        The objectives of this investigation are as follows: 1) To sort out places of businesses that have to do with the discharge of offensive odor 2) To find out what generates offensive odor 3) To check the current status regarding offensive odor. The investigation is held through complete enumeration of approximately two thousand businesses concerning the SihwaㆍBanwol Industrial Complex. The local residents have directly visited related businesses and performed the following investigations: 1) General status check 2) Area source 3) Point source The investigation of offensive odor is utilized by direct olfactory method in six levels. Through this method, the followings have been established as DB: Degree of offensive odor, type of odor, preventive facility status, etc. The major characteristic of this investigation is that local residents have directly visited individual businesses and checked the status of offensive odor, which opens up a possibility of mutual settlement for the reduction of offensive odor between businesses and local residents. Businesses and local residents can share a common understanding and this means a great deal. Furthermore, it is widely expected that the investigation data can be utilized as a source for presuming the origin of offensive odor in case of civil petition.

        본 연구는 백두대간 거주 지역주민 및 방문 이용객들의 백두대간에 대한 인식의 파악과 비교를 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 연구대상지인 덕유산 구간지역에 거주하고 있는 주민들과 이곳을 방문한 이용객들을 대상으로 응답자 직접기입방식의 설문조사를 실시하였다. 조사결과, 백두대간에 전반적인 인식 수준은 5점 척도상 3점 이하로 비교적 높지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 백두대간의 향후 관리 방향에 대해 이용객 응답집단이 지역주민 응답집단에 비해 보다 보전 지향적인 응답경향을 보였으며 양 집단 모두 백두대간이 다른 지역과는 다르게 특별 관리가 필요한 것으로 인식하고 있었다. 특히 효율적인 관리를 위해 일정구역을 특별 지정하여 엄중 관리해야 한다는 의견이 매우 높은 것으로 나타났다. 백두대간 관리의 적합한 부처 또는 기관으로 이용객 및 지역주민의 의견은 산림청, 환경부, 국립공원관리공단, 해당 지방자치단체의 순으로 유사한 응답경향을 보였다. 본 연구에서 제시된 결과는 백두대간 관리정책의 효율적인 수립 및 집행을 위한 기초자료로서 이용될 수 있을 것이다. 추후 연구범위 확대 및 지속적인 조사를 통해 여론조성을 위한 방안 마련이 요구된다.

        This study was intended to collect the baseline information on dietary behavior of adults to develop nutrition education program in the context of health promotion at community level. Nutrients intake of 135 housewives were assessed by 24 hour recall methods. Also food habits, nutrition knowledge and attitude were investigated by self-administered questionnaires. Our results indicated dietary intake of calcium and vitamin B2 were insufficient when they were compared to Korean recommended dietary allowances(RDA). Among five food groups, intakes of milk and dairy product was inadequate as compared to the recommended amount. When we compared the fatness indices to self-evaluated meal problems, overeating and speedy eating were significantly related to fatness indices. Fatness indices such as relative body weight(RBW) and body mass index(BMI) were significantly higher in the subjects who self-evaluated their unsound food behavior as overeating. However, there were no significant differences of food habit score and nutrition knowledge among groups classified by fatness or meal problem. Body fat ratio, frequencies of night snack and skipping meal significantly increased with age. Food habit score was positively related to health-concerned attitude and active attitude toward change. We concluded that nutrition education program for housewives should include detailed strategies to modify unsound food behaviors for healthy weight.

        This study was conducted to estimate the prevalence of ametropias such as myopia and hyperopia from the community based population study. Another purpose of this study was to determine the association between ametropia and nutrient intake. The study subjects was 492 residents over 20 years of age residing in Kuri City. Ametropia was tested based on refrector error using auto referactor. Nutrient intake was estimated from the dietary survey using 24 hour recall method. As a result of data analysis, the prevalence of myopia was 57% and that of hyperopia was 11%. Such a high rate of ametropia prevalence may suggest the increasing risk of eye health in a Korean society. Nutrient intake of myopia group was 5∼15% higher than that of normal group in most of the nutrients. Whereas intake of most nutrient except calcium, retinal, fiber for the hyperopia group was lower than that of normal group. The result may suggest that inbalance of nutrient intake has been related with ametropia.

