        Kimchi, a centuries-old Korean fermented food, has gained global popularity due to increased interest in Korean cuisine. However, little is known about the actual status of kimchi information provided by major foreign online encyclopedias. In this study, we analyzed the content and quality of kimchi information in major foreign online encyclopedias, such as Baidu Baike, Encyclopædia Britannica, Citizendium, and Wikipedia. Our results revealed that the kimchi information provided by these encyclopedias was often inaccurate or inadequate, despite kimchi being a fundamental part of Korean cuisine. The most common inaccuracies were related to the definition and origins of kimchi and its ingredients and preparation methods. Our findings highlight the need for more accurate and reliable information about kimchi in major foreign online encyclopedias. This is particularly important in the context of promoting Korean food culture and increasing international awareness of kimchi. To achieve this, the collaborative efforts of Korean food experts and online encyclopedias are needed to ensure the accurate representation of kimchi in these resources. In conclusion, our study shows that foreign online encyclopedias often contain incomplete, inaccurate information about kimchi. This shortcoming must be addressed to promote a more accurate and comprehensive understanding of kimchi and Korean cuisine.

        우리나라는 기상 악화 속에서 감항성이 확보된 선박만이 항해할 수 있도록 선박출항을 해사안전법에 근거하여 통제하고 있으 나 통제 대상선박 지정에 대한 과학적 평가 결과 및 정량적 근거가 미비하여, 항행안전의 확보와 합리적 출항통제 운영을 위한 개선 의견 이 제기되고 있다. 본 연구는 풍랑 주의보 발효 시 주요 통제대상 선종인 예인선의 실선계측을 통해, 현행 출항통제 기준의 적정성을 평 가하고 현실성 있게 개선될 수 있도록 정량적 근거를 제시하는 것에 연구 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 예인선에 선박의 3축 운동과 선체가속 도를 측정하는 Sensor를 설치하여 유의파고 3m인 해역 내에서 운항하여 선체운동 성능을 계측하였고, 계측된 수치를 내항성능 평가요소 및 한계 값 기준을 바탕으로 비교 분석하였다. 실측 선박은 톤수에 따른 현행 통제기준에서 제외되었으나, 분석 결과 Pitch 값이 Operation 기준을 넘어 항행안전에 위험성이 존재하였다. 본 연구 결과는 선박 출항통제 대상에 대한 검토와 다양한 선종 및 제원을 대표할 수 있는 추가적 실측연구가 필요함을 시사한다.

        울산항 정박지는 정박지 수요 대비 충분한 넓이의 면적이 확보되어 있지 않으나 이를 객관적으로 평가할 수 있는 기준이 명확하게 정의되어 있지 않은 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 현행 정박지 밀집도와 가동률 개념의 문제점을 개선한 일반식과 정박지 적정성 평가를 위한 새로운 평가 기준을 제안하였다. 그리고 이 기준을 울산항 E 정박지에 적용하여 정박지 규모의 적정성을 평가하였다. 울산항 E1 정박지의 밀집도와 가동률은 각각 129 %, 122 %로 두 평가 기법 모두 100 %를 초과하는 것으로 나타나 평가 기준에 따라 정박지 확장이 필요한 것으로 분석되었다. 이에 울산항 입출항 선박의 통항 패턴과 도선지점과의 거리를 고려하여 울산항 제1항로 끝단에서 부채꼴 모양으로 35도를 개방한 정박지 확장 방안을 제시하였고, 해상교통 항적도, 정박지 밀집도, 그리고 가동률 평가 기준을 적용하여 적정성을 검증하였다. 검증 결과 울산항 E3 정박지 남측의 확장 해역과 해상교통 항적이 일부 겹치는 부분은 존재하나 매우 미미하여 해상교통에 영향을 미칠 가능성은 희박한 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 정박지 모두에서 정박지 규모의 적정성이 확보되었음을 확인하였다.

        PURPOSES : Recently, there has been an increase in the use of discrete randomly distributed fiber materials for reinforcing pavement foundations. However, very limited study has been made on this from the perspective of pavement engineering. Therefore, this study evaluates the performance of soil-geofibers used in pavement foundations as well as the effects of stress dependency with various mixtures. METHODS: To estimate the behavior of soil-geofiber mixtures under traffic loadings, laboratory resilient modulus data for the mechanical characteristics of geofiber mixtures were used, and they were adopted to evaluate the structural response and analyze the stress dependency through 2-D finite element analysis. As the host materials, poorly graded and uniformly graded sand were selected, and each soil was mixed with three different types of fiber, namely monofilament, fibrillated, and tape. RESULTS: The stress dependent response on resilient modulus and Poisson’s ratio were mainly considered by conducting linear and nonlinear elastic analyses on various geofiber mixtures. As a result, it was found that the response and yield function of geofiber mixed layers in pavements were affected considerably depending on the gradation of the soils and the confinement conditions. A small change was found when the particle size was homogenized. CONCLUSIONS : From this, it can be concluded that the finite element model with stress dependency is suitable for estimating the performance on geofiber mixtures. It is also noted that all the responses of geofiber mixtures were relatively sensitive to the gradation of host soils. This indicates that the effects of the nonlinearity and stress-dependency of geofiber mixtures under repetitive loadings could be substantial.

