        In this paper, a numerical experiment on a tidal turbine was performed based on a water wheel design using the commercial CFD code ANSYS-CFX to contribute to the development of water wheels. The water wheel type tidal turbine was studied with different numbers of rotor blades (including ten, twelve and twenty blades types) and with different blade shapes (Straight, Curved and Zuppinger types) for comparison at several values of tip speed ratio (TSR) ranging from 0.7 to 1.2. The numerical results indicated that the 10-bladed type and the Straight-bladed type turbines absorb the highest power efficiency, up to 43 % at TSR 0.9. In addition, the 20-bladed and the Curved-bladed types showed the lowest performances in all cases of TSRs comparing with the others. Besides that, it was found that this turbine operates much effectively at low range of TSR, especially at TSRs 0.9 and 1 for all cases of blade shapes and all numbers of blades.

        This study analyzes gestation stall structures with high strength concrete. The ANSYS program described in this paper is effective not only because it shows good accuracy but also it shows the goodness of parameter studies by using APDL(ANSYS Parametric Design Language). We have performed the various parameter studies by thickness change. The results is presented by using contours and tables. The analysis results showed that it was effective to increase the height thickness(tz) rather than longitudinal thickness(tx).

        The bulk motion of star clusters can be determined after careful membership analysis using parametric or non-parametric approaches. This study aims to implement non-parametric membership analysis based on Binned Kernel Density Estimators which takes into account measurements errors (simply called BKDEe) to determine the average proper motion of each cluster. This method is applied to 178 selected star clusters with angular diameters less than 20 arcminutes. Proper motion data from UCAC4 are used for membership determination. Non-parametric analysis using BKDE-e successfully determined the average proper motion of 129 clusters, with good accuracy. Compared to COCD and NCOVOCC, there are 79 clusters with less than 3σ difference. Moreover, we are able to analyse the distribution of the member stars in vector point diagrams which is not always a normal distribution.

        The purpose of this study is to investigate the behavior characteristics of new hollow reinforced concrete (RC) bridge pier sections with triangular reinforcement details and to provide the details and reference data. Among the numerous parameters, this study concentrates on the shape of the section, the reinforcement details and the spacing of the transverse reinforcement. Additional eight column section specimens were tested under quasi-static monotonic loading. In this study, the computer program, named RCAHEST (Reinforced Concrete Analysis in Higher Evaluation System Technology), was used. A innovative confining effect model was adopted for new hollow bridge pier sections. This study documents the testing of new hollow RC bridge pier sections with triangular reinforcement details and presents conclusions based on the experimental and analytical findings.

        본 연구에서는 프리스트레스트 콘크리트 보의 처짐 예측을 위해 재료비선형이 고려된 콘크리트 및 철근, 강연선의 거동을 고려할 수 있는 구성모델을 조합하여 적층 쉘 요소를 사용한 유한요소해석 모델에 적용하였다. 이를 기존 연구자들의 실험결과와 비교함으로써 모델의 타당성을 검증하였고, 스팬-깊이비, 편심 그리고 프리스트레싱 크기에 대한 처짐을 해석하고 이를 수계산 결과와 비교하였다. 그 결과, 스팬-깊이비가 커질수록, 편심이 작아질수록, 프리스트레싱 크기가 작아질수록 처짐이 증가하는 것을 확인하였다. 또한, 편심이 매우 작을 경우와 프리스트레싱 크기가 매우 작을 경우에는 수계산이 처짐을 과대평가한다는 것을 확인하였다.

        본 연구에서는 프리스트레스트 콘크리트 일방향 슬래브의 사용성 평가를 위한 처짐을 분석하기 위하여 유한요소법에 기반한 해석적 연구를 수행하였다. 유한요소 상용 프로그램을 이용한 해석결과와 실험결과를 비교하여 모델링의 타당성을 검증하였으며, 비교적 유사한 결과를 나타내었다. 또한, 콘크리트 압축강도, 편심 거리, 활하중, 그리고 긴장재의 배치형태에 따른 처짐을 분석하여 수계산 결과와 비교하였고, 회귀분석을 통해 변수들과 처짐 사이의 상관관계를 확인하였다. 그 결과, 콘크리트 압축강도가 클수록, 편심 거리가 클수록, 활하중이 작을수록 처짐이 감소하는 것을 확인하였으며, 직선형태의 처짐이 가장 작고 절곡형태의 처짐이 가장 큰 것을 확인하였다. 또한 회귀분석을 통해 콘크리트 압축강도와 편심 거리가 솟음값에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다.

