        Purgatory includes as its main themes Yeats’s feeling of crisis and anxiety as an Anglo-Irish who was alienated from the Irish society, his skeptical view of the modern Ireland which was seeking after materialism and his predilection for eugenic thought. In Purgatory, Yeats reveals those representative themes of his later writing using the conventions of Gothic: for instance, the supernatural modes such as the transgression of the ancestors, whose tragic result affects the present, the ruined house, wild landscape, and the ghosts, the theme of ‘life in death’ and ‘the death in life’, the opposition of nature and culture and the Freudian psychological characteristics such as ‘the return of the repressed’ and ‘the uncanny.’ This paper aims to analyse how Yeats borrows and modifies those traditional Gothic conventions to convey his themes in a more effective and impressive way and to finally argue that Yeats came to be skeptical about the heroic theme and its representation. Yeats places the old man as a narrator who speaks for his thoughts, but at the same time he puts him as an unreliable narrator and shows us his limitation. Here arises irony, through which Yeats reconsiders his heroic theme that he has insisted throughout his lifetime. Through the old man’s failure to save his mother from her repeated pain of purgatory and his consequent helplessness, Yeats reveals the anti-heroic theme.

        Introducing International Style, P. Johnson and H. R. Hitchcock gave three standards to be the Modern, volume and surface, regularity, and exclusion of applied decoration. In spite of the negation of stylistic, formal approach in the Modernist Manifestoes, one usually have understood Modernity in Architecture with its formal character, especially with no ornament and flat, abstract, white surface. Modernism as a new paradigm in architecture have emphasized that there is no representation of anything outside and only present architecture in itself. They said that Modernism only cared about the language of Architecture without figural reference. So apparently there is no way to prove to its Modernity with formal condition. Modernity is in Spirit and contents. But actually we understand well its existence by visual communication This study deals with this difficult situation how Modernity represents itself without visual media and asks the question how simultaneously it presents its thingness and materiality In order to analyse contradictory situation between representation and presentation in Modern Architecture we need to survey the historical process of changing position of ornaments and its meaning in time. With the crisis of representation the role of ornament have seriously changed and divided. It caused the two situation in pre-Modern Architecture. Firstly, Architecture tend to be a high art and formal expression became important much more. The Use of Ornament became a kind of fashion to show the power, class, money. Secondly, Ornament lost its cultural weight and the structure and material aspect became the central in architecture. Rational Structuralism would be the essential character in Modern Architecture. Here the theory of G. Semper and A. Loos on cladding(dressing) and Ornament can help its problems and limits. In the situation without conventional ornament Modernists need to present modernity with new media that only show the thing itself and by that it does not represent any thing else as like the value, idea outside buildings. They believed that only it concerned esthetics and morality in architecture. But in reality it referred to art and machines as like ships, aircraft, and cars. By excluding Ornament and showing the process of clearing, abstract, flat, white surface 'represent' Modernity by the indirect way referring the concept of transparency, reason, sanitation, tectonics, etc. An Ideology and myth intervened architectural discourse to make the doxa about the representation in Architecture. Surface must be a different kind of media and message that can communicate in different way with compared to conventional Ornament. Decorated Shed by R. Venturi and Post-Functionalism by P. Eisenman, that are the most famous post-modern discourse, shows well difficult and contradictory condition in contemporary architecture concerning representation and form, meaning and form.

        Euclidean Voronoi diagram of spheres in 3D has not been explored as much as it deserves even though it has significant potential impacts on diverse applications in both science and engineering. In addition, studies on the data structure for its topology have not been reported yet. Presented in this paper is the topological representation for Euclidean Voronoi diagram of spheres which is represented as a cell structure as one of typical non-manifold models. The topological representation is a variation of radial edge data structure with a consideration on the topological characteristics of Euclidean Voronoi diagram of spheres distinguished from general non-manifold models and Euclidean Voronoi diagram of points. Various topological queries in the Voronoi diagram are also presented and analyzed.

