        본 연구는 수도권 지역의 아까시나무림을 중심으로 식물군집의 식생구조적 특성을 분석함으로써 향후, 도시녹지의 자연성 복원을 위한 기초 자료로 제시하고자 하였다. 조사지역은 서울도심지역으로 중구 남산과 서대문구 안산, 서울외곽지역으로 은평구 봉산과 부천시, 성주산, 비도시지역으로 경기도 천마산을 선정하였다. 주요 연구분야는 생태적 특성과 복원모델로 구분하였가. 생태적 특성평가는 천이단계, 자연성 및 다층적 식생구조와 종다양성을 실시하였으며, 복원모델은 적정수종, 개체수, 흉고단면적, 수목간 최단거리를 선정하였다. 조사결과, 복원모델은 비도시지역 중 자연성이 높으며 다층구조를 이루고 있는 자생식물군집을 선정하였으며 적정식물은 교목성장 3종, 아교목성정 7종, 관목성장 16종, 주연부 수종 4종 초본식물 27종이 적절한 것으로 판단되었다. 향후, 아끼시나무림읜 자연성 복원을 위해서 자연림인 참나무류로의 천이를 유도할 수 있도록 자생종 중심의 생태적 복원방안의 모색이 이루어져할 것이다.

        The empirical research was conducted to investigate women's consumption pattern of Korean rice cakes and to analyze the preference of them by their demographic backgrounds. The results of this study provide useful informations for a systematic development of Korean rice cake. A self-completed questionnaire survey of 281 women in Seoul was undertaken and detailed information was collected from each. A questionnaire consisted of three parts including demographic backgrounds, consumption pattern and preference of Korean rice cakes, and the need assessment. Demographic variables of respondents included age, marital status, education, family style, monthly income etc. Most of them(82.6%) were married with the average age of 36.3±8.4 year old. The results of eating frequency rate showed that about half of women(49.1%) had Korean rice cake once or twice a month followed by once a week(23.1%), once per two months(13.9%), once per six months(8.2%), and once per three months(3.9%). Average preference score of 14 Korean rice cakes was 3.08±1.49 out of 5, indicating 'so-and-so'. Ingeolmi received the highest score of 4.02, whereas Duteopteok had the lowest score of 0.18. The preference score of Korean rice cake and the respondents' knowledge of them showed significantly strong positive correlation. The need-assessment score for improving the quality of Korean rice cake was 3.72±1.35 out of 5, showing moderate willingness for improvement of Korean rice cake.

        MM진도(Modified Mercalli Intensity) V이상의 한반도 지진자료에 의거하여 서울 수도권일원 (위도 37.0^{circ}~37.8^{circ} N, 경도 126.5^{circ}~127.5^{circ} E) 의 확률론적인 지진위험도가 점지진원방법에 의해 추정되었다. 전지진자료를 이용하여 추정된 지진위험도는 비교적 완전하다고 여겨지는 조선시대이후의 지진자료를 이용하여 추정된 지진위험도보다 더 낮다고 추정되었다. 수평지반가속도 0.1g 이상의 파괴적인 지진은 90% 초과확률로서 전지진자료와 조선시대이후의 지진자료가 이용되었을 때 각각 500년과 200년 기간에 발생한다.

        Near the Capital Seoul in 19th century, a special architectural form was created by the Buddhist monks who were related with Royal families. Their temples, so called 'won-dang', were constructed as supplicating places for their patrons' happiness and heavenly bliss. Among buildings of a Won-dang temple, 'Great Hall', which was accepted as a new building type, was the most important, the earliest constructed, and the biggest one. This boiling type contained the complex functions of small chaples, living rooms of monks, kitchen and dining, and pilotied pavillions. This Great Hall was located at the front of Won-dang temples, the main worship halls were at the behind. The type of Won-dang was needed for the high female who were its powerful patrons, and was oliginated from the small Buddhist temples in rural areas. And the type was able to be domiciled itself at the Capital areas because of the existing architectural fondness of the regional architects and the patrons in high class.

        A consumer survey(2, 251 residents) on marketed kimchi products in Seoul and near Seoul Area were investigated for marketablity and quality improvement of kimchi. The results obtained as follow. 1. The proportion of subjects who has bought the marketed kimchi products was 24%, some factors(ages, type of housing, family system, income) were investigated. 2. The major motivation season and favorite kinds of kimchi for purchasing the products were investigated. And Subjects bought the needed amount for 1 day at hygienic store. 3. Subjects prefered the taste of kimchi which is medium level in sour, sweet, salty and hot. The most urgent improvement for the marketed kimchi is the sanitation. If marketed kimchi were improved over the aspects, the proportion of subjects who would buy the products was 54%.

