이 글의 취지는 잘 알려지지 않은 17세기 영국 여성의 자전적 신앙 산문을 소개하고 연구 대상으로 조명하는 데 있다. 『아그네스 보몬트의 박해 서사』로 알려진 이 자전적 신앙 산문은 22세 중하층 여성의 1인칭 저술이고 현재 필사본으로 남아있다. 아그네스 보몬트의 생애, 『박해』의 필사본 특성, 전개 양상, 집필 동기에 대해 고찰하면서 이 산문이 갖는 컨텍스트와 텍스트적 특이점들을 살펴본다. 이 글은 두 가지의 목표를 가지고 있다. 하나는 자세한 비평적 소개를 통해 『박해』를 학술적 연구 범주로 끌어오고 앞으로 다양한 논의의 장을 만드는 것이다. 또 하나의 목표는 아그네스 보몬트의 서술 전략을 조망하면서 『박해』를 종교와 문학이 매개되는 방식을 탐색하는 것이다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of using films on students’ reading comprehension and attitude toward their English study in the context of a college English class. Specifically, it attempted to examine how a film-based English reading class affected students’ reading comprehension and attitudes toward their study, and how they recognized the film-based English reading class. Thirty-one college students were asked to take pre- and post-tests in English reading, and to respond pre- and post-questionnaires regarding their affective domain, and a focus group of four students was voluntarily interviewed with one of two researchers. Quantitatively, a paired t-test was employed to compare the statistical means from those two samples, and qualitatively, the framework developed by Miles and Huberman (1994) was adopted to describe the major phases of data analysis. The results of data analysis indicated that 1) Using films in the college English reading was helpful for students to comprehend the given text, and to understand other cultures; 2) Also this film-based reading class optimally contributed to the affective domain such as students’ attitudes, interests, and confidence levels. Based on these results, pedagogical implications for effective English reading classes were suggested.

본 논문은 이미 많은 학자들이 이런저런 방법으로 『갈보리의 언덕』을 읽었지만 주요 평론가들의 평가를 평가하여 예이츠의 『갈보리의 언덕』에 대한 평가를 바로잡는 것이 목적이다. 사실 대부분의 읽기가 불충한 것처럼 보이는데, 아마 이 작품의 중요성을 과소평가해서 그런 것 같다. 최고의 예이츠 학자인 헨렌 벤들러의 영향도 있었던 것 같은데, 그녀는 이 작품에 대한 결론을 “별 알맹이 없는(negligible)” 작품이라고 내린다. 본 논문은 이 작품을 피상적이거나 빠르게 읽어 내려가기 보다는 가능한 한 면밀하게 읽고 음미하려고 한다. 본 논문은 이 극이 예이츠의 최고의 중기작 품으로 평가한다. 학자들은 이 작품에 대한 소개든, 주제 분석이든 간에 작품 자체를 충분히 이해하고 음미하려고 한 노력이 부족했었다. 벤들러의 짧은 논의는 한마디로 “알맹이 없는”이라 요약되는데 이 평가가 본 논의를 촉발했다. 그녀의 경우 아마 학위 논문의 주제와 연관해서 8장 “죽음, 정죄, 그리고 부활”에서 『갈보리의 언덕』을 짧게 논한다(이 장이 다루는 다른 극은 『부활』이다). 아마 주제에 한정해서 논하다보니까 이 극의 가치를 간과한 것이지 모른다.

본 연구는 아일랜드의 부활절봉기를 소재로 한 예이츠의 시 작품들을 신역사주의 비평을 적용하여 읽기를 목표로 한다. 연구자는 부활절 시편에 대한 기존 연구를 토대로 하여 당시 아일랜드의 정치 현실에 대한 시인의 복합적, 다층적인 입장 에 대한 분석을 모색한다. 예이츠의 부활절봉기 시편에 대한 기존의 선행연구는 대체적으로 문화 민족주의 운동, 사회적 이슈에 대한 계층 간의 갈등, 영국의 지배로부터 독립을 꾀하는 탈식민주의 등 세 가지 방향으로 전개되었다고 볼 수 있다. 이러한 세 가지 경향을 적극 수용하면서도 이들 연구들에서 당시 특정한 상황에 대한 구체적인 논의가 다소 부족한 점을 맥락 연구를 통해 보충하고자 한다. 이러한 보충을 위해 신 역사주의 이론을 적극적으로 참조하여, 당대의 문화 상황을 통해 예이츠의 문화민족주의의 방향성을 이해하고 시의 감상을 확장하고자 한다. 그리고 당대의 역사적 문화적 상황이 예이츠의 부활절 시들과 연관되고 수용되는 방식을 상세히 연구하고자 한다.

