method based on the augmented reality to cope with this problem. Particularly focusing on the light condition of the outdoor environment, we formulated the optimization problem with the constraint and suggested the methodology to evaluate the optimal camera arrangement. From simulation results, sub-optimal solution for the position of the camera can be obtained.

        본 논문에서는 사용자의 손을 인식하여 가상현실 게임 환경에서 가상의 손을 제어할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 카메라를 통해 획득한 영상을 통하여 사용자의 손 이동과 가리키는 방향에 대한 정보를 획득하고 이를 이용하여 가상의 손을 게임 화면에 나타낸다. 사용자의 손의 움직임은 가상의 손이 물건을 선택하고 옮기도록 하는 입력 인터페이스로 활용할 수 있다. 제안하는 방법은 비전 기반 손 인식 기법으로 먼저 RGB 컬러영역에서 HSV 컬러영역으로 입력영상을 변환하고 H, S 값에 대한 이중 임계값과 연결 요소 분석을 이용하여 손 영역을 분할한다. 다음으로 분할된 영역에 대하여 0, 1차 모멘트를 적용하고 이를 이용하여 손 영역에 대한 무게 중심점을 구한다. 구해진 무게중심점은 손의 중심에 위치하게 되며, 분할된 손 영역의 픽셀 집합 중 무게중심점으로부터 멀리 떨어진 픽셀들을 손가락의 끝점으로 인식한다. 마지막으로 무게중심점과 손 끝점에 대한 벡터를 통하여 손의 축을 구한다. 인식 안정성과 성능을 높이기 위하여 누적 버퍼를 이용한 떨림 보정과 경계상자를 이용한 처리 영역을 설정하였다. 본 논문의 방법은 기존의 비전 기술을 통한 손 인식 방법들에 비하여 별도의 착용 마커를 두지 않고 실시간으로 처리가 가능하다. 다양한 입력 영상들에 대한 실험 결과는 제안 기법으로 정확하게 손을 분할하고, 안정된 인식 결과를 고속으로 처리할 수 있음을 보여주었다.

        Since the effect of environmental education at class using textbooks or materials related to environment is limited, the importance of activities for field experience is getting increased day by day. Thereby, the education tends to change into the type of education providing students with direct environmental experience. Students attending the science high school have excellent aptitude and ability for science and will lead the development of science in the future. Now it is urgent to develop various experiential programs which are helpful for them to establish desirable values on environment. However, the field of environmental education that allows science high school students equipped with ample environmental knowledge to improve environment sensitivity and have proper environment awareness is quite restricted as of now. Natural exploration activities are the programs which provide science high school students having lack of chance for environmental education with good opportunities to contact nature and also play significant roles in arousing their interest in issues related with environment. Therefore, it is thought that they will let science high school students explore the natural features of Korea, understand the importance of preserving environment and ecosystem profoundly, and encourage environmental awareness and will of environmental practice. Thereupon, with the study subjects of 121 first and second graders at U Science High School, this article analyzed their recognition of the necessity for environmental education and environmental pollution problems before and after the natural exploration activities, and conducted a survey on their satisfaction after the natural exploration activities and analyzed it. The result of this research is as follows. First, it was shown that the natural exploration activities were effective to raise the science high school students’ awareness of issues related with environmental pollution. Second, the natural exploration activities had effect upon enhancing the students’ willingness of environmental practice. Third, there was statistically significant correlation between the science high school students’ satisfaction with the natural exploration activities and their achievement in the science subject. Fourth, there also was a statistically non or weakness significant correlation between their satisfaction with the natural exploration activities and preference for the science subject. In particular, it was found that students preferring biology indicated higher satisfaction.

        The purpose of this research was to evaluate rural housing environment through evaluation of the two parties, public officials, the interest group and residents, the beneficiaries surveying general understanding and measuring difference in understanding between public officials and residents. Through the difference in understanding, this study was to propose effective promotion method and desirable direction of rural housing environment. For progress hereafter, by seeking active involvement of residents, this study proposed possible renewal plan of residential environment. Process of this study was first, research documents to examine several rural housing environment related promotions, and several analysis techniques like principal component analysis, multiple regression analysis used to understand different ideas Opinion of Public Officials and Inhabitants. Then take surveys of residents living in renewal zone, and surveys of public officials of borough, which already performed renewal projects to evaluate comprehensively as either residents' or administrators' view.