        This study analyzed characteristics of ozone (O3) formation regimes in Busan over a period of recent five years (2015~2019) and compared the findings with those obtained in Seoul. We employed four observed variations: early morning commuting-hour (i.e., 06:00-09:00 LST) nitrogen dioxide (NO2), peak-hour (i.e., 12:00-16:00 LST) O3, 8-hour average O3 (MDA8 O3), and △O3 (=O3_max- O3_min) in Busan and Seoul. In addition, the NO2-O3 relation was assessed to interpret which of NOx-limited or volatile organic compound (VOC)-limited was dominant. In Busan, the annual mean O3 concentration was relatively higher than in Seoul, whereas there were fewer high-concentration days. The Pearson correlation coefficients (R) between Early morning-hour NO2 and the Peak-hour O3 was positive (but close to zero) in Busan and negative in Seoul. Likewise, the R between the Early morning-hour NO2 and the △O3 showed a relatively considerable positive correlation (R=+0.4~0.5) in Busan, while a weak positive correlation (R=+0.1~0.2) in Seoul. From this result, it can be inferred that the O3 formation regime in Busan was intrepreted to be nearly neutral or relatively closer to the NOx-limited regime than Seoul, while Seoul to the VOC-limited regime. The study findings imply that O3 control strategies should be applied differently in Busan and Seoul. The results here were inferred from surface NO2 and O3 observations, and the varification studies based on in-situ VOCs measurements would be needed.

        In this study, impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on PM2.5 mass and its five chemical components (NH4 +, NO3 -, SO4 2-, OC, EC) in Busan was evaluated, and compared with that of Seoul. The study period over the recent three years was sub-divided into two periods: Pre-COVID (2018~2019) and COVID (2020) periods, and the differences in observed annual and monthly variations between the two periods were explored here. The results indicated that annual mean PM2.5 mass concentrations decreased during the COVID period by 16% in Seoul and 29% in Busan, and the satellite-observed annual average of aerosol optical depth (AOD) over the Korean Peninsula also decreased by approximately more than 10% compared with that of the Pre-COVID period. All of the five chemical components decreased but no particular changes were found in their fractions occupied during the COVID period. However, over the Lock-down period (2020-March), the sulfate fraction decreased in Seoul, mostly reflecting the recent Chinese trends of aerosol characteristics, whereas the nitrate fraction considerably decreased in Busan, which was attributable to the local emission changes and their variabilities in Busan. Other meteorological characteristics such as higher frequencies of easterly winds in the Busan area during the COVID period were also discussed in comparison with those in the Seoul area.

        Baengnyeongdo, located within the Asian dust stream, is an ideal place to analyze Asian dust moving into the West Sea due to its low emission of artificial pollutants. Baengnyeongdo is being used to analyze the vertical distribution of dust from the lower atmosphere to the upper layer through remote observation. This study compared the ground concentration of dust between Baengnyeongdo and the metropolitan area, estimated the lag time of transport of Asian dust from Baengnyeongdo to the metropolitan area, and examined the homogeneity of upper winds using the rawinsonde method. The results showed that the cross correlation coefficient was higher and the lag time was shorter for each observation station when the distance from Baengnyeongdo was shorter. The upper wind at Baengnyeongdo is dominated by the west/northwest wind. It is the basis for the correlation of dust concentration between Baengnyeongdo and the metropolitan area located to the east. In the future, upper wind data and Asian dust concentration data over the West Sea and Baengnyeongdo are expected to contribute to research related to the movement and prediction of Asian dust and preparation for Asian dust in the metropolitan area.