        The hydraulic equipments has a high utilization in the many works such as the excavation, planation and crane works in the construction sites. They are an essential equipments in the construction site and the loading & unloading works of the large size objects. In the many parts which are composed of the hydraulic equipments, the main control valve(MCV) is the core of the equipments. The hydraulic energy from the pump controls the direction and the rate of flow and supply the pressure energy to the some actuators by MCV. In spite of the domestically producing of the common control valves, the MCV which used to the domestic equipments is imported the whole quantity. In this study, it is to reverse-engineer the MCV as the first step in the development of the MCV. To analyze the notch of the spool and the flow path and to apply the formula technique, we try to realize the optimal modeling of the MCV.

        Compare to straight girders, horizontally curved girder shows complicate behaviors because the bending moments and torsional moments are always acting simultaneously. Because of non-uniform torsion, one edge of compression flange is yielded faster than the other edge due to combined vertical and lateral moments. Hence, the strength of cross section need to be investigated with the effect of initial curvature. The design specifications, however, does not consider the curvature effect. In this study, as a basic research, the parametric studies are performed to understand the flange local buckling behaviors of horizontally curved girders.

        The docking analysis of a global ship structure is requested to evaluate its structural safety against the reaction forces at supports during docking works inside a dry dock. That problem becomes more important recently as the size of ships is getting larger and larger. The docking supports are appropriately arranged in a dock to avoid their excessive reaction forces which primarily cause the structural damages in docking a ship and, up to now, the structural safety has been assessed against the support arrangement by the finite element analysis (FEA) of a global ship structure. However, it is complicated to establish the finite element model of the ship in the current structural design environment of a shipyard and it takes over a month to finish the work. This paper investigates a simple and fast approach to carry out a ship docking analysis by a simplified grillage model and to assign the docking supports position on the model. The grillage analysis was considered from the motivation that only the reaction forces at supports are sufficient to assess their arrangement. Since the simplified grillage model of the ship cannot guarantee its accuracy quantitatively, modeling strategies are proposed to improve the accuracy. In this paper, comparisons between the proposed approach and three-dimensional FEA for typical types of ships show that the results from the present grillage model have reasonably good agreement with the FEA model. Finally, an integrated program developed for docking supports planning and its evaluation by the proposed approach is briefly described.

        Control allocation is an important part of a system. It implements the function that map the desired command forces from the controller into the commands of the different actuators. In this paper, the authors present an approach for solving constrained control allocation problem in vessel system by using multi-parametric quadratic programming (mp-QP) algorithm. The goal of mp-QP algorithm applied in this study is to compute a solution to minimize a quadratic performance index subject to linear equality and inequality constraints. The solution can be pre-computed off-line in the explicit form of a piecewise linear (PWL) function of the generalized forces and constrains. The efficiency of mp-QP approach is evaluated through a dynamic positioning simulation for a vessel by using four tugboats with constraints about limited pushing forces and found to work well.

        Methanol as a carbon source in chemical vapor deposition (CVD) graphene has an advantage over methane and hydrogen in that we can avoid optimizing an etching reagent condition. Since methanol itself can easily decompose into hydrocarbon and water (an etching reagent) at high temperatures [1], the pressure and the temperature of methanol are the only parameters we have to handle. In this study, synthetic conditions for highly crystalline and large area graphene have been optimized by adjusting pressure and temperature; the effect of each parameter was analyzed systematically by Raman, scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, atomic force microscope, four-point-probe measurement, and UV-Vis. Defect density of graphene, represented by D/G ratio in Raman, decreased with increasing temperature and decreasing pressure; it negatively affected electrical conductivity. From our process and various analyses, methanol CVD growth for graphene has been found to be a safe, cheap, easy, and simple method to produce high quality, large area, and continuous graphene films.