        Fuzzy information representation of multi-source spatial data is applied to landslide hazard mapping. Information representation based on frequency ratio and non-parametric density estimation is used to construct fuzzy membership functions. Of particular interest is the representation of continuous data for preventing loss of information. The non-parametric density estimation method applied here is a Parzen window estimation that can directly use continuous data without any categorization procedure. The effect of the new continuous data representation method on the final integrated result is evaluated by a validation procedure. To illustrate the proposed scheme, a case study from Jangheung, Korea for landslide hazard mapping is presented. Analysis of the results indicates that the proposed methodology considerably improves prediction capabilities, as compared with the case in traditional continuous data representation.

        각 산업분야의 엔지니어들은 각종 정보기술을 이용하여 통합환경을 구축해 오고 있다. 통합환경 구축을 위한 핵심기술은 표준화된 정보를 기반으로 한 데이터베이스이다. 본 연구에서는 이와 같은 요구사항에 대처하고 각종업무에서 발생하는 전자정보를 통합하기 위한 일환으로 강교량의 설계정보를 포함하는 데이터베이스를 구축하였다. 데이터베이스 구축과정에서 데이터 구조로 사용된 데이터모델은 국제 표준 즉, ISO/STEP(STandard for the Exchange of Product model data)을 기반으로 강교량의 설계정보를 표현할 수 있도록 기하부분과 비기하부분으로 분류되었다. 기하부분의 정보는 기존정보의 재사용이 가능하도록 3차원 솔리드모델로 표현하고, 비기하부분의 정보는 표준 데이터모델 개발 방법론에 의거해 분석된 정보요구사항을 표현하였다. 개발된 데이터모델의 검증을 위해서, 본 연구에서는 EXPRESS Engine을 이용하여 모델의 구문을 검토하였으며, 한남대교의 설계 데이터를 데이터베이스에 저장하여 개발된 모델의 타당성을 입증하였다

        3차원 지도제작의 목적은 지표기복 표현을 위한 지도화를 지향하고 있기 때문에 위치, 고도, 방향, 인문 요소들이 간과되기 쉽다. 본 연구는 3차원 지도상에서 양적인 공간정보들이 파악될 수 있도록 효과적인 지도화 방법에 관하여 논하고자 하였다. 3차원지도는 DEM을 이용하여 고도별 RGB 코드에 의한 8단계의 색상기복도, 정사영투영도, 동영상을 제작하였다. 여기에 고도와 위치 정보 그리고 인문ㆍ자연 정보들을 일반화 과정을 거쳐 중첩시켰다. 동영상은 수치지도와 위성영상을 사용하였고 이동에 따른 관찰자의 위치와 고도, 거리, 이동방향에 대한 정보를 파악할 수 있도록 제작하였다. 본 연구에서 제작된 지도는 기존의 지형도 및 단순 3차원 지도에 비해 지형의 기복, 위치, 고도 및 인문ㆍ자연 정보들에 대한 시각적 효과를 높일 수 있다. 앞으로 3차원 지도의 효과적인 지도화를 위해 색상모델, 2차원 지리정보의 3차원 지도화, 그리고 일반화에 관한 연구가 보완되어야 할 것이다.

        Progressive mesh representation and generation have become one of the most important issues in network-based computer graphics. However, current researches are mostly focused on triangular mesh models. On the other hand, solid models are widely used in industry and are applied to advanced applications such as product design and virtual assembly. Moreover, as the demand to share and transmit these solid models over the network is emerging, the representation and the generation of progressive solid models depending on specific engineering needs and purpose are essential. In this paper, we present a Cellular Topology-based approach to generating progressive solid models from a feature-based solid model. The proposed approach introduces a new scheme for storing and transmitting solid models over the network. The Cellular Topology approach makes it possible to effectively generate progressive solid models and to efficiently transmit the models over the network.

        본 연구에서는 3차원 곡면의 매개변수식 기하 표현법과 계층적/관계형 자료 구조를 이용하여 3차원 터널을 자동으로 모델링할 수 있는 방안을 제시한다. 매개변수식 기하 표현법과 계층적/관계형 자료 구조의 이용은 3차원 터널 표현의 일반화와 확장성을 제공하며 해석을 위한 터널 구조의 특성을 정확하게 처리할 수 있게 한다. 그리고 터널 곡면의 곡률 특징을 이용하여 2차원 요소망 생성 알고리즘을 사용하여 3차원 요소망을 자동으로 생성할 수 있다.