        This study analyzed the characteristics of high PM2.5 episodes that meets the concentration criteria of Emergency Reduction Measures Plan (ERMP) in Busan during the 2015-2020, and compared with those in Seoul. As a first step, the CAPSS-2017 emission data was employed to analyze the emission differences between Busan and Seoul, and pointed out that Busan emission included the dominance of ship emissions (37.7%) among total PM2.5 city emissions, whereas fugitive PM2,5 emission was the highest in Seoul. These emission characteristics are indicating that the controlling action plan should be uniquely applied to cope with ERMP in each region. We selected extremely high PM2.5 episode days that meet the criteria of ERMP levels. In Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam region, 15, 16, and 8 days of extremely high PM2.5 cases were found, respectively, whereas Seoul showed approximately doubling of occurrences with 37 cases. However, the occurrences in summer season indicated big differences between two cities: the proportion of summer-season occurrence was 13-25% in Busan, whereas no single case have occurred in Seoul. This is suggesting the needs of comprehensive summer emission reduction plan with focusing on sulfur reduction to effectively cope with the ERMP levels in summer in the southeastern region, including Busan.

        We analyzed the recent characteristics of Particulate Matter (PM) including PM10 (PM with diameter of less than 10μm) and PM2.5 (PM with diameter of less than 2.5μm) observed in Busan metropolitan area, and compared them with those measured in Seoul metropolitan area. This analysis includes the monthly, seasonal, and annual variations and differences, in emissions and chemical compositions observed in both Busan and Seoul areas. Synoptic meteorological conditions were investigated at the time when high PM concentrations occurred in each of the two areas. The results showed clearly decreasing trends of annual mean concentrations with strong seasonal variations: lower in summer and higher in winter in both areas. In comparison with Seoul, the seasonal variation in Busan demonstrated relatively lower, but showed greater summer fluctuations than in Seoul metropolitan area. This is implying the importance of secondary generation of PM in summer via active photochemical reaction in Busan area. In high concentration days, Busan’s chemical composition of sulfate was higher than that of nitrate in summer, whereas nitrate was higher than sulfate in Seoul. The ratios of NO3 - to SO4 2-(N/S ratio) showed lower in Busan approximately by a factor of 1/2(half of N/S ratio) in Busan compared with that in Seoul. Others such as synoptic characteristics and emission differences were also discussed in this study.

        In this study, the impacts of local meteorology caused by tidal changes in the West Sea on ozone distributions in the Seoul Metropolitan Area (SMA) were analyzed using a meteorological model (WRF) and an air quality (CMAQ) model. This study was carried out during the day (1200–1800 LST) between August 3 and 9, 2016. The total area of tidal flats along with the tidal changes was calculated to be approximately 912 km2, based on data provided by the Environmental Geographic Information Service (EGIS) and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF). Modeling was carried out based on three experiments, and the land cover of the tidal flats for each experiment was designed using the coastal wetlands, water bodies (i.e., high tide), and the barren or sparsely vegetated areas (i.e., low tide). The land cover parameters of the coastal wetlands used in this study were improved in the herbaceous wetland of the WRF using updated albedo, roughness length, and soil heat capacity. The results showed that the land cover variation during high tide caused a decrease in temperature (maximum 4.5℃) and planetary boundary layer (PBL) height (maximum 1200 m), and an increase in humidity (maximum 25%) and wind speed (maximum 1.5 ms-1). These meteorological changes increased the ozone concentration (about 5.0 ppb) in the coastal areas including the tidal flats. The increase in the ozone concentration during high tide may be caused by a weak diffusion to the upper layer due to a decrease in the PBL height. The changes in the meteorological variables and ozone concentration during low tide were lesser than those occurring during high tide. This study suggests that the meteorological variations caused by tidal changes have a meaningful effect on the ozone concentration in the SMA.

