        This study was conducted to investigate effect of feeding beet pulp on reproductive performance, colostrum composition and microbiological characteristics in sows. A total of 12 sows(Landrace×Yorkshire) were randomly allotted three dietary treatments at gestating 90 days. The diets were prepared by adding 0, 5 and 10% of the beet pulp in basal diets. The pigs fed 5% beet pulp showed higher litter size than the 0 and 10% beet pulp treatments, although there was not significant among the treatments. Similarly, birth and 21days weight in piglet were not different among the treatments. In colostrum fat, protein, lactose, citric acid, solid, ffa, true protein were ranged to reference values, but not difference among the treatments. E.coli of feces was lower(P<0.01) in the 5% beet pulp than the 0 and 10% beet pulp treatments. But no effect was observed on Lactobacilli of feces among dietary treatments. These our results indicate the beet pulp has no significant effect of reproductive performance and colostrum composition in sows. But, 5% level beet pulp is effective for reduction of intestinal pathogenic microorganisms.

        본 연구는 한우 암소비육에 있어서 고 에너지의 육성용 TMR(TDN 72.7%DM, CP 13.65%DM)을 육성기(8~12개월령) 및 비육기(13~24개월령)까지는 제한급여하고, 이후 비육 마무리기(25~32개월령)까지 자유 채식시켰을 때, 증체수준, 도체특성 및 경제성에 미치는 영향을 구명하고자 수행되었다. 공시축은 한우 암소 35두(8개월령)를 이용하여 Control구(5두), T1(10두), T2(10두) 및 T3(10두)구로 나누어 난괴법으로 배치하였다. 공시사료는 전기간 동일한 육성용 TMR을 Control구에서는 자유채식 시켰고, T1, T2, T3구에서는 각각 체중의 1.8%, 1.6% 및 1.5%로 제한하여 24개월령까지 급여하였다. 한우 암소의 체중은 비육마무리기간에서 Control구에 비해 T1, T2 및 T3 처리구가 각각 4.9%, 3.6% 및 2.5% 높은 것으로 나타났다 (p<0.05). 일일증체량은 육성기에는 Control구와 T1구가 다른 처리구에 비해 높았으며(p<0.05), 비육마무리기의 T1 처리구가 다른 처리구에 비해 높았다(p<0.05). 건물섭취량과 TDN 섭취량은 비육마무리기간에서 T1구가 가장 높았다(p<0.05). 고 에너지의 육성우용 TMR을 전 기간동안 급여함으로써 도체중과 배최장근 단면적이 일반적인 한우 암소비육 결과에 비해 현저히 증가되었다. 처리구별 도체중은 Control구에 비해 T1구가 약 11.6% 많았으며(p<0.05), 지방색과 성숙도는 Control구에서 높았다(p<0.05). 근내지방도, 육색 및 조직감은 처리구간 유의적 차이는 없었으나, 육량등급 출현율에 있어서는 Control구에서 A등급이 60%로서 다른 처리구에 비해 높았다. 육질등급에서 1++ 등급 출현율은 Control, T1, T2 및 T3구에서 각각 0%, 20%, 20% 및 0%로 나타났다. 순수익은 Control구에 비해 T1과 T2구가 각각 15% 및 13% 증가되었으나 T3구는 2% 감소한 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로, 한우 미경산우 비육 시, 고에너지의 육성용 사료를 육성기부터 비육기(13~24개월령)까지 체중의 1.8% 수준으로 제한 급여하는 것이 전 기간 동안 자유채식시키는 것보다 도체중이나 육질등급 증가로 경제성이 향상되어 한우암소 고급육생산 프로그램 개발에 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