        지난 수 십년 간 컴퓨터는 구조설계에 있어서 그 이용이 증가하고 있다. 구조설계를 위한 컴퓨터 시스템을 개발하기 위해서는 먼저 구조설계에 관련된 정보와 작업을 정형화한 표현이 필요하다. 본 논문은 구조설계에서 설계정보와 설계작업의 이해와 표현이 어려운 분야의 하나인 시스템설계에 대하여 논하고 있으며, 빌딩 프레임구조물의 시스템 설계정보를 표현하는 한 방법을 기술하고 있다. 3차원 공간을 표시하기 위하여 기준평면과 그리드 라인을 정의하였으며, 빌딩 프레임구조물의 시스템을 프레임 서브시스템, 플로어 서브시스템, 시스템요소 기둥의 세 종류의 요소로 분해하였다. 시스템요소 기둥은 프레임의 요소가 아니고, 시스템의 요소이다. 시스템 설계정보를 표현하기 위한 이와 같은 방법을 개체형 통합설계모델의 표기법을 이용하여 표시하였다. 개체형 통합설계모델은 설계정보와 설계작업을 표현하기 위하여 각각 프로덕트 개체와 프로세스 개체를 이용한다. 시스템 설계정보를 위하여 본 논문에서 정의한 프로덕트 개체들은 정형화된 시스템 설계정보를 표현하는데, 이것은 구조설계 CAD 시스템 개발에 유용하다.

        Architectural Drawing has been settled down the very effective means of exchanging their architectural ideas and data on the construction process. However, it was not easy to conserve the original drawings, which aims had been accomplished, at the same time, building was built. The same phenomena were occurred in our traditional architectural construction project, especially before pre-modern age. And do not understand soundly building documentation accepted by craftsmen in the period of earliest Chosun dynasty and how to present their idea and information of architectural as means of sketches and drawings. So, this paper aimed to clarify the drawing occurrence and the development steps of their rendering, representation methodology in the construction process in Sannungdogam-Uuigue, which were the construction documents of government based on the royal family's tomb and building projects in the late Chosun Dynasty. There are three development stages of architectural space representation, pre-drawing stage, drawing occurring stage and drawing settlement stage, They had been adapted unique drawing presentation method which were drawn by artisan, so called Doseol(圖說)and Painter Hwawon(畵員) The results are 1. In the Pre-drawing stage, they had been used the systematic explanation method of character 2. Do not have the evidence of adapting drawing before 17th centry, it was originated in early 17's century started with Onga(甕家). Onga's Drawing was drawn very elementary skill, and became development, settlement and standardization of their drawing representation around 19th century 3. The drawing presented by client's recognition view of space and building, integrated data within a sheet of drawing with practical and hierarchy and using graphic and description.

        Mekuro-Kazoen BLDG. is a complex of office, hotel, and banquet halls, builted in 1991, Tokyo, Japan. This building suggest us various issues about the representation of traditionality in current architecture. We can find the possibility of representation of traditionality in large complex, in past, rarely applicated. Even in Japan, such trial in official building as New Office Building of Tokyo in Sinzuku shows a application only in the elevation plan. In Mekuro-Kazoen BLDG, the applications of traditionality are found not only in external appearance, but also in interior design. And the traditional Japanese gardens in front of building and in atrium enrich the traditionality And the modenity and traditionality in this building are represented simultaneously not deteriorating each other. The issue of representation of traditionality in architecture should be succeed not only in now but also in the future. The method of application need to be studied and improved. The fields of application also should be extended such as large complex buildings and future-oriented buildings.

        As a result of this study, an attempt to emphasize the effect of perspective through the factors of spatial constitution is considered that, in Mwaeom thought, the establishment of the basic situation for cherishing the religious experience as Seonjae Dongja's course of ascetic practice, was needed. Therefore, placing of gates, terrace make-up and the changing spaces and constitution that the space under a castle moves from narrow darkness to wide brightness, express the steps of the course of ascetism. Through this, it gives observers dramatic changes and expectation to their sensual feeling. The emphasis on the perceptibility of Muryang Sujeon, Anyang Loo and the terrace by using a perspertive technique can be interpreted as an intention to express the very delightedness at the last moment the truth is perceived.