        수도권매립지 자원화시설에서 발생되는 탈수케익은 매립처리하고 있으나 2018년도부터 자원순환기본법에 의한 폐기물처분부담금제 도입으로 매립최소화 및 재활용 극대화 방안 모색이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 매립되고 있는 자원화시설 탈수케익을 대상으로 물질 특성을 분석하고 안정화 및 생물학적 건조 실험을 수행하고 분석하였다. 침출수 처리장에서 일평균 100톤의 탈수케익과 음폐수 바이오가스화 시설에서 일평균 25톤 정도 탈수케익이 발생된다. 침출수 처리장 탈수케익 함수율은 82%, 음폐수 바이오가스화시설 탈수케익 함수율은 75% 정도이다. 강열감량은 침출수 처리장 탈수케익 11%, 음폐수 바이오가스화시설 탈수케익 20% 정도로 독일 비유해폐기물 매립기준인 강열감량 5% 보다 높다. 침출수처리장 탈수케익 C/N비는 5.4로 낮고 음폐수 바이오가스화 시설 C/N비는 14.8로 약간 높다. 침출수 처리장 탈수케익과 음폐수 바이오가스화 시설 탈수케익에 미생물활성유도제, 코코피트, 음식물 잔재물을 혼합 반응 후 공기 송풍없이 대기 중 자연건조로 주 1회 뒤집기를 실시하였다. 침출수 처리장 탈수케익은 5주간 함수율 변화가 거의 없고 음폐수 바이오가스화 시설 탈수케익 함수율은 약 45%에서 5주 후 약 12%로 낮아졌다. 두 종류 탈수케익의 함수율 저감을 위해서는 코코피트와 미생물활성유도제를 혼합해주는 것이 효과적이었다. 단열반응기(아이스박스)에서 공기 송풍 하에 두 종류 탈수케익의 생물학적 건조 실험을 수행하였다. 침출수 처리장 탈수케익 혼합물 더미 온도 상승은 미미하고 음폐수 바이오가스화 시설 탈수케익 혼합물 온도는 52-71℃까지 높아졌다. 침출수 처리장 탈수케익 함수율 변화는 거의 없으며 음폐수 바이오가스화 시설 탈수케익 함수율은 54%에서 43%로 약 11% 낮아졌다. 음폐수 바이오가스화 시설 탈수케익을 미생물활성유도제 20%와 혼합한 경우 혼합슬러지 감량율은 6일 후 16%이다. 침출수 처리장 탈수케익은 화학적 침전을 위한 응집제 주입으로 인해 유기물 함량이 낮아 생물학적 건조 반응에 적합하지 않고 음폐수 바이오가스화 시설 탈수케익은 유기물 함량이 높아 생물학적 건조로 수분함량을 낮추어 부숙토 등으로 활용가능성이 있음을 알 수 있다.

        Because methane-producing bacteria (MPB) and sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) compete for anaerobic utilization of organic matter, the methane generation potential (Lo) decreases logarithmically with the decrease in the COD/SO4 ratio. The Lo correction coefficient equals the Lo at a particular COD/SO4 ratio divided by the maximum Lo. An Lo correction coefficient was derived each year based on the COD/SO4 ratios of waste added to the landfill. The methane generation potential was multiplied by the Lo correction coefficient in order to correct the LFG (landfill gas) generation calculation. At the second Sudokwon landfill site (2000 ~ present), the COD/SO4 ratio decreased from 11.6 in 2000 to 4.8 in 2014. Thus, the Lo correction coefficient decreased from 0.89 in 2000 to 0.42 in 2014. The LFG 2008-2014 production correction was calculated using the model equation (Scholl canyon), and was almost the same (91 ~ 113%) as the quantity measured, including LFG that was collected, flared, or allowed to diffuse through the landfill. The methane oxidation correction factor, calculated from the concentrations of nitrogen and oxygen within the landfill gas, was between 0.92 and 1 for the first landfill site and between 0.96 and 1 for the second landfill site. Air ingress into the landfill had a negligible effect on gas generation.

        The adequacy of urban air quality monitoring networks in the largest metropolitan city, Seoul was evaluated using multivariate analysis for SO2, NO2, CO, PM10, and O3. Through cluster analysis for 5 air pollutants concentrations, existing monitoring stations are seen to be clustered mostly by geographical locations of the eight zones in Seoul. And the stations included in the same cluster are redundantly monitoring air pollutants exhibiting similar atmospheric behavior, thus it can be seen that they are being operated inefficiently. Because monitoring stations groups representing redudancy were different depending on measurement items and several pollutants are being measured at the same time in each air monitoring station, it is seemed to be not easy to integrate or transmigrate stations. But it may be proposed as follows : the redundant stations can be integrated or transmigrated based on ozone of which measures are increasing in recent years and alternatively the remaining pollutants other than the pollutant exhibiting similar atmospheric behavior with nearby station’s can be measured. So it is considered to be able to operate air quality monitoring networks effectively and economically in order to improve air quality.