        본 연구는 중학생들의 환경에 대한 인식은 어떠한 특징을 나타내며, 도시와 읍면 지역 학생들의 인식은 어떤 차이를 보이는지를 알고자 하였다. 환경 교과를 운영하고 있지 않은 경기도 중소 도시 중학교의 학생 182명과 경상북도 읍면 지역에 위치한 중학교의 학생 179명을 대상으로 환경에 대한 그림 그리기 활동과 그림에 대한 설명, 그림에 등장하는 환경요소를 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 자연 공간, 인간 공존 공간, 인간 지원 공간, 인간 영향 공간으로서 환경이 세부 분류되었으며, 다수의 학생들이 인간에 의해 영향을 받고 수정되는 공간으로 환경을 인식하였다.

        Recently, simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) approaches employing Rao-Blackwellized particle filter (RBPF) have shown good results. However, no research is conducted to analyze the result representation of SLAM using RBPF (RBPF-SLAM) when particle diversity is preserved. After finishing the particle filtering, the results such as a map and a path are stored in the separate particles. Thus, we propose several result representations and provide the analysis of the representations. For the analysis, estimation errors and their variances, and consistency of RBPF-SLAM are dealt in this study. According to the simulation results, combining data of each particle provides the better result with high probability than using just data of a particle such as the highest weighted particle representation.

        This paper is concerned with face recognition for human-robot interaction (HRI) in robot environments. For this purpose, we use Tensor Subspace Analysis (TSA) to recognize the user's face through robot camera when robot performs various services in home environments. Thus, the spatial correlation between the pixels in an image can be naturally characterized by TSA. Here we utilizes face database collected in u-robot test bed environments in ETRI. The presented method can be used as a core technique in conjunction with HRI that can naturally interact between human and robots in home robot applications. The experimental results on face database revealed that the presented method showed a good performance in comparison with the well-known methods such as Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) in distant-varying environments.

        Recently, many vision-based navigation methods have been introduced as an intelligent robot application. However, many of these methods mainly focus on finding an image in the database corresponding to a query image. Thus, if the environment changes, for example, objects moving in the environment, a robot is unlikely to find consistent corresponding points with one of the database images. To solve these problems, we propose a novel navigation strategy which uses fast motion estimation and a practical scene recognition scheme preparing the kidnapping problem, which is defined as the problem of re-localizing a mobile robot after it is undergone an unknown motion or visual occlusion. This algorithm is based on motion estimation by a camera to plan the next movement of a robot and an efficient outlier rejection algorithm for scene recognition. Experimental results demonstrate the capability of the vision-based autonomous navigation against dynamic environments.

        이 연구는 초등학교 6학년 학생의 환경 인식은 어떤 특징을 가지고 있으며, 학생이 생활하는 지역에 따라 환경 인식은 어떤 차이가 있는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 광주광역시와 경기도에 위치한 5개교 10학급 340명을 대상으로 환경에 대한 그리기 활동과 그림에 대한 설명 그리고 그림에 등장하는 환경 요소를 분석하여 학생들의 환경 인식을 확인하였다. 연구 결과, 환경에 대한 인식은 인공 환경, 자연 환경, 인간 공존 환경, 추상적 환경으로 표면화 되었으며, 생물과 무생물 및 인공물을 포함한 다양한 환경 요소들을 표현하여 학생들의 일상적인 생활 주변의 환경 요소에 대한 높은 인식이 드러난 것으로 보인다. 5 유형으로 구분한 거주 지역별 학생들이 갖는 환경 인식은 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았고 인공 환경으로 인식하는 경우가 일반적이었다.