        포항지역 주민 500명을 대상으로 꽁치과메기의 기호도 조사를 한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 과메기 용어 인지 여부에 대해서는 대부분 응답자가 알고 있었으며, 과메기 시식 여부는 92.5%가 먹어 보았으며. 먹어 보지 못한 7.5%에 대해 그 이유를 알아본 결과 먹고 싶지 않았다가 61.3%를 차지하였다. 연령별 시식 여부 차이 분석에서 나이가 많을수록 대부분 과메기를 먹어 본 것으로 나타났다(p<0.05). 과메기를 먹는 때는 술안주로가 80.9%로 가장 많았다. 남(86.5%). 여(56.8%) 모두 술안주로 먹는 경우가 가장 많았다. 간식으로 먹는 경우도 남자(6.6%)보다 여자(16.3%)가 많게 나타났다(p<0.05). 또한 연령이 많을수록 간식으로 먹는 경우가 많았다. 이러한 결과를 놓고 볼 때 사철과메기띄 개발 또는 포항 꽁치과메기가 향토식품으로 자리잡기 위해서는 술안주로서의 과메기가 아니라 조리방법이나 스낵 등의 가공방법 개발 등을 통하여 반찬이나 간식으로 먹을 수 있어야 진정한 먹거리로서 자리잡을 수 있을 것이다. 과메기를 처음 먹은 계기는 주위의 권유로 먹은 경우가 57.9%로 가장 많았다. 연령별로 살펴보면 젊을수록 과메기를 주위의 권유로 먹은 경우가 많으며, 나이가 많을수록 먹음직스러워서 과메기를 처음 먹은 계기가 된 것으로 나타났다(p<0.05). 과메기 선호도는 92.5%가 과메기에 대해 호의적인 응답을 하였다. 남자가 여자보다 과메기를 더 선호하는 것으로 나타났다(p<0.05). 연령별로는 31∼40세 연령층이 과메기를 가장 선호하는 계층으로 나타났다. 과메기를 먹을 때 곁들여 먹는 것으로 과메기, 생미역, 초고추장으로 먹는 경우가 가장 많았다. 포항 지역 주민들은 과메기를 먹을 때 대부분 생미떡과 곁들떠 먹지만 초고추장 없이 먹는 경우도 적지 않았다. 대부분3∼10마리 정도 1회 먹는 것으로 나타났으며, 20마리 이상 많이 먹는 주민도 남녀 거의 유사하게 나타났다. 따라서 여성층의 과메기 애호가도 많다는 것(5.6%)을 알 수 있다(p<0.05).

        A survey on the preferences and notion about kimchi and kimchi products was conducted from july to october, 1999 to investigate basic information for increasing the consumption of kimchi for sale. 1,241 subjects of women and men aged 10 to 60 in Kyung-nam area participated in this survey. Most of the subjects made kimchi by themselves at home but this rate of making kimchi at home became lower than past, so increment of consumption of kimchi for sale will be expected in the future. When the people buy kimchi, they considered taste first, and then hygiene, nutrition in order. When they purchase kimchi, more men (69.1%) than women(56%) considered taste, but more women(36.1%) than men(20.6%) considered hygiene first. Subjects aged 30 or older groups considered more the hygiene of kimchi than the subjects of 10~20 age groups did.(p〈0.05) And people of household income over 3 million wons considered more hygiene than people of below 1 million wons income group did. People liked manufactured kimchi the packed with whole or partly transparent material in order to observe the contents.(p〈0.05) They liked better kimchi packed with bottle(46.1%) and vinyl(39.6%) than plastic(14.3%) and this tendency was more in the subjects of women(49.8%) and over 30 age groups.(p〈0.05) They prefered 200~500g packing unit of kimchi whether the family size were big or small. Among the processed kimchi products, men liked better a rice covered up with kimchi, a pot stew with kimchi or a soup with kimchi, On the other hand, women liked better a dumplings with kimchi, a grilled food with kimchi, a pizza with kimchi.(p〈0.05) Subjects aged 10 to 20 years old liked all kinds of kimchi products, but people aged 40 or older disliked them.(p〈0.001)

