Since McCawley (1993), D-sharing constructions, where certain determiner can be omitted from the non-initial conjunct in coordinated structures, have been in the spotlight. What is essential is that D-sharing depends on Gapping and the shared determiner must be conjunct-initial. We first show that Lin`s (2000, 2002) DP-partitioning approach is problematic, and then argue that D-sharing is elucidated by a multiple dominance approach. Inspired by Johnson`s (1996/2004) small conjunct approach to Gapping and Citko`s (2006) multiple dominance approach to D-sharing, we argue that shared structures can be linearized, if a shared constituent undergoes movement out of the coordination site, which makes the shared position unpronounced. Since the shared position is not regulated by the Linear Correspondence Axiom after movement, it causes no problem for linearization. We also show that the optionality of Gapping in wh-D-sharing results from a particular height of coordination.