        In order to develop the D. adamsi breeding technique that is highly likely to be used as an emotional pet insect, the results of the D. adamsi was collected in the large exhibition Jang Tae-san in Daejeon to the indoor breeding began to spawn after 10 days after the training, the egg laying period was 33.6 days, the average number of spawn per female was 27.7, and the period was 11.8 days. D. adamsi larvae bred with food of oak-boiled molted two times, the duration of 1st larvae development was 11.8 days, 2nd larvae 14.5 days, and the third larvae was 29.4, and the larvae were used to build houses using Masato(soil) and in the pupae, and then in April of the following year. D. adamsi has a characteristic to build a house with fallen leaves and spawn one or two eggs in the fallen leaves, and the results of the spawn mat test using fallen leaves, leaf mold and a sawdust, etc., and the number of spawn was high in the Masato was spread about 3 ~ 5cm, and a fallen leaves on a 10 cm or so, and the growth and survival rate of the larvae were also high. Larvae breeding density was 2 ~ 3 ℓ in the container size to raise the object was normal growth, the higher the density mortality was high and the growth was sluggish. Larvae feeding conditions were normally developed in dry fallen leaves and fermented fallen leaves, compared to the sterile fallen leaves, oak sawdust, sterile fallen leaves and oak sawdust was abnormal, the mortality rate was higher than 50%.

        기후변화, 외래병해충발생, 밀원수 감소 등 여러 요인으로 인해 우리 나라의 양봉농가는 벌꿀생산량 및 농가소득이 감소하는 추세이다. 또한 밀원이 없는 시기에 가축용 사료가 아닌 고가의 식용설탕을 꿀벌의 인공사료로 급여하고 있어 농가는 ‘생산비 상승’과 ‘밀원수 부족’을 국내양봉업이 직면한 가장 큰 문제점으로 지적하고 있다. 이에 따른 양봉농가의 생산비를 절감하고 꿀벌의 생리·생태의 개선효과를 가지는 저가형 당액사료개발을 위해 농산부산물에서 추출한 천연당을 봉군에 적용시험을 추진하였다. 양파(OS-1, OS-2), 양배추(CS-1, CS-2), 바나나(Banana)부산물에서 추출한 천연당의 봉군당 평균먹이소모량(mL)은 설탕당액(대조구) 처리구와 비교시 바나나추출당액 급여구에서 5500.00±0.00, 5133.33±404.15로 유사하였다. 그러나 꿀벌의 봉세발달은 대조구에 비해 21006.7±2137, 17403.3±2257마리로 조사되어 낮은 경향을 나타내었고 수명조사 결과는 큰 차이가 없었다. 농산부산물을 이용한 천연당은 우선 꿀벌의 기호도 향상을 우선으로 개선시켜야 할 것으로 보인다.

        포식성이리응애류는 섭식행동이 왕성한 천적군으로 알려져 있으며, 다수의 종들이 상업적으로 개발되고 있다. 이에 우리는 국내 토착 포식성이리응애의 이용도를 탐색하였다. 2012년까지 국내에서 서식이 보고된 포식성이리응애류은 47종을 대상으로 구글 학술검색을 이용하여 논문수를 조사한 결과, 사막이리응애가 3,560개로 가장 많은 수가 검색되었다. 천개 이상의 논문이 검색된 종은 서양이리응애(3,160개), 나팔이리응애(1,590개), 순이리응애(1,510개), 대중이리응애(1,260개), 긴털이리응애(1,190개), 동양이리응애 (1,020개)이었다. 백개 이상의 논문이 검색된 종은 긴꼬리이리응애(314개), 알락이리응애(109개), 엷은줄이리응애(345개), 북방이리응애(143개), 꽃무늬이리응애(200개) 등 5종이었다. 이 중 전세계적으로 상품화가 보고된 종은 사막이리응애, 서양이리응애, 나팔이리응애이다. 국내에 서식이 보고되지 않았으나, 국내외 농업현장에서 가장 많이 사용되는 지중해이리응애는 5,060개가 보고되었다. 긴꼬리이리응애는 국내에서 47종의 식물에서 서식하여 가장 많은 식물 종에서 발견된 포식성이리응애로 농업해충인 점박이응애, 총채벌레류, 가루이류를 포식하며, 농업해충 외에 농작물해충이 아닌 긴털가루응애, 설탕응애, 꽃가루 등의 섭식을 확인하여 앞으로 국내에서 농업해충을 방제하기 위한 천적으로 활용여부에 대한 적극적인 검토가 요구된다.