        A survey on the preference of kimchi and actual amounts of kimchi intake conducted from july to october 1999 to get basic information needed for the augmentation of kimchi intake. Total 1,241 of women and men aged 10~60 in kyung-nam area participated in this survey. Except people aged 20~30, all of subjects, especially in people aged 60 and over, liked fresh prepared kimchi best, and then fermented kimchi. But all of subjects disliked over fermented kimchi.(p〈0.001) And women(4.3±0.9) liked better fresh prepared kimchi than men(4.2±1.0), men(4.0±0.9) liked better fermented kimchi than women(3.9±1.1).(p〈0.05) In subjects aged above 40, as age grow up, the preference of fermented kimchi and over fermented kimchi grew lower. All of subjects best liked chinease cabbage kimchi, and then chonggak kimchi, kakdugi, yeulmu kimchi, dongchimi in order. And women liked better nabag kimchi, yeulmu kimchi, sesame leaf kimchi, bek kimchi, cucumber kimchi, godulppegi kimchi than men and men liked better chinease cabbage kimchi, kakdugi, dongchimi than women.(p〈0.05) People aged 10~20 and above 60 disliked chonggag kimchi. The preference of kakdugi were high in people aged 10~20, but as age grow up, the preference of kakdugi became lower.(p〈0.001) The preference of nabak kimchi and dongchimi with juice were significantly high in people aged 60 and over but people aged 10~20 disliked. Also subjects aged 10~20 disliked significantly yeulmu kimchi, sesame leaf kimchi, green onion kimchi, bek kimchi, cucumber kimchi, mustard leaf kimchi and godulppegi kimchi and subjects aged 20~30 disliked significantly yeulmu kimchi, mustard leaf kimchi, godulppegi kimchi(p〈0.001). But subject aged 30 and older liked all kinds of kimchi. The amounts of kimchi intake in Kyung-nam area were same level of average amount(100g) of korean intake but the amounts of kimchi intake of men(106.4±74.0) were more than women(96.9±69.5)(p〈0.05)

        A survey was carried out to investigate consciousness level of health. A total of 499 people living in Seoul and the vicinities were asked to fill out the questionnaire during the period from the October 1997 to the January 1998. Among the 532 answers collected 33 was imcompleate data, and 499 answers were used for the statistical analysis by using SPSS program. The most worried disease was cancer(27.6%), indigestion(23.0%), liver trouble(14.8%) and high blood pressure(14.8%). The perception of Korean on health and food habit indicated that food habit was considered the most important factor for the maintenance of health, as appeared in 28.9% of the subject. Eighty-seven percent of the respondents thought that health food is necessary for the health.

        위암발증의 원인을 밝히기 위하여 설문조사를 통하여 강원도 화천군에 거주하는 주민들의 일반사항, 생활습관 및 영양섭취실태와, ELISA법으로 Helicobacter pylori 감염률을 조사하였다. 조사 대상자는 40∼69세까지의 지역주민 169명으로 남자 79명, 여자 90명이었으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 조사 대상자의 학력은 65.7%가 초등학교 이하였으며, 월수입은 60%가 50만원 이하였다. 대상자의 62.7%가 농업에 종사하였고 자녀수는 64.3%가 3∼5명이었으며 대상자의 34.5%가 흡연을 하고 있었고 68.4%가 음주를 한다고 대답하였다. 대상자의 전체 평균신장은 156.7㎝로 여자는 150.1㎝, 남자는 164.4㎝ 이었다. 평균체중은 61.1㎏으로 여자의 체중은 57㎏, 남자는 65.7㎏이었으며 BMI는 전체 평균 25.5%로 여자는 24.8%, 남자는 20.1%이었다. Helicobacter pylori의 감염률은 전체 조사대상자의 66.3%이었으며, 여자의 67.7%, 남자의 64.6%가 감염되었고 연령별로는 40대의 70%, 50대의 62.2%, 60대의 69.4%가 각각 감염된 것으로 나타났다. 일상 생활 요인에 따른 Helicobacter pylori의 감염률은 흡연의 정도가 심하고 학력이 낮으며 월수입이 낮을수록 높은 경향을 보였다. Helicobacter pylori의 감염여부에 따라 감염자와 비감염자의 영양섭취량을 조사해 본 결과 비감염자는 감염자와 비교해서 에너지, 총단백질, 동물성 단백질, 칼슘, 비타민 C 섭취량이 높은 경향을 보였으며 철분과 niacin의 섭취량은 낮은 경향을 보였다.

