        The study aim was to develop and test the effects of integrated simulation pertaining to patients with schizophrenia using a hypertensive crisis module for nursing students. Methods: This pilot study with seven undergraduate nursing students used a single group, pre-post test design. Integrated simulation pertaining to patients with schizophrenia using a hypertensive crisis module was developed based on the ADDIE model (i.e., Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation), expert meetings with subject professors, a literature review, a preliminary survey, and focus group interviews. Data were collected and measured for general characteristics of the study participants, critical thinking disposition, problem-solving, clinical judgment, self-efficacy, simulation design, and simulation effectiveness. Qualitative contents were analyzed through focus group interviews. Results: No statistically significant differences were found in class design, critical thinking disposition, problem-solving, clinical judgment, and self-efficacy after applying the integrated simulation module. Based on the data obtained from the focus group interviews of study participants, the following four categories were established: “Integrating knowledge and applying it to practice,” “Nursing in unexpected situations,” “Challenged to be an expert,” and “Ensuring receptive and psychological safety in simulation practice.” Conclusion: An integrated simulation module was developed to integrate the nursing problems associated with individual subjects beyond the scope of one subject, and the effect was verified by applying it

        This study aimed to investigate the impact of implementing team-based learning (TBL) in postpartum nursing simulation practical education for nursing college students. Methods: The study design was a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design. 128 nursing students divided into two groups: 61 in the experiment group and 67 in the control group. During the winter break in January 2023, students participating in simulation practicals were assigned to the control group, while students participating in simulation practicals during the regular semester (April 2023) were assigned to the experimental group, to prevent crossontamination between the groups due to experimental treatment. Both groups completed selfdministered questionnaires to assess self-directed learning abilities, collaborative self-efficacy, academic achievement, and learning satisfaction. Results: The experimental group showed significantly better compared to the control group, the experimental group showed higher levels of academic achievement and learning satisfaction. Conclusion: It was evident that TBL applied to postpartum nursing simulation practical education is a pedagogical teaching strategy that enhances academic achievement and learning satisfaction. It is necessary to develop and apply team-based simulation practical education not only for challenging obstetric cases but also for labor and delivery nursing, antepartum nursing, and other related areas in clinical practice.

        The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of simulation-based Korea advanced life support training on new nurses' knowledge, clinical performance ability, performer confidence, and learning satisfaction. Methods: This is a non-equivalent controlled pre-post quasi-experimental study. A simulation-based CPR training program was applied to 37 new nurses. Results: The experimental group scored lower on emergency management knowledge (83.65±7.61) than the control group (84.55±9.22), which was not significant (t=-4.46, p=.657). However, the clinical performance ability score was significantly higher in the experimental group (109.59±9.98) than in the control group (100.24±11.87) (t=3.581, p <.001). Performer confidence was significantly higher in the experimental group (23.43±3.29) than in the control group (19.90±3.85) (t=3.69, p〈.001). In addition, the learning satisfaction score of the experimental group (96.16±5.64) was significantly higher than the control group (88.42±11.13) (t=3.72, p< .001). Conclusion: This study confirmed that simulation training is an efficient way to improve new nurses' clinical performance ability, and performer confidence. Therefore, applying simulation training in scenarios can improve new nurses' work competence and contribute to improving the quality of patient care.

        The purpose of this study was to identify the factors related to the problem-solving ability of nursing students who experienced simulation training. Methods: A descriptive survey study was performed using a structured questionnaires consisting of a learning flow state scale, nursing student’s anxiety and self-confidence with clinical decision making scale, simulation design scale, and problem-solving ability scale. Data were collected from 154 nursing students in five nursing schools located in D city and G province. Data were analyzed by frequencies, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression with IBM SPSS Statistics 19.0. Results: The significant factors associated to the problem-solving ability of nursing students who experienced simulation training were simulation design characteristics (β=.34, p<.001), learning flow (β=.25, p=.001), and self-confidence with clinical decision making (β=.23, p=.001). These factors explained 46.5% of problem-solving ability. Conclusion: To improve the problem-solving ability of nursing students, the simulation module should be designed with high fidelity.