        기둥은 건물에서 하중을 지지하는 중요한 구성요소이므로 기둥의 손상 또는 파괴는 건물의 연쇄붕괴의 원인이 된다. 특 히 폭발하중에 의한 기둥의 거동평가는 연쇄붕괴 방지에 있어 중요한 요소이다. 본 논문에서는 축하중을 받고 있는 기둥이 폭발하중을 받을 때의 거동과 폭발 저항성능을 평가하였다. 이를 위해 동일단면적과 비슷한 철근비를 가지는 기둥에서 주 철근의 개수를 달리하여 각 변수에 따른 폭발하중에 대한 폭발 저항성능을 평가하였다. 또한, 동일한 성능을 지니는 기둥 에서 단면비를 달리하여 기둥의 폭발 저항성능을 비교하였다. 해석결과, 폭발 직후 충격량에 대한 수직 변형률은 철근의 개수 및 단면비에 영향을 받지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 수평변형의 경우 폭발압력을 받는 면의 철근 개수가 증가함 에 따라 기둥의 저항성능이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 기둥 단면의 단면 2차모멘트가 클수록 폭발하중에 대한 저항 성능 및 복원력이 더 큰 것을 확인하였다.

        Recently, there is to increase interest in seismic performance of piers. Hollow section is applied to increasing the seismic performance of piers. However, hollow RC pier becomes the biaixial confining state because hollow part is not confined. The pier is developed brittle failure from inner face in hollow part. A tube is inserted in hollow part to become the weakness. This is ICH RC(Internally Confined Hollow RC) pier. This pier is enhanced stiffness, strength, and ductility by core concrete has triaxial confining stress. In this paper is researched about parameters effect the seismic performance. Parameters are hollow ratio, transverse reinforcement, longitudinal reinforcement, and concrete strength.

        이 연구는 중공 프리스트레스트 콘크리트 교각의 P-M 상관도에 대한 매개변수 분석을 수행한 결과를 제시하고 있다. 다수의 매개변수 중에 콘크리트 압축강도, PS 강재량, 유효프리스트레스, D_s/D_o, 그리고 D_i/D_o를 선택하여 P-M 상관도에 미치는 영향을 중점적으로 다루었다. 준정적 실험을 통해서 중공 프리스트레스트 콘크리트 교각 실험체의 강도와 연성도를 평가하였다. 실험 및 해석결과와 각 코드를 기준으로 비교한 P-M상관도의 결과는 서로 다른 차이를 나타내었으며 AASHTO-LRFD는 근접한 값을 보여주었다. 무차 원화한 P-M 상관도를 중공 프리스트레스트 콘크리트 교각의 저항능력을 예측하기 위하여 제시하였다.

        In this study, an analytical realization of end-milling system was introduced using recursive parametric modeling analysis. Also, the numerical mode analysis of end-milling system with different conditions was performed systematically. In this regard, a recursive least square modelling algorithm and the natural mode for real part and imaginary one was discussed. This recursive approach (RLSM) can be adopted for on-line end-milling identification. After experimental practice of the end-milling, the end-milling force was obtained and it was used for the calculation of FRF (Frequency response function) and mode analysis. Also the FRF was analysed for the prediction of a end-milling system using recursive algorithm.

        Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been synthesized by ferrocene-catalyzed pyrolysis of toluene. The influences of the experimental conditions on the morphology and microstructure of the product have been analyzed. To find the proper temperature for synthesis of CNTs, the experiment was performed in a temperature range from 800 to 1100℃. From content variation of ferrocene and thiophene as the catalyst, morphological change of carbon nanotubes has been observed. Also, the influence of the gas ratio of hydrogen and argon on the nanotube samples was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy.

        Using the Malmquist productivity index, this paper compares the productivity of Korean manufacturing industries from 1999 to 2006. The malmquist productivity index has more advantages than previous methods such as solow model, endogenous growth theory. The malmquist productivity index can be decomposed productivity into two parts. The first part is an index of the technical efficiency change. This index has high value when the elements of production is used more efficiently. The second part is an index of technical change. This index has high value if the advent of new technology and process innovation occur.