Gogeum Seongnim (Gujin Shilin) written by Lee Euibong (Li Yifeng), a scholar of the Joseon Dynasty, is representative of Chinese dictionary in the Joseon period. Its collected Chinese characters have large vocabulary, a long time span, and a wide range of contents, which are extremely valuable for the study of Chinese character communication outside China. However, the book is vast in traditional Chinese characters. And the creation of this book was after twists and turns. There are still many errors in the Chinese characters included in the book. Therefore, it is necessary to correct the wrong Chinese characters. In addition, the corruption of ancient Korean writing is not uncommon. This means that it is necessary to collate Chinese dictionaries and correct the wrong Chinese characters at that time, which is the basis of foreign literature research. This article selects more than ten representative mistakes of Gogeum Seongnim and examines them, and on this basis, analyzes the reasons for the mistakes as errors caused by negligence in transmission and copying, negligence in sentence segmentation, errors in pronounce, and errors in form. From this, we can also glimpse the types and reasons of errors in the Chinese dictionaries in the Joseon period, which we wish to be helpful to the collation of and research on the Chinese dictionaries in the Joseon period.

The extension of MFN clauses to dispute settlement under BITs is one of the most controversial areas in investment treaty law. Currently, the area is divided into two streams of case law. The award in Tze Yap Shum v Peru and other recent Chinese investment arbitral awards did not side the Maffezini stream. The question on which stream works the best for China is complicated and essentially a balancing exercise. This article examines the question from a Chinese perspective and adopts the analytical framework of the New Haven School. It identifies the issue of comparability of more preferential treatment as the key criterion in determining the question. It reviews the previous case law and assesses the economic, social and cultural factors shaping the Chinese investment policy. From there, the article seeks to discover if the current law helps fulfil China’s policy goals and proposes recommendations accordingly.

The present study examines the effects of schema activation and reading strategy use on L2 learners’ reading comprehension, strategy use, motivation, and learner beliefs. The participants consisted of 89 Korean college students, and they were assigned to one of two reading activity groups―schema building or reading strategy instruction―or to a control group. The study employed a background questionnaire, pre-, post-, and delayed English reading comprehension tests, and also pre- and post-reading strategy use, reading motivation, and general learner belief questionnaires. The results indicate that both the schema building and reading strategy task groups showed significant improvements in terms of immediate learning effects, but the reading strategy group showed an added degree of improvement over the schema building and control groups in terms of long-term reading comprehension. Additionally, the two task groups reported positive responses to their own use of reading strategies, motivation, and positive beliefs. Based on the findings, this study suggests pedagogical implications for L2 reading classrooms.

Chinese tones has always been one of the key and difficult points in teaching Chinese to speakers of other language, therefore, the method of Chinese tones has always been the hot topic and focus in the field of teaching Chinese to speakers of other language too. Scholars have put forward advice and suggestions based on their own teaching practice, some of these methods are helpful in teaching Chinese tones. However, most of them are still relatively abstract and difficult for non-native Chinese learners (hereinafter referred to as “learners”) to learn tones, it is difficult to reach a consensus in the end. In recent years, more and more attentions have been paid to how to enhance learners' perception of tones. So, this paper will also start with strengthening the learners' perception about tones, elaborate that there is a corresponding relationship between the 5 degrees of the Method of Five Degrees Notation and the Numbered Musical Notation 1 (do), 2(re), 3 (mi), 4 (fa), 5 (sol), and put forward a teaching method, which combines the numbered musical notation as the tones' value of the four Chinese tones to sing and read(it is called "The Method of Singing and Reading in Combining the Numbers Musical Notation" in this paper). At the same time, combined with the author's teaching practice，this paper argues that the Method of Singing and Reading in Combining the Numbers Musical Notationand can make learners percept Chinese tones more directly, understand them more easily, and make their learning interest stronger, thus to get a good teaching result.

본 논문은 막스 베버의 『프로테스탄트 윤리와 자본주의 정신』을 통한 모신 하미드의 『떠오르는 아시아에서 더럽게 부자 되는 법』의 다시 읽기로서, 두 작 품에서에서 발견되는 ‘성경 읽기’의 내러티브 구조를 통해 『떠오르는 아시아에 서 더럽게 부자 되는 법』이 현대 자본주의의 문제를 근대자본주의 윤리의 상실 의 결과로 재현하고 있음을 분석한다. 이를 위해 본 논문은 이 두 작품이 신-신 자, 작가-독자의 관계 속에서 성경 읽기의 종교적 내러티브 구조를 이루고 있음 을 논의하고, 자본주의의 종교적 속성이 개인의 경제관에 실질적 영향을 미치는 이데올로기로서 작용함을 살펴본다. 또한 이러한 맥락 속에서 베버의 종교적 윤 리로서의 근대자본주의 정신이 하미드의 소설 배경인 현대자본주의 시대에 이 르러 변질된 윤리의 상실로 재현되고 있음을 살펴봄으로써, 하미드의 『떠오르 는 아시아에서 더럽게 부자 되는 법』이 재현하는 현대자본주의의 문제가 종교 적, 윤리적 차원의 분석 대상이 될 수 있음을 살펴본다.