        The perspective representation and its effect that appeared in the tombs and mural paintings of koguryo are summarized as follows: First, The inside structure of the tombs is likely to show the deepness effect, placing each function in the front and both sides centering around the mane pillars and creating the boundaries and the spaces that have various visibility between the inside and outside spaces of the structure just like a traditional Korean house shows. In addition, The deepness effect is emphasized by suggesting that the spaces are countinued with a storage attached behind the main house or by forming the level and deployment in a narrow space like the scene that a large array is looked out from the main house. Second, The deepness effect is expressed by making the form of ceiling turn to a vertical space of an ascending image, constructing it just as the lotus lamp ceiling of a wooden architecture or drawing it just like the imaginary heavenly world with the sun the moon and mythical fairies and animals spread in it. Thried, The perspective effect is disclosed by drawing the mural pictures in an equally set bird's-eye view without regard to the disfance proportion according to the conceptual visualization which is not a visual penetration, adopting the multiple view points and moving view points that are moving around as an important manner of seeing. Fourth, The deepness effect is emphasized through the scene of changing spaces when they are looked out far or looked into depending on a viewpoint of the daily life by forming the fromes of paintings that we made up with actual pillars, Du Gong, crossbeams or that are painted in most tombs. Fifth, The rich spatial senses are reflected by originating the characters of the three directions, level, deployment and ascending. An example which can support the conclusion of this study can be given here. that is, the construction ground plan of a dwelling house of a nobleman at the end of Koguryo as a remain which was excavated at Dongdae Ja in Jip An.

        Architecture is a shelter for society whose social pattern requires a specific form to accord with its material and spiritual needs. Providing a truly acceptable architecture requires our deeper understanding of cultural tradition - mythic values - not only because myth is an interpreted and configured form of 'thing' through man's second nature, such as his subjective and objective consciousness -'self-revelation of the absolute'- but also because, in the world of mythical imagination, a fragment of substantial reality -'thing'- becomes an equivalent mode to the signification, and emerges as 'its independent spiritual form' and 'the characteristic force of the logos.' In this sense, myth of place and myth behind tectonic form are the most essential sources for comprehending people's relationship to the world of inner and conscious experience. The recent efforts of modern architects to achieve cultural continuity should begin with re-interpretation and configulation of the myths behind describable material culture, especially artistic imagination inspired by deeper understanding of the myth of place. Myth provide artists with a creative inspiration, as they did in the past.

        노후 구조물의 안전진단을 위하여 동적재하시험을 수행하고 그 결과를 유한요소모델과 같은 해석적 모델과 결합하여 기존구조물의 강성평가 및 파손부위 색출에 적용하고 있는데 측정점의 제한성과 유한요소모델의 많은 자유도가 측정데이타를 유한요소모델과 연계하는데 커다란 문제점으로 대두된다. 본 연구에서는 유한요소모델과 같이 많은 자유도를 갖는 구조계의 해석적 모델을 측정데이타와 결합하기 위하여 축약된 좌표계에서 구조계의 동강성행렬(dynamic stiffness matrix)표현방법을 제시하였다. 유한요소모델로부터 좌표계를 축약시 필연적으로 발생되는 주파수의존성(frequency dependency)을 고려하기 위하여 주파수영역에서 Chebyshev다항식으로 축약된 동강성행렬을 표시하였고 특이점에서 발생되는 악조건(ill-condition)을 극복하기 위하여 특이해분리(singular value decomposition)기법을 사용하였다. 제시된 방법의 검증을 위하여 간단한 구조계에 대하여 시뮬레이션을 수행하였으며 본 방법으로 수립된 구조계의 동적모델은 축약이전의 전체계에 대한 동적특성을 비교적 정확히 유지하고 있고 일반적으로 사용되는 정적축약 형태의 수학적 모델보다 우수함을 알 수 있었다.
