        PURPOSES: The purpose of this study is to develop a method for distribution between superelevation and side friction factor by increasing design speed. METHODS: First of all, a method for distribution between superelevation and side friction factor and a theory for the functional formula of side friction factor in compliance with horizontal radius applied in South Korea and the United States are considered. Especially, design speed of 140km/h and numerical value of design elements are applied to the theory for the functional formula of side friction factor in AASHTO's methods. Also, the anxiety EEG upon running speed is measured to reflect ergonomic characteristics through field experiments at seven curve sections of the West Coast Freeway, and this data is applied to graph for the functional formula of side friction factor. RESULTS : Matching side friction factor against the anxiety EEG, the results that a critical points of driver's anxiety EEG sharply increase locate under existing parabola are figured out. CONCLUSIONS : Therefore, we could get a new type of the functional formula that driver's driving comfortability is guaranteed if the existing the functional formula of side friction factor goes down under boundary of the critical points of the anxiety EEG.

        The objective of this study is to develop 3D anthropometrical data acquisition method of human back surface and to recognise and extract its morphological characteristics. This technique is very useful in describing the sitter's back contour and the interaction between the sitter's back and the seat. The back surfaces of subjects in sitting posture are measured by using martine-type anthropometer and sliding gauge. These basic anthropometrical data are reconstructed into 3D image.

        There are many display panels in the flight cockpit and pilots get various flight information from those displays. The ergonomic layout of the displays must be determined based upon frequency of use and sequence of use. This study investigated the visual search patterns of the six display groups(one head-up-display: HUD, two multi function displays: MFDs, one engine group: EG, one flight display group: FD and others) in a fighting aircraft. Four expert pilots conducted Imaginary flight in the physical mock-up and the eye movements were collected using eye tracking system. Data of dwell time, frequency of use, and eye movement path were collected. Pilots spent most of time on HUD(55.2%), and others (21.6%), FD(14.2%), right MFD(4.7%), EG(3.2%), and left MFD(1.1%) in descending order. Similarly HUD(42.8%) and others(30.0%) were the most frequently visited displays. These data can be used in the layout of cockpit displays and the determination of optimal visual search pattern.

        기술의 발전에 따라 다양한 항해 계기들이 개발되고 있으나, 인간 과실에 의한 해양사고는 지속적으로 발생하고 있다. 따라서 사고를 감소시키기 위해 항해 장비들을 인간공학적으로 배치하고 설계하는 것이 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. 이러한 흐름에 각 국의 선급 및 해운 관련 기구에서는 인간공학적 개념을 적용한 통합선교시스템(Integrated Bridge System : IBS)에 대한 규정을 마련하고 있으며, IBS는 인간 과실로 인한 해양사고를 감소시키기 위한 설계와 정보의 제공을 중심으로 발전 할 것으로 예상된다. IBS의 일환으로, 선박 운항 시 항행정보를 하나의 모니터에 보여주는 Conning Display는 선교 근무자가 필요한 정보를 얻기 위해 취하는 부수적인 행동, 시간 등을 단축시킨다. 그러나 Conning Display 설계에 있어 표준화된 규범이 없으므로 객관적 연구가 필요한 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 설문조사와 스케치 기법, 휴리스틱 평가 등의 방법들을 통해 Conning Display의 인간공학적 설계를 위한 요소를 추출하였다. 이를 바탕으로 새로운 Conning Display를 제작하여 기존 fouling Display와 비교, 평가 실험을 실시하였다. 본 논문의 결과를 통해 향후 더 나은 Conning Display를 설계, 개발하는데 있어 인간공학적 지표를 제시하고 하나의 표본으로 사용될 수 있을 것이라 사료된다.

        Depending on the nature of a product, a design process for an ergonomic product follows a series of simple or complex stages. This paper suggested a rather practical and simple design process consisting of eight stages, i.e. design needs assessment, ergonomic guidelines, anthropometry, brainstorming and idea sketch, preliminary model, drafting and rendering, working prototype, and user trials. The feasibility of this design process was verified by applying it to the development of a modified clamping hand tool handle. The case study showed how ergonomics played a role and how ergonomists overcame design difficulties by integrating good ergonomic design practices.

        A correctly designed bridge offers improved operational safety in terms of increased vigilance, flexibility of operation, precision of control and operator's situational awareness. According1y to design human centered bridge, the consideration shall be given to the man-machine interface, location and interrelation of workstation, configuration of console, windows. field of vision and bridge working environment. The state-of-the-art suits for one-man operation by integration of conning information and central information presentation. Further, it is desirable to enable two man ship operation for emergency operations, training purposes and redundancy. In this point of view, this thesis would like to design a conceptual bridge.
