        In this paper, seismic performance evaluation was carried out for eight circular reinforced concrete columns designed seismically by KRTA[1]and KCI[8]. Primary design parameters for such columns included many longitudinal reinforcements, yield strength of reinforcements, the vertical spacing of spirals, aspect ratio, and axial force ratio. The test results showed that all the columns exhibited stable hysteretic and inelastic responses. Based on the test results, drift ratios corresponding to each damage state, such as initial yielding, initial cover spalling, initial core concrete crushing, buckling, and fracture of longitudinal reinforcement and final spalled region, were evaluated. Then, those ratios were compared with widely accepted damage limit states. The comparison revealed that the existing damage states were considerably conservative. This implies that additional research is required for the damage limit states of such columns designed seismically by current Korean design codes.

        The seismic evaluation of electric power facilities in the switchyard of nuclear power plants is currently insufficient. In order to evaluate the seismic performance of lightning arrester subjected to four types of earthquake (near- and far-fault earthquakes, NEHRP Site Class A&B and D earthquakes), seismic fragility analysis using maximum likelihood estimation is performed considering various damage states. The comparison of the seismic fragility curves for three main parts of lightning arrester that are the busing, anchor and steel frame, reveals that the failure of lightning arrester is governed by the bushing damage mode such as porcelain cracking.

        The purpose of this study was to determine the validity and the of the Neurobehavioral Cognitive Status Examination(NCSE) to ascertain its value in the cognitive functional evaluation of brain-injured patients. The NCSE, uses as an independent test to evaluate cognitive function within five major areas: language, construction, memory, calculation, and reasoning. And the examination separately assesses levels of consciousness, orientation, and attention. The instrument quickly identifies intact areas of functioning, yet provides more detailed assessment in areas of dysfunction. The level of cognitive is classified as unimpaired and mild, moderate, severe impaired. Standardization data are provided for 42 braininjured patients, age ranged from 24 to 76 years. In the validity study, the NCSE subtest was significantly correlated with associated Mini Mental State Examination-Korean version(MMSE-K) test, except for attention, naming, construction. The specificity score of the traumatic brain-injured patients were higher than those of the stroke patient group in attention, construction, calculation. The mean score of stroke patients were significantly higher than those of the traumatic brain-injured group in orientation. In the inter-rater and test-retest reliability, the screen Kendall's τb and Metry pearson's correlation statistics were indicating a good internal consistency. The NCSE demonstrated an acceptable validity and reliability for the evaluation of cognitive functional capacity of brain-injured patients in clinical practice.

        There are more than 9,300 bridges on the highway, of which about 34%(3,150) are PSCI bridges. The safety of these bridges is directly influenced by the tensile strength of the internal tendons(strand) and the strength of the concrete compared to the reinforcing bars from the design viewpoint. Therefore, in this paper, for the maintenance plan considering the damage of the internal tendons, the internal tendon cutting and truck loading test was conducted and deflection and appearance status change was analyzed. As a result of the test, deflection increased and flexural cracks occurred on center of the girder. And longitudinal direction cracks followed tendon placement occurred on a bottom flange.

        Damage states of an underground tunnel structure need to be defined in the estimation of its seismic fragility. They are identified in this paper by applying pushover analyses of an typical tunnel structure. Latin Hypercube sampling (LHS) technique is used to explicitly consider uncertainties in the associated design variables.

        기 시행된 관련 보고서에 의하면 외관 상태에 대한 육안 점검은 구조적 안전성 평가를 위해 대단히 중요한 부분이다. 본 연구는 개별 손상유형의 분리 평가에 의한 콘크리트 바닥판에 대하여 개선된 상태평가 방법을 제안한다. 먼저, 한데 묶여서 다루어졌던 여러 유형의 손상들을 분리하고, 다음으로 현행 지침을 토대로 가중점수를 부여하였다. 그 밖의 전반적인 과정은 혼란을 피하기 위하여 가능한 한 그대로 유지하였다. 제안된 방법을 4개의 교량에 대해 기 수행된 진단프로젝트에 적용, 시험 결과는 본 방법이 실무에서 드러난 현행 지침의 논점을 보완할 수 있다는 점에서 합리성과 적용성을 보여준다. 상세 분할 및 가중평가에 근거한 합리적인 시스템 평가와 함께 과도 손상 부재의 특별 관리로 이원화함으로써 보수·보강에 대한 적정성과 경제성을 부여하고 안전성을 확보할 수 있다. 본 연구의 이원화된 평가방법은 가치공학의 적용 영역을 유지관리 단계로 확장한다.