        Insect-resistant transgenic (Bt-9) rice was generated by inserting the mCry1Ac1 a modified gene from the soil bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis into the genome of a conventional variety of rice (Ilmibyeo). With regard to the potential problems of safety, the non-target organism evaluation is required as an essential element for the environmental risk assessment of genetically modified (GM) crops. For biosafety assessment, we studied the effects on survival of cantor Daphnia magna, a commonly used as a model organism in ecotoxicological studies. D. magna fed on Bt-transgenic rice (Bt-9) and its near non-GM counterparts (Ilmibyeo) grown in the same environment (100% ground rice suspension). The Bt-9 rice was comfirmed to have the insertion of T-DNA and protein expression by the PCR and ELISA analysis. Feeding study showed similar cumulative immobility and abnormal response of Daphnia magna between Bt-9 rice and Ilmibyeo. 48hr-EC50 values of Bt-9 and Ilmi rice showed 4,400 mg/L (95% confidence limits: 3861.01 ~ 5015.01 mg/L) and 5,564mg/L (95% confidence limits: 4780.03 ~ 6476.93 mg/L) respectively. The rice NOEC (No observed effect concentration) value for D. magna was suggested 1,620mg/L. We conclude that the tested Bt-9 and Ilmi similar cumulative immobility for D. magna the widely used model organism. We found out that there is strong possibility that the growth of Bt-9 didn’t affect to non-target insects.

        The purpose of the present study was to evaluate if main domestic vector mosquitoes, Aedes albopictus as a diurnal species and Culex pipiens as a nocturnal species, have correlation between reflecting luminous intensity of colors and preference for blood feeding activity. Laboratory evaluations were performed and the mosquito preferences were compared to three different color brightness such as light, primary, and dark for five fundamental color series including red, yellow, green, blue, and purple. The test bodies selected for these experiments were BioGents Sentinel traps (BG traps) with 20g dry ice in each falcon tube, which covered outside of the traps attached with three different luminous intensities such as light, primary, and dark for each different color of paper sheets. In each experiment, a pair of BG traps was placed 0.6 m away from each other in a 1.8 m x 3.7 m x 1.8 m screened enclosure. The enclosure maintained at 26±2℃, 65±5% RH, and 100 lux illumination. Evaluations were performed for two hours between 10:00 and 16:00 for each 25 Ae. ablopictus females and 15 hours from 18:00 to 9:00 for each 25 Cx. pipiens females. Each experiment was replicated four times. As a result, reflecting luminous intensity (L-value) affected and correlated negatively to the preference of the two mosquito species but the fundamental colors, green-red (a-value) and blue-yellow (b-value) were not correlated significantly to the preference (p=0.05). Aedes ablopictus females were preferred for feeding activity more to lower L-values of the colors and correlated negatively between color preference of the mosquitoes and the L-values such as r = -0.584 (p=0.003) for red, r = -0.606 (p=0.002) for yellow, r = -0.620 (p=0.001) for green, and r = -0.463 (p=0.023) for blue except purple (r = -0.129; p=0.549). Similarly, Cx. pipiens females were correlated negatively such as r = -0.590 (p=0.002) for red, r = -0.564 (p=0.005) for yellow, r = -0.687 (p=0.000) for green, r = -0.623 (p=0.001) for blue, and r = -0.689 (p=0.000). In conclusion, the color brightness were negatively correlated to the feeding activity of the two vector mosquito species but not the wavelength of visible ray. Also, the mosquito females preferred significantly darker ones in the same color series (p<0.05) except purple for Ae. ablopictus females.

In each experiment, a pair of BG traps was placed 0.6 m away from each other in a 1.8 m x 3.7 m x 1.8 m screened enclosure. The enclosure maintained at 26±2℃, 65±5% RH, and 100 lux illumination. Evaluations were performed for two hours between 10:00 and 16:00 for each 25 Ae. ablopictus females and 15 hours from 18:00 to 9:00 for each 25 Cx. pipiens females. The attraction rates were determined by a series of 42 simultaneous pairs of sample counts of the number of mosquitoes caught in the traps at every 30 minutes. As a result, black traps collected the largest number of Ae. albopictus as a mean 0.7 of 1.0 for Mosquito Preference Index (MPI), followed closely by red, blue, and purple (MPIs, 0.6) that were significantly higher (p<0.05) than those of green (MPI, 0.5), white (MPI, 0.3), and yellow (MPI, 0.2). Similarly, the MPIs for Cx. pipiens were significantly higher at black and red traps (MPIs, 0.7) but the MPIs (0.3) at white and yellow traps were significantly lower than those of the other colors.