        PURPOSES: The purpose of this research is to analyze the characteristics of panels that affect the evaluating results of riding quality and to evaluate the appropriateness of roughness management criteria based on ride comfort satisfaction. METHODS: In order to analyze the influence of panel characteristics of riding quality, 33 panels, consisting of civilians and experts, were selected. Also, considering the roughness distribution of the expressway, 35 sections with MRI ranging from 1.17 m/km to 4.65 m/km were selected. Each panel boarded a passenger car and evaluated the riding quality with grades from 0 to 10, and assessed whether it was satisfied or not. After removing outlier results using a box plot technique, 964 results were analyzed. An ANOVA was conducted to evaluate the effects of panel expertise, age, driving experience, vehicle ownership, and gender on the evaluation results. In addition, by using the receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve, the MRI value, which can most accurately evaluate the satisfaction with riding quality, was derived. Then, the compatibility of MRI was evaluated using AUC as a criterion to assess whether the riding quality was satisfactory. RESULTS: Only the age of the panel participants were found to have an effect on the riding quality satisfaction. It was found that satisfaction with riding quality and MRI are strongly correlated. The satisfaction rate of roughness management criteria on new (MRI 1.6 m/km) and maintenance (MRI 3.0 m/km) expressways were 95% and 53%, respectively. As a result of evaluating the roughness management criteria by using the ROC curve, it was found that the accuracy of satisfaction was the highest at MRI 3.1-3.2 m/km. In addition, the AUC of the MRI was about 0.8, indicating that the MRI was an appropriate index for evaluating the riding quality satisfaction. CONCLUSIONS: Based on the results, the distribution of the panels’age should be considered when panel rating is conducted. From the results of the ROC curve, MRI of 3.0 m/km, which is a criterion of roughness management on maintenance expressways, is considered as appropriate.

        PURPOSES : The current practice in car headlight visibility performance evaluation is based on the luminous intensity and illuminance of headlight. Such practice can be inappropriate from a visibility point of view where visibility indicates abilities to perceive an object ahead on the road. This study aimed at evaluating the appropriateness of current headlight evaluation methodMETHODS: This study measured the luminance of object and road surface at unlit roadways. The variables were measured by vehicle type and by headlight lamp type. Based on the measurements, the distance where drivers can perceive an object ahead was calculated and then compared against such distance obtained by conventional visibility performance evaluation.RESULTS: The evaluation method based on illuminance of headlight is not appropriate when viewed from the visibility concept that is based on object-perceivable distance. Further, the results indicated a shorter object-perceiving distance even when road surface luminance is higher, thereby suggesting that illuminance of headlight and luminance of road surface are not the representative indices of nighttime visibility.CONCLUSIONS : Considering that this study utilized limited vehicle types and that road surface (background) luminance can vary depending on the characteristics of the given road surface, it would likely go too far to argue that this study’s visibility performance evaluation results can get generalized to other conditions. Regardless, there is little doubt that the current performance evaluation criterion which is based on illuminance, is unreasonable. There should be future endeavors on the current subject which will need to explore study conditions further, under which more experiments should be conducted and effective methodologies developed for evaluating automotive headlight visibility performance. Needs are recognized particularly in the development of headlight visibility performance evaluation methodology which will take into account road surface (background) luminance and luminance contrast from various perspectives as the former indicates the driver’s perception of the front road alignment and the latter being indicative of object perception performance.

        PURPOSES :This study evaluates the reasonableness of the recommended amount of deicing chemicals based on historical data for snow removal. The result can be used to aid decision-making for the reservation of cost-effective de-icing chemicals.METHODS :First, the recommended amount of de-icing chemical to use and historical usage data were evaluated to identify specific usage characteristics for each region. Road maintenance length and snow-removal working days were analyzed over the past five winter seasons. Next, differences in the recommended amount of chemical to use and actual use were compared using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Last, the two types of data were analyzed using a chi-square test to verify if the two distributions of variation pattern are statistically significant. We found that there are significant differences between the data from each region during the past five winter seasons.RESULTS :The results showed that the equation for calculating the amount of de-icing chemical to use appears to be revised.CONCLUSIONS :The results imply that the equation for calculating the amount of de-icing chemical to apply as a national standard is very important when the public agency makes decisions related to snow-removal.