이 논문은 대학생 독서 프로그램을 개발하기 위한 목적으로 작성한 것이다. 교양 교과목에서 슬로리딩 즉 천천히 읽기 방법으로 한 학기에 한 권을 완독한다는 목표를 모두가 달성하도록 하였다. 그로써 대학생 학습자의 독서에 대한 관심을 불러일으키고, 완료 형태의 독서 경험을 바탕으로 다른 독서로 옮겨 가는 바람직한 방향성을 제시하고자 하였다. 책을 천천히 자세히 읽는 활동과 동시에 짝과의 토론을 통해 이해 하지 못한 어려운 부분을 해결함으로써 미진함이 남지 않도록 주의했다. 이 독서교육은 책을 읽고 감상문 을 쓰면 특정 점수를 얻거나 마일리지를 쌓는 방식으로 결과에 초점을 둔 방식이 아닌 읽는 과정에 중점을 두고 운영하는 과정중심 독서교육 프로그램이기에 내적 동기를 유발할 수 있다는 차별점 및 특수성이 있다. 이 경험을 활용하여 대학생 독자 스스로가 자신의 독서 습관을 점검하고 이후의 독서 계획을 세울 수 있다는 것이 이점이다.

본 연구는 반응성애착장애 유아의 언어 및 놀이발달의 변화과정을 그림책 읽어주기와 놀이참여를 통한 상담자의 개입으로 2018년 6월15일부터 2019년 1월 30일까지 주 2회 총 56회기로 약 7개월여 동안 단일대상으로 탐색연구 하였다. 상담자는 유아의 반응에 일관적이며 수용적인 태도로 자극을 촉진하고, 민감한 반응으로 상호작용하였다. 이에 따른 반응성애착장애 유아의 언어 및 놀이발달 변화과정은 다음과 같이 6단계로 나타났다. 첫째, 자극-불안정 접촉의 혼란스러 운 단계. 둘째, 자극-접촉의 안정의 단계. 셋째, 자극-촉진 수용의 단계. 넷째, 자극-습득 내면화 단계. 다섯째, 자극-표현 변화의 단계. 여섯째, 자극-확장 적 응의 단계로 변화하면서 유아는 일상생활에 적응하며 자신의 세계를 구축하였 다. 이러한 변화의 과정은 반응성애착장애 유아의 부모나 다양한 치료 현장의 상담사, 유아교육현장 교사들에게 개입을 위한 길잡이가 되어줄 것이다.

This study was designed to explore effective techniques to be used in IERW (Integrated English Reading and Writing) classes for college students. The study last for 15 weeks and included 457 students and 11 instructors at E University. The participants were freshmen who were taking a compulsory English reading and writing class, and the instructors were seven native English speakers and four Koreans. To ensure the effectiveness of IERW classes, it is important to identify what teaching activities are being used and which activities students prefer. To address these issues, the instructors were interviewed regarding their teaching activities in IERW classes. From the interview results, a survey was made that asked students which class activities they consider useful. The results show that most students responded positively to the activities that the instructors were using, with a preference of around 70 percent. Notably, pair or group activities were rated as less favorable than other activities, with a score of under 50 percent. Some implications of the findings and suggestions for teaching activities for IERW classes are provided.

This study examined the effects of an intervention using audiobooks for the development of reading fluency, in terms of reading speed, reading comprehension, and motivation to read among Kazakhstani English as a foreign language (EFL) ninth-grade learners in the K–11 system. Silent reading with audiobooks (experimental group) and silent reading only (control group) were compared with a mixed-method study design, a reading motivation questionnaire, and a semi-structured interview. Quantitative data analysis was conducted using analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). The experimental group was found to significantly outperform the control group in reading speed while preserving substantial comprehension of the texts. The results further revealed that, while both groups’ motivation level increased, no statistically significant difference was found between the experimental and control groups, suggesting that the use of audiobooks was not superior to silent reading for motivation enhancement. Nevertheless, a qualitative analysis of data obtained from the interviews revealed that the use of audiobooks had an overall positive effect on students’ attitudes toward the use of audiobooks and reading comprehension. The study concludes with a discussion of limitations and suggestions for future research.

