        전통적인 화석 에너지 자원의 고갈과 환경오염 악화 등의 관점에서 볼 때 에너지 절약 및 배출가스의 저감은 동시에 해결해야 되는 문제로 대두되고 있다. 바이오연료는 대체연료의 하나로서 이러한 문제들을 효과적으로 해소할 수 있는 대안으로 떠오르고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 커먼레일 터보과급디젤기관에서 카놀라유 바이오디젤연료의 적용효과를 알아보기 위하여 실험적으로 고찰하였다. 실험에 사용된 연료는 ULSD(초저황 디젤유), BD20(체적비로 20%인 카놀라유와 80% 디젤유 혼합) 및 PCO(순수한 카놀라유)를 사용하였다. 카놀라유 바이오디젤연료의 혼합율이 증가함에 따라 입자상물질(PM)과 일산화탄소 (CO)는 크게 감소하였으며, 질소산화물(NOx)은 약간 증가하는 현상을 보였다.

        In this study, the possibility of biodiesel fuel and oxygenated fuel(dimethoxy methane, DMM) was investigated as an alternative fuel for a naturally aspirated direct injection diesel engine. The smoke emission of blending fuel (diesel fuel 90vol-% + DMM 10vol-%) was reduced approximately 70% at 2500rpm, full load in comparison with the diesel fuel. But, engine power and brake specific energy consumption showed no significant differences. But, NOx emission of biodiesel fuel and DMM blended fuel increased compared with commercial diesel fuel due to the oxygen component in the fuel. It was needed a NOx reduction counter plan that EGR method was used as a countermeasure for NOx reduction. It was found that simultaneous reduction of smoke and NOx emission was achieved with diesel fuel (95 vol-%) and DMM (5 vol-%) blended fuel and cooled EGR method (15%).

        Biodiesel fuel (BDF) can be effectively used as an alternative fuel in diesel engines. The BDF, however, may affect performance and exhaust emissions of the diesel engine because it's physical and chemical properties are different with from the diesel fuel such as viscosity, compressibility and so on. To investigate an effect of injection timing on characteristics of performance and exhaust emissions with the BDF in an IDI diesel engine, this research applied the BDF derived from soybean oil in this study. The engine was operated with six different injection timings from TDC to BTDC 12 ˚CA and six different loads at the engine speed of 1500 and 2000 rpm. In less then the BDF 20, it showed the similar trend compare to the diesel fuel. But, the best injection timing was 2˚CA retarded compare to the diesel fuel with BDF 50.

        This paper investigates the waveform analysis of voltage and current waveform from CRDI engine. It is on developing on analysis method of waveform CRDI Diesel engine. The experimental methods using Pico oscilloscope are employed to measure current and voltage waveform of solenoid injector from CRDI engine. The one normal and two abnormal solenoid injectors are used. The experiment is carried out during no-load condition. A summary of the important results are as follows. 1) The area of the voltage and current waveform of the abnormal injector becomes larger than the that of normal injector. 2) The area of the current waveform can be obtained more accurate results than that of voltage waveform.

        The performance of organic Rankine cycle was numerically investigated to recover heat from the exhaust of a heavy-duty diesel engine. Exhaust flow rates and temperatures are obtained from the simulation of diesel cycle by using GT-Power. The net power outputs of organic Rankine cycle for 9 working fluids were calculated by cycle simulations. The results showed that as for the net power outputs and the pressure of working fluids, R21 and R245fa are suitable as working fluids for ORC in diesel engine.

        Biodiesel as alternative energy source of the traditional petroleum fuels has increased interest, because environmental pollution based exhaust emissions from vehicle became serious. The advantage of biodiesel produced from esterification of vegetable and animal oils can be used without the modification of existing diesel engine, but glycerin is generated by production process. In this study, the usability of non-esterification biodiesel as an alternative fuel was investigated in a indirect injection diesel engine. The non-esterification biodiesel has not generated glycerin in esterification process and reduced the 20 percent of cost because it has not used methanol in the production process. Experiments were conducted by using the 5, 10 and 20 percentage of biodiesel and 4 and 8 percentage of biodiesel with 1 and 2 percentage of WDP in baseline diesel fuel. The smoke emission of biodiesel was reduced in comparison with diesel fuel, but power, torque and brake specific energy consumption was similar to diesel fuel.