        When performing Chest x-ray examination to pregnant woman, normally we shield back side of abdomen. In this situation, scattered rays made by equipment and surrounding structure can enter front side of abdomen. Therefore, in this study, we evaluate suitability of abdomen shield especially to pregnant woman. In case of One shielding material placed back of abdomen, the measured value is 0.676±0.19 uSv/hr. Two shielding material is 0.764±0.04 uSv/hr. Three is 0.685±0.16 uSv/hr. The exposure dose inferred in this study does not excess annual effective dose limit. But It is not mean absolute safety. So we have to minimize occurrence of stochastic effect of radiosensitivity by shielding front side of abdomen of pregnant woman in clinic.

        동절기 강설에 따른 적절한 제설은 안전한 공항 운영의 중요 요건 중 하나이다. 이를 위해 공항에서는 충분한 장비, 인력, 설비를 확보하여야 한다. FAA는 공항규모 및 우선제설면적(공항운영에 필요한 기초 시설물 제설 면적)에 따른 제설장비 및 설비의 규모를 규정하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 이상기후 대응 및 공항 확장성을 고려하기 위한 인천국제공항 적정 제설용량 산정 연구의 일환으로, 제설장비 보유 현황 을 검토하고 그에 따른 개선사항을 제안하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 FAA AC 150/5200-20A(2014)에 따라 필요장비 수량을 산정하고 보유 장비와 비교 검토하였다. 이는 FAA 권고기준에 따른 단순 장비성능에 기 인한 것으로 실제 여건에 따라 필요한 장비수량과는 차이를 보일 수 있다. 필요수량은 검토는 규정된 온 도(4 ℃), 풍속(0 ft/h), 눈 밀도(25 lbs/ft3), 적설두께(1/12 ft) 조건에서 30분 내 인천공항의 우선제설 면적(19,218,000 ft2)을 제설하는데 필요한 제설주력 장비인 제설기(Displacement Plow)와 송풍기 (Rotary Plow)에 대해 이루어졌다. 제설기는 삽날 길이 5.5m인 장비를 기준으로 우선제설면적 전체를 대상으로 그림.1를 이용하여 산정하였고, 송풍기는 최소용량 3000t/h(ClassⅣ)을 기준으로 활주로 및 유 도로의 제설면적을 대상으로 그림.2를 이용하여 산정하였다.

        본 연구의 목적은 제7차 교육과정 지구과학 내용의 적정성을 평가하는 것이다. 이를 위해 교육과정 분석(우리나라, 미국 캘리포리아주, 영국, 일본), 우리나라와 일본 교과서의 지구과학 내용 분석과 초 중등학생, 교사, 교수, 교과서 저자에 대한 광범위한 설문조사를 실시하였다 제7차 교육과정의 지구과학 내용은 과학과 4개 영역의 균등 분배, 단원의 세분화로 인한 내용구성과 연계성 부족, 그리고 나선형 교육과정의 과도한 적용, 지나친 탐구활동 중심의 교과서 내용구성으로 인한 학습량 증가와 체계적 개념 지도의 어려움 등으로 인해 적정하게 구성되어 있지 않다고 평가할 수 있다. 이를 해결하고 지구과학 영역 내용 적정성을 확보하기 위한 방안으로는 첫째, 내용 구성 및 연계 측면에서 볼 때, 각 학년에서 다루게 되는 내용을 과학 4개 영역으로 균등하게 분배하지 말고, 단원의 크기를 다양화해야 한다. 둘째, 학습량 측면에서는 나선형 교육과정의 구성 방식을 탈피하여 학년 수준에 맞는 내용은 해당 학년에서 종료되도록 하여 학년간에 중복이 되지 않도록 해야 하고, 필수 탐구활동의 수를 줄이고 질을 높여야 한다. 셋째, 내용의 수준과 흥미 측면에서, 학생들의 지구과학에 대한 흥미를 제고할 수 있도록 자연재해, 안전, 우주 관련 분야, 자원 등을 강조해야 한다. 아울러 교육 내용 적정성의 평가 준거 중의 하나가 실현 가능성임을 고려할 때, 교육과정이 추구하는 목표가 학교 현장에서 실현될 수 있도록 주변 여건에 대한 지원이 선행되어야 할 것이다.