        The purpose of this study was to develop a nursing education program using Web-based simulation for the care of patients with intracranial pressure. An additional aim was to verify the effectiveness of nursing knowledge, problem-solving competency, a critical thinking disposition, and the expectation of learning transfer. Methods: This was an experimental study using repeated measures with a nonequivalent control group. The participants were senior nursing students, randomly assigned to experimental (n=30) and control (n=30) groups. The experimental group participated in a nursing education program that included Web-based lectures, pre-briefing, Web-based simulation, and debriefing, whereas the control group’s program included only Web-based lectures. Results: A significant difference was found between the experimental and control groups in problem-solving competency (F=5.84, p=.005), critical thinking disposition (F=4.25, p=.021), and the expectation of learning transfer (t=2.30, p<.025). Also, a significant interaction between time and group was found in problem-solving competency and critical thinking disposition. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the education program using Web-based simulation positively affected nursing students’ problem-solving competency, critical thinking disposition, and the expectation of learning transfer. Therefore, this program can be considered a valuable aid in educating nursing students.

        This study selected two labor-intensive processes in harsh environments among domestic food production processes. It analyzed their improvement effectiveness using 3-dimensional (3D) simulation. The selected processes were the “frozen storage source transfer and dismantling process” (Case 1) and the “heavily loaded box transfer process” (Case 2). The layout, process sequence, man-hours, and output of each process were measured during a visit to a real food manufacturing factory. Based on the data measured, the 3D simulation model was visually analyzed to evaluate the operational processes. The number of workers, work rate, and throughput were also used as comparison and verification indicators before and after the improvement. The throughput of Case 1 and Case 2 increased by 44.8% and 69.7%, respectively, compared to the previous one, while the utilization rate showed high values despite the decrease, confirming that the actual selected process alone is a high-fatigue and high-risk process for workers. As a result of this study, it was determined that 3D simulation can provide a visual comparison to assess whether the actual process improvement has been accurately designed and implemented. Additionally, it was confirmed that preliminary verification of the process improvement is achievable.

        The nuclear fuel that melted during the Fukushima nuclear accident in 2011 is still being cooled by water. In this process, contaminated water containing radioactive substances such as cesium and strontium is generated. The total amount of radioactive pollutants released by the natural environment due to the nuclear accident in Fukushima in 2011 is estimated to be 900 PBq, of which 10 to 37 PBq for cesium. Radioactive cesium (137Cs) is a potassium analog that exists in the water in the form of cations with similar daytime behavior and a small hydration radius and is recognized as a radioactive nuclide that has the greatest impact on the environment due to its long half-life (about 30 years), high solubility and diffusion coefficient, and gamma-ray emission. In this study, alginate beads were designed using Prussian blue, known as a material that selectively adsorbs cesium for removal and detection of cesium. To confirm the adsorption performance of the produced Prussian blue, immersion experiments were conducted using Cs standard solution, and MCNP simulations were performed by modeling 1L reservoir to conduct experiments using radioactive Cs in the future. An adsorption experiment was conducted with water containing standard cesium solution using alginate beads impregnated with Prussian blue. The adsorption experiment tested how much cesium of the same concentration was adsorbed over time. As a result, it was found that Prussian blue beads removed about 80% of cesium within 10-15 minutes. In addition, MCNP simulation was performed using a 1 L reservoir and a 3inch NaI detector to optimize the amount of Prussian blue. The results of comparing the efficiency according to the Prussian volume was shown. It showed that our designed system holds great promise for the cleanup and detection of radioactive cesium contaminated seawater around nuclear plants and/or after nuclear accidents. Thus, this work is expected to provide insights into the fundamental MCNP simulation based optimization of Prussian blue for cesium removal and this work based MCNP simulation will pave the way for various practical applications.

        Dry storage of nuclear fuel is compromised by threats to the cladding integrity, such as creep and hydride reorientation. To predict these phenomena, spent fuel simulation codes have been developed. In spent fuel simulation, temperature information is the most influential factor for creep and hydride formation. Traditional fuel simulation codes required a user-defined temperature history input which is given by separate thermal analysis. Moreover, geometric changes in nuclear fuel, such as creep, can alter the cask’s internal subchannels, thereby changing the thermal analysis. This necessitates the development of a coupled thermal and nuclear fuel analysis code. In this study, we integrated the 2D FDM nuclear fuel code GIFT developed at SNU with COBRA -SFS. Using this, we analyzed spent nuclear stored in TN-24P dry storage cask over several decades and identified conditions posing threats due to phenomena like creep and hydrogen reorientation, represented by the burnup and peak cladding temperature at the start of dry storage. We also investigated the safety zone of spent nuclear fuel based on burnup and wet storage duration using decay heat.