        The main purpose of this paper was to analyze the removal characteristics of gas/particulate phase pollutants for the present system. Experimentally, we performed to estimate the pressure drop and air pollution removal efficiency with physical variables such as stage number, tube velocity, tube diameter, water spray (NH4OH), and so on. It was concluded that the pressure drop was shown below 111 mmH2O lower than that of the existing scrubber (centrifugal spray chamber, over 200 mmAq) at inlet velocity 3.46 m/s and 5 stage. The particular removal efficiency of this system was to be significantly higher at 99.8% in comparison with that of the existing scrubber for 5 stage, inlet velocity 3.46 m/s and NH4OH (aq) 300 mL/min. It was estimated that the removal efficiencies of SO2 and NO2 were 80% and 70% at system inlet velocity 2.07 m/s and NH4OH (aq) 300 mL/min respectively. Additionally, the present collection system was to be considered as an effective compact system for simultaneous removal of air pollutants (gas/particulate) due to much higher removal efficiency and appropriate pressure drop without a demister.

        This study analyzed by measuring the voltage waveform of the injector intended for operating CRDI diesel vehicle. The cases of the EGR trouble and a EGR normal is considered. 1) The voltage waveform in the case of the normal and trouble, the difference between the maximum voltage was not large, decrease in the number of voltage gated pulses with the increase in engine speed, sustained current remained for this period. 2) The voltage waveform, comparing the case of the normal case and trouble, the size of the maximum voltage, no large change in gate pulse voltage is to be generated than in the case of a defective irregular longer opening time of the injector factor it was possible to know the bad influence on the fuel efficiency.

        Our environment is faced with serious problems related to the air pollution from automobiles in these days. In particular, the exhaust emissions from the diesel engines are recognized main cause which influenced environment strong. In this study, the potential of biodiesel fuel and oxygenated fuel (ethylene glycol mono-n-butyl ether; EGBE) was investigated as an effective method of decreasing the smoke emission. The smoke emission of blending fuel (EGBE 0~20 vol-%) was reduced in comparison with diesel fuel and it was reduced approximately 64% at 2000 rpm, full load in the 20% of blending rate. But torque and brake specific energy consumption (BSEC) didn't have no large differences. But, NOx emissions from biodiesel fuel and EGBE blended fuel were increased compared with diesel fuel.

        The main object of this study is to investigate the collection characteristics of an electro-static multi-staged impaction system, experimentally. The experiment is carried out to analyze the characteristics of pressure drop and collection efficiency for the present system with the experimental parameters such as the inlet velocity, stage number, applied voltage and shape of discharge electrode, etc. In results, the pressure drop is shown below 148 mmH2O lower than that of the conventional bag filter at inlet velocity 3.46 m/s and 5 stage. For 5 stage , the collection efficiencies are to be 97.4, 99.0% with the applied voltage 0 kV at the inlet velocity 2.07, 3.46 m/s, while 98.4, 99.9% with 40 kV of a sharp edge discharge electrode. Additionally, the present system is to be considered as an effective compact system for a removal of particulate pollutants from marine diesel engines due to much higher collection efficiency and appropriate pressure drop.

        Diesel engines show better thermal efficiency and fuel consumption, but diesel engines typically generate more NOx emissions because of lean-burn conditions. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the emissions of diesel engines either by efficiently controlling combustion or by employing exhaust gas after-treatment systems. In this study several problems we're observed in a SCR system and Engine control system. The analysis result, new technology SCR is suitable for the vehicle with low temperature operating condition. Through this analysis we can find out more effective repair factors from the various fault in SCR component.

        Emission regulation by Europe and the U.S. on air pollutants from diesel automobiles which include particulate matter and nitrogen oxides are becoming stricter than ever. The SCR uses Urea, which is NH3 diluted by water, and chemically reacts with emission gases reducing over 90% of the NOx created. In this study several problems were observed in a SCR system and Engine control system. Through this analysis we can find out more effective repair factors from the various fault in SCR component.

        In this study, we investigated the effects of EGR rate and engine load on the emission characteristics in a 4-cylinder common rail direct injection diesel engine fueled with canola oil biodiesel (BD) blended fuel. The biodiesel blend fuel, BD20 (20 vol.% biodiesel and 80 vol.% ULSD blend) was used at an engine speed of 1,500rpm. The experimental results showed that with the increasing of EGR rate, the combustion pressure and rate of heat release (ROHR) of three test fuels were decreased, and the ignition delay was extended, the carbon monoxide (CO) and particulate matter (PM) emissions increased slightly, but the nitrogen oxide (NOx) emission decreased clearly. On the other hand, with the increasing of engine load, the combustion pressure and ROHR were increased, and the CO and PM emissions decreased. However, the NOx emission was increased due to the rise of the combustion temperature.