        한국인이 가장 많이 이용하는 식단을 알기 위하여 45가지 항목으로 된 설문서를 만들어 20세 이상의 성인들을 대상으로 조사하였다. 조사대상자는 20대부터 50대까지 고루 분포하였으며 수입은 100∼200만원의 54%로 중류 생활자가 주로 조사대상이 되었다. 잡곡은 80%이상의 사람이 이용하였고 10%미만은 섞거나 먹지 않았으며, 잡곡은 보리와 콩이 주류였고, 가정에서 밥 이외에 먹는 식사로는 비빔밥, 김밥이 많았다. 면류는 라면류와 칼국수를 주로 먹었으며 50%정도는 약간의 밥을 동시에 섭취하였고, 가정에서 빵류는 식빵을 제일 많이 이용하였다. 국은 약 81% 정도가 자주 먹거나 거의 먹었으며 제일 많이 먹는 국은 채소된장국, 미역국, 쇠고기국 순서였다. 찌개와 국은 87% 정도가 둘 중 하나만 상에 오른다고 하였으며 찌개는 된장찌개나 김치찌개를 많이 이용하였다. 반찬은 3∼4종류가 제일 많고 제일 자주 먹는 육류는 돼지고기와 쇠고기 구이였다. 생선류는 주로 구워서 제일 많이 섭취하였고, 김치는 99%가 매일 먹으며 가지수는 2가지 종류가 제일 많고, 종류로는 배추김치가 많았다. 나물류로는 콩나물과 숙주나물, 시금치, 쑥갓, 미나리나물을 많이 이용하였다. 외식에서 가장 많이 이용하는 것은 밥류에서 갈비탕 등의 탕류와 비빔밥, 면류에서 짜장면, 양식에 서는 돈까스, 빵류에서는 햄버거가 많이 이용되었다.

        A study on the traditional houses of North Korea(I) have been published in 1996. This paper is written to supplement the preceding paper. This paper aims at collecting new data of traditional house in North Korea. But still being prohibited for the researchers of South Korea to approach to the field, I had to depend on the memories and experiences of the immigrants from North Korea who are now living in Kangwon and Incheon Province. Through the questionnaire and drawings, they described vivid memory of their old houses. I was able to add new data of 70 cases, which are significant and valuable as much as those of the real field are. Those data, including the exisiting data, are enough for me to analize statstically the regional charateristics, the differnces among economical classes, and the periodical change. It opens the way for verfying the existing theory. Regional charateristics of house in North Korea can be described as followings: a. Hamkyong-do ; Concentrating spaces into one building, Double-fold type plan, Including 'cheongju-kan' space, Weak fences b. Pyongan-do ; Concentrating spaces into two buildings, 二 shape buildings , Single-fold type plan, Strong fence c.         위암발증 원인을 밝히기 위하여 농촌지역 일반 주민들의 Helicobater pylori의 감염율과 생활습관 및 영양섭취 상태와의 상관관계를 검토하기 위하여 강원도 춘천시 인근 농촌 지역 주민들을 조사하였다. 조사 대상자는 40대 이상인 지역 주민 183 명으로 남자 81명, 여자 102명에 대하여 설문조사와 식사량 조사, 혈액 생화학적 분석 및 혈청 ELISA법에 의한 Helicobater pylori의 감염 정도를 분석하였다. 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 조사 대상자의 학력은 74.3%가 국졸이하였고, 월수입은 80.3%가 100만원 이하였다. 2. 조사 대상자의 직업은 75.3%가 농업에 종사하였으며, 가족형태는 62.8%가 핵가족이었다. 3. 출산 자녀수는 75.9%가 2명에서 5명의 자녀를 출산하였고, 음주자는 46.4%이며 매일 술을 마시는 사람이 12%였다. 흡연자는 21.9%였으며, 비흡연자는 78.1%였다. 4. 평균신장은 157.4㎝였고 여자의 평균 신장은 151.9㎝, 남자의 평균 신장은 164.4㎝였고 남녀간에 유의차가 있었다(p<0.001). 5. Helicobater pylori의 감염율은 총 조사대상자중 64.5%였으며, 남자가 65.4 %, 여자가 63.7 %였다. 감염율은 흡연자, 학력 수준이 낮을수록, 월수입이 적을수록, 출산 자녀수가 많을수록, 50대의 연령에서 많은 것으로 나타났다. 6. Helicobater pylori의 감염 음성자와 양성자 간의 영양소 섭취실태를 보면 음성자가 에너지, 총지질(p<0.05), 동물성 지질(p<0.05), 철분 섭취량(p<0.001), 비타민 A의 섭취량(p<0.01), 비타민 C 섭취량(p<0.05)에 있어서 유의적으로 높은 섭취량을 나타내었다. 그러나 칼슘 섭취량은 음성 인자가 낮았다.