        This study investigated the effectiveness of various chlorinating agents in partitioning light water reactor spent fuel, with the aim of optimizing the chlorination process. Through thermodynamic equilibrium calculations, the effects of using MgCl2, NH4Cl, and Cl2 as a single chlorinating agent or applying MgCl2, NH4Cl, and Cl2 sequentially for spent fuel chlorination were evaluated Furthermore, in this study, assuming the actual process operation situation, where only a part of the semi-volatile nuclides is removed during the heat treatment process, and including the process of precipitating the molten salt from the chlorination process with K3PO4 and K2CO3 precipitants, the percentage distribution of 50 nuclides in the light water reactor spent fuel into each process stream was quantitatively calculated using the simulation function of the HSC program and tabulated for intuitive viewing. Compared to a single chlorinator, sequential chlorination more effectively separated the heat and radioactivity of the spent fuel from the uranium-dominated product solids. Specifically, the sequential application of the chlorinating agents following heat treatment led to a final solid separation characterized by 93.1% mass retention, 5.1% radioactivity, and 15.4% decay heat, relative to the original spent fuel. The findings underscore that sequential chlorination can be an effective method for spent fuel partitioning, either as a standalone approach or in combination with other partitioning processes such as pyroprocessing.

        This study seeks to increase the satisfaction of elderly men when purchasing and wearing ready-to-wear clothes by designing a slacks pattern suitable for their body type, which is determined by analyzing their lower bodies using virtual avatars and 3D virtual simulation system. The study found the following. First, based on virtual visualization of the comparison slacks pattern, the waistline position was consistently the lowest scored question among the evaluation survey items. Interpretation of this dissatisfaction suggests that, because the front waistline falls below the abdomen, the lower body, and especially the abdominal shape, is unpleasantly emphasized. Second, by using a virtual simulation system, the study developed a new slacks pattern that considered the concerns of elderly men. The primary measurement changes were as follows: front waist girth W/4+1.5cm+0.5cm, back waist girth W/4+1.5cm–0.5cm, front hip girth H/4+2.5cm–0.5cm, back hip girth H/4+2.5cm+0.5cm. Third, the new slacks pattern’s appearance was evaluated more highly than the comparison pattern, confirming the new pattern’s appropriateness for elderly men. This study demonstrates how slacks and other clothing patterns designed in a 3D virtual garment simulator can be used to design more appealing clothing for elderly men, increasing the satisfaction of wearing ready-made clothes at older ages.

        본 연구의 목적은 시뮬레이션 실습 교육에서 임상수행능력에 대한 명확한 개념의 속성을 규명 하고 이를 조직화하여 임상수행능력에 대한 이론적 근거를 마련하기 위해 시도되었다. 연구 방법으로는 Walker And Avant의 개념분석 방법을 사용하였다. KISS, KMbase, DBpia, RISS, PubMed, CINAHL, Medline의 데이터베이스에서 보건의료인 교육을 위한 시뮬레이션 교육이 권고된 시점인 2000년부터 2023 년 4월까지 보고된 논문을 수집하였다. 연구 결과 임상수행능력의 속성은 (1) 지식, 판단, 기술의 종합적인 능력, (2) 의료 환경 변화에 능숙히 대처하는 능력, (3) 간호 대상자의 요구에 적절하게 대응하여 간호 역할 을 수행하는 능력이다. 본 연구는 시뮬레이션 실습 교육에서 임상수행능력에 대한 연구가 활발한 상황에서 간호학적 관점의 중요성을 인식하고, 개념분석을 한 연구로서 의의가 있다. 본 연구에서 나타난 시뮬레이 션 실습 교육에서 임상수행능력 속성을 포함한 훈련 프로그램 및 도구를 개발하고 이를 활용하여 프로그램 의 효과를 측정하는 것이 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

        The need for lightweight yet strong materials is being demanded in all industries. Carbon fiber-reinforced plastic is a material with increased strength by attaching carbon fiber to plastic, and is widely used in the aerospace industry, ships, automobiles, and civil engineering based on its low density. Carbon-reinforced fiber plastic is a material widely used in parts and manufactured products, and structural analysis simulation is required during design, and application of actual material properties is necessary for accurate structural analysis simulation. In the case of carbon-reinforced fiber plastics, it is reported that there is a porosity of around 0.5% to 6%, and it is necessary to check the change in material properties according to the porosity and pore shape. It was confirmed by applying the method. It was confirmed that the change in elastic modulus according to the porosity was 10.7% different from the base material when the porosity was 6.0%, and the Poisson's ratio was confirmed to be less than 3.0%. It was confirmed that the elliptical spherical pore derived different material properties from the spherical pore depending on the pore shape, and it was confirmed that the shape of the pore had to be confirmed to derive equivalent material properties.