        This study was conducted to suggest some alternatives to facilitate consumers’ purchase of EAP (Environment-friendly Agricultural Products) by comparing purchasers and nonpurchasers in terms of their socio-economic characteristics, EAP purchasing behaviors and perceptions, and overall evaluation on EAP. Data were collected by 562 Gwangju citizens selected through snowball and convenient sampling procedures in 2007. Purchasers were more likely to be female, older, and in a higher income level than nonpurchasers. Purchasers, who were more knowledgeable about EAP, had a higher tendency to obtain EAP information through more diverse sources, and more relied on EAP certification mark to distinguish EAP. Purchasers were also more concerned about the safety from pesticides and had more confidence in the safety of EAP than nonpurchasers. Purchasers were more likely to perceive the importance of "facilitation of EAP’ and "providing education and information about EAP’ than nonpurchasers. Generally purchasers tended to be more satisfied with EAP and higher intention to increase their EAP purchase in the future. Implications of the results were discussed.

        This study investigated the environmental awareness synthetically with the drawing activity for making up for the weak points in the writing test that cannot measure emotional aspects. This study found that students have negative viewpoints on reasonable judgement for the present and future environment of the earth, while they show hope to live in better environment in their mind. Furthermore, it found that the drawing activity can be adopted as a complement for the traditional measuring method of the environmental awareness, through which this middle school students' sensibility to the environment can be shown. It also inferred that the drawing activity can be used as a way of education during school classes for environment and it can increase the sensibility to the environment in mind.

        This paper is concerned with the template-based face recognition from robot camera images with illumination and distance variations. The approaches used in this paper consist of Eigenface, Fisherface, and Icaface which are the most representative recognition techniques frequently used in conjunction with face recognition. These approaches are based on a popular unsupervised and supervised statical technique that supports finding useful image representations, respectively. Thus we focus on the performance comparison from robot camera images with unwanted variations. The comprehensive experiments are completed for a databases with illumination and distance variations.

        A survey of middle school students and teachers in Mokpo city has been done to understand the perception of environment of students and the present situation of environmental education in middle school. Only 2 of the 14 middle schools have chosen the environmental education course as a required subject. The majority of middle-school students in Mokpo city have learned the environmental education as a subordinate course included in the other subjects such as science, social science or technology. The environmental education in school has been done mostly through non-subject activities such as club activity, group work etc. The survey shows that almost all students think the environmental pollution is serious problem(83% of respondents) and they are especially interested in separate garbage collection(72%) and environmental conservation activity(63.9%) to protect the environment. The concerns about the environmental problems of students(57.7%) has increased after environmental education regardless educational methods or subjects. The students and teachers think that environmental education in school has not been carried out enough and almost all of them(68.4% of students, 97.5% of teachers) agree that the environmental education should be done as an independent subject. In order to more practical and effective environmental education, many opportunities to experience environmental conservation activities should be given during the environmental education course and the environmental education should be separated from other subjects to be taught independently. Moreover, it might be necessary to increase proportion of teachers in environmental disciplines and to develop various teaching methods.

        Hospital garden is a type of healing garden or therapeutic landscape as it can offer vital opportunities to contact with nature and have influence upon the mood, stress level, and well-being of users especially patients in need of physical and mental healing. This study was carried out to guide the future planning and design of hospital garden built on the rooftop environment through a Post-Occupancy Evaluation(POE). The roofgarden at Asan Medical Center was evaluated with regards to user's cognition and satisfaction by in-depth interviews and questionnaires. The results are summarized as follows; the users' main behaviors include 'talking', 'resting', 'walking or exercise', 'change of mood', and 'smoking'. The hospital roofgarden was perceived as convenient, and simple space. Factor analysis showed space-images represented by eight factors, 'convenience', 'usefulness', 'maintenance', 'extensity', 'identity', 'crowding', 'privacy', 'complexity'. Rooftop environment was valued for natural setting in artificial construction and users responded affirmatively to 'accessibility', 'view', and. 'fresh air', which were revealed to be factors affecting satisfaction. Changes for the garden such as 'more green shades', 'more seatings', and 'smooth pavement' were requested by users. l11ese research findings make some suggestions; it is necessary to furnish shaded seats for passive behaviors and smooth pathways for a walk or a light exercise. Hospital garden should be designed to provide various visual and functional experiences for patients. Natural shades like tree or pergolas are more desirable than artificial shades giving comfort to the hospital users. For patients and nonsmokers, separated smoking area in the hospital roofgarden would be helpful.