        Architectural researches on the traditional houses of Korea have been studied mainly based on the data collected in the field survey. From explosively incresed real mesurements and drawings in the field, plenty of data have been collected. Those have been the basic data for verifing and developing the theories on the traditional house. But after Korean war the researchers in South-Korea were not able to approach to the field in North Korea, so the new data of North Korea were not added any more. The poverty of real data have caused regional unbalance in the researches. This paper aims at collecting new data of traditional house in North Korea. But still being prohibited for the researchers of South Korea to approach to the field, I had to depend on the memories and experiences of the immigrants from North Korea who are now living in Kyon-Nam and Pusan Province. Through the questionnaire and drawings, they described vivid memory of their old houses. I was able to collect the data of 71 cases, which are significant and valuable as much as those of the real field are. The data include the address and site condition, family structure, economic condition, construction period of each house, The drawings by themselves show the building forms and plans, the plans of each building, and the included spaces. Although the quantity of those data is not enough for statistical analysis, it shows general tendency for analizing regional charateristics, the differnces among economical classes, and the periodical change. It opens the way for verfying the existing theory. Analizing the data, I have some conclusions as followings: a. Most of researchers have classified the dominant housing type of Hamkyong-Do as 'the double fold' type. In this study, all cases of Hamkyongbuk-do also show 'the double fold plan with Chongju-kan'. But in Hamkyongnam-do some cases show 'the double fold plan without Chongju-kan, or projecting the stable into the yard, which seem to be different type from 'the double fold plan with Chongju-kan' b. Existing theories classified the dominant housing type of Pyongahn-do as 'two buildings with pararell arrangement'. This classification is verified with the plentiful cases in this study. Futhermore, I found new tendency, that is, getting higher econnomic condition, they construct annex buildings between the main buildings. Finally their houses show 'scattered ㅁ shape'. The houses included in this two types has narrow and closed inner yard, which is different from the houses of the same shape in the south region of Korea. c. Existing theories classified the dominant housing type of Hwanghae-do as 'ㅁ sape with Daechong' type. I found many cases of 'ㅁ shape', but only two cases show 'Daechong'. 'The doble fold' type was also founded. Unfortunately very few cases were sent from Hwanghae-do, it is not enough for finding general tendency.

        This study was undertaken to determine factors associated with infant feeding practices among highly educated Korean mothers living in Texas, USA and local populations. In both groups, infant's birth order, maternal age, prenatal education, husband's attitude, mother's attitude and infant's taking a bottle to bed were not associated with infant's feeding patterns significantly. However, there was a significant difference in initiating time for introduction of supplementary foods between Koreans and Americans. Thus Korean mothers introduced supplementary foods earlier than American counterparts. Furthermore the infant's feeding method among all participants affected the time for introducing supplementary foods significantly. Though attitude of Korean mothers toward breastfeeding was slightly more positive than that of American mothers, the prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding in Koreans was much lower than that in Americans. It might be suggested that effective nutrition education program for Korean subjects should be developed to practice breastfeeding from positive attitude and knowledge. It might be also suggested that participation of prenatal nutrition education involving fathers should be encouraged for promotion of rates of initiation and duration of exclusive breastfeeding of mothers.

        The survey was carried out to obtain some fundmental data to improve the dietary life and to establish the nutritonal education and policy on inhabitants lived in isle area near by demilitarized zone in Korea. For this, 33 families in the area of Kyodong island located at Kanghwa-Gun, Kyungki province were randomly selected. Trained surveyors visited each house to survey the food and nutritional status in summer during 3 days in August, 1987. The results are summarized as follows; The number of foods they were taking totalled 17 categories and 134 kinds of which 104 kinds were vegetable foods. The average amount of food intake was 1465.3g per person per day, animal food occupied 9.6% only. The intake amount of fruit among vegetable foods, and fishes, shells, milk and eggs among animal foods was lower than the national average. Each proportion of carbohydrate, fat and protein to the total energy intake was 70.4%, 9.7% and 19.9%. The foods they used to take a lot were rice, potatoes, cucumbers, cabbage KIMCHIE and YULMOO KIMCHIE in order of their intake amount. The energy intake was 3064㎉ which is higher than nutritional requirements, and the energy ratio of cereals to the total energy in take is 76%. If the amount of fat intake is fixed to 20% of total energy intake, the amount of fat intake is 68g, but the actual amount of fat intake was only 33g. With an increase of total energy intake, supply of calcium and vitamin A should be increased much more.

        The purpose of this study was to conduct a forest healing program for victims affected by the large forest fires of 2017 in Gangneung and to investigate its effects on the stress and physical health promotion of the victims. From January to March 2019, three forest therapy programs were conducted on 49 residents of four villages that suffered forest fires in the National Center for Forest Therapy, Daegwallyeong. The results showed that the degree of stress of forest fire victims decreased significantly by means of these programs. Furthermore, autonomic nerve activity, stress resistance, stress index, and fatigue decreased significantly and average heart rate and heart stability also improved.