        1분 간격 자동 잎면적 분석을 통해 온도에 따른 담배거세미나방 유충의 섭식과 발육을 조사하였다. 20, 25, 30℃의 세 온도에서 피망 잎을 배지에 부착하여 담배거세미나방 유충에 제공하였고 하루에 한번내지 두번 새로운 잎을 갈아주었다. 30℃에서 담배거세미나방 유충은 탈피 직후 섭식을 즉시 시작하여 1회 섭식은 10~15분 지속하고, 60~90분 간격으로 섭식을 하였다. 이러한 섭식 행동은 약 30~50시간 지속되며 탈피 직전 10~16시간 동안은 섭식이 중단되었다. 탈피 후 앞서의 섭식 패턴은 다음 영기에서 동일하게 반복되었다. 25℃에서 담배거세미나방 유충의 영기 내 섭식 기간은 약 32~53시간 지속되며 탈피 전 비섭식 기간은 16~22시간 지속되었다. 20℃에서는 영기 내섭식 기간은 60~133시간으로 크게 증가하고 비섭식 기간도 11~38시간으로 다른 온도에 비해 길어졌으며 다른 온도와 달리 7령충까지 발육하였다. 2령충에서 고치 형성 전까지의 발육 시간은 20℃에서는 39046분(27.1일)이 소요되었고 25℃에서는 17626분(12.2일), 30℃에서는 14168분(9.8일)으로 조사되었다. 각 온도별 유충의 섭식량은 영기에 따라 지수적으로 증가하였다.

        Hermetia illucens is one of many of solider flies and the species was decomposing ability to food waste, livestock feces and so on. Specially, the study was conducted to investigated of artificial feeding using the livestock feces, because of easy to get and see in a rural areas. But, comparing food waste with livestock feces, the growth character of H. illucens was generally small size and the growth period is longer than feeding food waste. In order this problem, the experiment was performed by mixing sugar 1%, 5%, 10%, 20% , which can accelerate the degradation of the pig and cattle feces during the 0, 3, 5, 7 days. As a result, when the width and length of H. illucens were compared by sugar mixing and fermentation period, they was no significant difference. Decomposing ability of a larvae were 0.44g with cattle feces+sugar 5% than 20% and were 0.64g with pig feces+sugar 20% than 5%.

        RNA interference (RNAi)-based strategy has been developed to control various phytophagous chewing pests. However, only a few cases of RNAi-based control success have been reported for sucking pests, suggesting that sucking pests likely ingest less amount of transgenic subcellular hairpin RNA (or dsRNA). In this study, as the basic information for the establishment of ingestion RNAi against sucking pests, feeding amount and time course of plant subcellular fractions of the four sucking pest species (Frankliniella occidentalis, Frankliniella intonsa, Tetranychus urticae and Nilaparvata lugans) were determined by quantitative PCR (qPCR). Adults of the four species were starved for 24 h and then fed with kidney bean leaf (F. occidentalis, F. intonsa, T. urticae) or rice leaf (N. lugens) for 48 h. The leaf-fed adults were collected every 6-h interval and their genomic DNA was extracted. The ingested fractions of chloroplast and nuclear were quantified using rubisco and 50s rRNA as marker genes, respectively. The ingested amount of rubisco and 50s rRNA genes in F. occidentalis, F. intonsa and T. urticae showed rapid increasing pattern after feeding and then slightly reduced over time. In contrast, N. lugens neither ingest nuclear nor showed any distinct feeding pattern of chloroplast. These results demonstrate that F. occidentalis, F. intonsa and T. urticae ingest both chloroplasts and nucleus along with cytosol as cell-feeders but N. lugens, a phloem sap feeder, does not ingest nucleus during sucking. Our findings further suggest that ingestion RNAi-based control strategy would work better for cell-feeding sucking pests compared to phloem sap-feeding sucking pests.