        A comparison of ozone simulations in the seoul metropolitan region (SMR) using the community multiscale air quality (CMAQ) model with SAPRC99 and CB05 chemical mechanisms (i.e. EXP-SP99 and EXP-CB05) has been conducted during four seasons of 2012. The model results showed that the differences in average ozone concentrations between the EXP-SP99 and EXP-CB05 were found to be large in summer, but very small in the other seasons. This can be attributed that the SAPRC99 tends to produce more ozone than the CB05 in urban area like the SMR with low VOC/NOx ratio under high ozone conditions. Through quantitative comparison between two mechanisms for the summer, it was found that the average ozone concentrations from the EXP-SP99 were about 3 ppb higher than those from the EXP-CB05 and agreed well with the observations. Horizontal differences in ozone concentrations between SAPRC99 and CB05 showed that significant differences were found in southern part of the SMR and over the sea near the coast in summer.

        In order to improve the prediction of the regional air quality modeling in the Seoul metropolitan area, a sensitivity analysis using two PBL and microphysics (MP) options of the WRF model was performed during four seasons. The results from four sets of the simulation experiments (EXPs) showed that meteorological variables (especially wind field) were highly sensitive to the choice of PBL options (YSU or MYJ) and no significant differences were found depending on MP options (WDM6 or Morrison) regardless of specific time periods, i.e. day and night, during four seasons. Consequently, the EXPs being composed of YSU PBL option were identified to produce better results for meteorological elements (especially wind field) regardless of seasons. On the other hand, the accuracy of all simulations for summer and winter was somewhat lower than those for spring and autumn and the effect according to physics options was highly volatile by geographical characteristics of the observation site.

        The purpose of this study is to investigate the regional waste discharge and characteristics in Incheon Metropolitan City, and to evaluate the potential energy recovery for combustible wastes being discharged from Incheon province as well as currently being landfilled in the Sudokwon Landfill Site. Approximately, 2,466 ton and 0.879 kg/(capita·day) were estimated for annual average discharge of domestic wastes and daily domestic waste discharge rate per person in Incheon during the period from 2007 to 2013. The least squares methodology indicates those values to decrease to 1,120 ton and 0.347 kg/(capita·day), respectively in year 2021. The assessment of potential energy recovery for the landfilled household solid wastes indicated that total energy of 1.00 × 107 GJ and 212 billion Won of electric charges could be recovered and saved each year. For the construction wastes, recoverable annual energy and electric charges were 1.04 × 107 GJ and 269 billion Won, respectively.

        수도권매립지에서 매립폐기물의 혐기성 분해과정에서 발생되는 분해산물에는 대표적으로 매립가스와 침출수로 정리할 수 있다. 특히 매립가스는 매립지의 환경관리와 온실가스로서 그 중요성이 인식되고 있으며, 신재생에너지원으로서 주목받고 있다. 이러한 매립가스를 활용한 합리적인 사업추진을 위해서는 정확한 매립가스의 발생량을 파악하고 예측하는 것이 가장 기본적이고 필수적인 사항이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 수도권매립지 현장에서 발생되는 매립가스를 계절별 모니터링을 통해 매립가스 발생특성을 분석하였으며, 장기적인 모니터링을 통해 매립가스 주요 배출경로에 대한 양적・질적 발생특성을 분석하여 관련사업 추진 등을 위한 기초자료로 활용하고자 하였다. 2014년 매립가스 주요 배출경로별 현장 모니터링은 제1,2매립장의 강제포집량(수직가스 포집정 699개), 제2매립장의 간이소각기(상부 및 사면 106~133기), 제1,2매립장의 표면발산량(상부 및 사면 171개 지점)을 대상으로 발생량을 평가하였으며, 매립가스 발생량은 강제포집량, 가스배제공, 표면발산량을 모두 합산하여 계산하였다. 현장 모니터링 시기는 봄철(5월), 여름철(8월), 가을철(11월), 겨울철(1월) 4차례 수행하였으며, 표면발산량 산출을 위한 샘플링시기에 맞춰 강제포집량 및 가스배제공 배출량 자료를 수집하여 적용하였다. 매립가스 발생량을 분석한 결과, 제1매립장의 경우, 매립가스 포집효율이 약 68%로 발생량과 강제포집량은 지속적으로 감소추세로 평가되었으며, 표면발산량은 전년대비 약 18% 감소한 것으로 분석되었다. 제2매립장의 경우, 매립가스 발생량은 연도별로 다소 불규칙적이나, 전체적으로 감소하는 경향이었으며, 강제포집량은 전년대비 소폭 증가(포집효율은 95%)한 것으로 나타났고, 표면발산량은 약 4.0%, 가스배제공은 약 0.9% 수준으로 최종복토 관리수준인 것으로 평가되었다.