In the era of the 4th industrial revolution, creativity plays a pivotal role in the competitiveness of a country. The importance of creativity education therefore cannot be overemphasized. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of discussion-based English reading and writing activities on Korean high school students' creativity, English writing, and self-assessed creative thinking. The participants were 45 high school students in Seoul, Korea. They were divided into two groups: the discussion-based English reading and writing group (n=24) and the traditional English instruction group (n=21). The experiment was administered during two semesters of the 2017 academic year. The major findings are as follows: First, the experimental group showed significant improvement on the creativity test, especially in the areas of fluency, flexibility, and original thinking. Second, the experimental group outperformed the control group on the writing test. Third, the experimental group showed positive changes in their self-assessed flexible thinking, convergent thinking, and intrinsic motivation. All of these indicate the beneficial effects of the discussion-based English reading and writing activities. Based on the results, some pedagogical suggestions were made for the effective integration of creativity education into the teaching of English as a foreign language.

이 연구의 목적은 학교 현장에서 한문 독해 수업의 문제점을 해결하는 단초를 마련하고자 하는 것이다. 중학교 1학년은 정규 교육과정에서 한문을 처음 배우는 학년이다. 한자의 음과 뜻을 학습하 기에도 역부족인 학생들이 한문 독해에서 겪는 문제를 분석하여 그 해결책을 제시하고자 하였다. 먼저, 2015 개정 중학교 한문 교과서에서 한문 독해와 관련이 있는 단문, 산문 단원의 제재를 분석하였다. 그리고 교과서에 제시된 문장 풀이에 도움이 되는 한자 정보를 입력하여 자료를 작성하였다. 이렇게 작성된 수업 제재 중에서 허사와 관련된 제재를 선별하여 학습지를 제작하였고 수업에 적용 하였다. 허사의 풀이가 한문 독해 학습에 중요한 요소일 것이라고 가정하였기 때문이다. 기존의 교과서를 활용한 수업에 허사 학습지를 통하여 허사의 개념을 파악하는 수업을 첨가하였다. 형성평 가나 설문, 면담 등을 통하여 허사 학습이 단기간에 학생들의 한문 독해 능력을 향상할 수는 없지만, 한문 수업에 대한 학생들의 인식 변화에는 어느 정도 기여할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 다만, 한문 문법과 같은 한문 독해의 기초 지식 수업은 암기 위주의 수업이 되지 않도록 하여야 할 것이다.

예이츠의 희곡인 오이디푸스는 시대 정신을 함의하고 있다. 예이츠 당 대의 사회적 이상향과 예술적 지향은 오이디푸스가 직면했던 터부를 극복하기 위해 부조리에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 예이츠와 소포클레스가 살았던 사회는 공통적으로 윤리적 터부와 사회적 부조리가 대비된다. 두 사회가 지닌 시대적 차이에도 불구하고 예이츠는 오이디푸스를 통해 윤리적 터부를 극복하고 예술 철학적 부조리에 초점을 두고 있다. 예술적 부조리인 잊힌 영웅들의 이름부르기는 성과 폭력의 터부를 초월한 실존적 예술철학을 함의하고 있다. 이러한 예이츠의 예술적 영혼과의 만남은 사람들을 현실의 감각적 터부를 넘어 미래 이상향으로 향하도록 각성하게 하는 영혼의 전향술이라는 점에서 가치가 있다.

Much attention has been devoted to Extensive Reading (ER) to better understand its pedagogical effects on language learners. In this study, we focus on the teaching principles of ER and call for a re-visitation of the Freedom principle (“Learners choose what they want to read”) that has been frequently used by practitioners and researchers of ER. Based on the focus group data collected from enthusiastic readers who participated in ER as a classroom activity and read beyond the designated class goal, we examined how these students chose what they wanted to read in an English-for-Academic-Purposes (EAP) context. The findings suggest that the Freedom principle, while allowing student autonomy, incurs complications in the implementation of ER. Students may experience frustration if given a limited choice of books, providing support for the Freedom principle. However, as students freely choose their books, the activities they engage in may become incompatible with other ER principles. Drawing on the focus group data, we will discuss the details of such complexities and conclude with pedagogical implications.

본 연구는 중국 신문읽기 수업을 PBL에 적용한 사례로 기존의 언어교육 중심에서 한 단계 더 나아가 중국 지역학과 통상학에서 필요로 하는 기초적인 지식과 중국 사회에 대한 전반적인 이해를 돕고자 하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 중국어 향상을 위한 어학적 측면의 이해와 중국 시장 진출 방안 모색이라는 실제 직무와 관련된 문제에 대한 해결방안을 제시하고, 정보수집능력, 지식습득능력, 자기주도적 학습 능 력과 협동 학습 능력을 향상시키는 것을 교육 목표로 하고 있다. 문제제기, 수업설계, 평가의 과정을 통하여 학습자로 하여금 중국어에 대한 흥미를 유발하여 학습동기를 향상시키고, 중국신문이라는 기본 텍스트를 바탕으로 중국의 정치, 경제, 사회, 문화 등의 전반적인 부분을 이해하는데 PBL수업의 긍정적인 효과를 살펴볼 수 있을 것이다.