        The green peach aphid, Myzus persicae Sülzer, is an important sap-sucking pest of many plants, including Chinese cabbage. The objective of this study was therefore (1) to determine the effects of sublethal concentrations of afidopyropen, sulfoxaflor, and spirotetramat on adult longevity and the fecundity of M. persicae, and (2) to study the feeding behavior of M. persicae on Chinese cabbage leaves treated with various concentrations of these three insecticides. Longevity and total fecundity of M. persicae adults were decreased at concentrations higher than LC30. Feeding behavior analyses using an electrical penetration graph showed that sublethal concentrations of afidopyropen, sulfoxaflor, and spirotetramat had significant effects on the duration of phloem ingestion.

        The main objective of this experiment was to investigate effects of two different feeding systems on body weight, milk yield, milk composition, and mineral and fatty acids content of Holstein dairy cows’ milk. Sixteen of 25 months-old Holstein dairy cows were assigned to two groups (n=8) to study effects of the feeding system for 150 days. Two feeding systems were compared for five months; Group 1 was housed indoors and mainly fed a concentrate diet, Group 2 was maintained outdoors for five-seven hours/day on various kinds grass in a pasture. The experiment was conducted June-October 2017. Results revealed the indoor-fed cows had higher body weight, that was significant compared with the outdoor-based feeding system of Holstein dairy cows (p<0.05). Indoor-raised milking cows had higher milk yield (32.45 kg) as compared with pasture-raised milk yield (26.44 kg). Cows fed indoors significantly increased milk yield, total protein content, lactose, citric acid level, and lowered level of total solid and free fatty acids relative to the pasture-fed milking cows (p>0.05). There were higher levels of mineral content and fatty acid content in the milk of indoor-fed dairy cows than the pasture-raised dairy cows (p>0.05). Our study results demonstrated the potential benefits of the indoor feeding system for increased body weight, milk yield, mineral and fatty acids content summer through autumn when low pasture growth rates and quality may otherwise limit production.

        This study was conducted to determine grazing intensity of growing Korean native goats(Capra hircus coreanae) on mountainous pasture. It was carried out to obtain basic information for improvement of mountainous pasture management and establishing feeding system of Korean native goat. A total of 20 goats were grouped by feeding systems [A mountainous pasture grazing group (Concentrated feed of 1.5% body weight, treatment 1, T1, n=10) and a barn feeding group (TMR, treatment 2, T2), n=10] to conduct study from April to September. The average forage productivity of the mountain pasture was 500.9 ± 61.41 kg/ha. The average dry matter intake in T1 was 0.64 and the calculated grazing intensity was 21 head/ha. In productivity, when the two treatments(T1, T2) were compared, the dry matter intake was about two to three times the difference. The average daily gain per day during the experiment was 63.3 in the mountain pasture and 120 g in barn feeding. When grazing, considering mountainous pasture productivity it is necessary to increase the productivity through proper feeding. The feed costs of black goats raised by grazing on the grassland in the same period showed an average 75% reduction compared to barn feeding. As a result of this study, it can be expected that a considerable reduction of feed costs can be expected in the breeding of Korean native black goat using the mountain pasture.

        저염분 순치기간에 먹이를 섭취함으로서 얻을 수 있는 초기 유생의 생리적 변화는 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있다. 하루 동안의 순치기간에 염분농도에 따른 유생의 생존율은 차이를 보였지만 각 염분구간별 먹이섭취 유무에 따른 생존효과는 유사하였다. 그러나 먹이섭취 시 유생이 에너지원으로 활용할 수 있는 cholesterol, triglyceride의 증가가 있었으며 삼투압에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 glucose 농도가 유의적으로 증가하였다. 또한 저염분 순치기간 동안에 스트레스, 조직손상 및 대사작용의 지표가 되는 BUN과 creatine의 감소가 있었다. 먹이섭취로 인한 소화효소의 활성이 먹이를 섭취한 실험구 모두에서 증가하였다. 그러므로 유생발달과 함께 중요한 소화, 순환, 생식기관이 형성되며 탈피 성장을 위한 신진대사가 빠르게 진행되는 유생시기에 저염분 순치가 효율적으로 이루어져 향후 지속적인 성장을 유도하기 위해서는 먹이를 섭취하는 것이 더 효과적인 것으로 판단되었다.
