        Radioactive waste (hereinafter referred to as mixed waste) containing hazardous substances (heavy metals, organic and inorganic waste liquids, asbestos, etc.) has been continuously generated from domestic nuclear power plants, nuclear facilities, and other industrial facilities, and heavy metals were released during the dismantlement of Kori Unit 1 and Wolseong Unit 1. Lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic), asbestos, decontamination waste liquid (organic/inorganic waste liquid), etc. may be generated. Although hazardous waste related to the nuclear industry continues to be generated, only the regulation direction for hazardous substances is presented in the provisions related to hazardous substances in the delivery regulations for low and intermediate-level radioactive waste and the acceptance criteria for low and intermediate-level radioactive waste disposal facilities. In particular, because there is no clear definition of “hazardousness” and specific standards such as concentration and characteristics for classification of hazardous substances, as well as hazard removal procedures when the hazardousness of radioactive waste is confirmed, no hazardous substances have been delivered in Korea to date and many mixed wastes are stored at each generation facility or at the NPP. As a plan to improve delivery standards related to mixed waste is being prepared recently, it is believed that if the acceptance standards are revised accordingly, it will be possible to confirm the suitability for disposal of drums produced after the establishment of the acceptance standards in 2015. However, it is believed that securing disposal suitability for waste that was packed in 200L drums and compressed under super high pressure in the absence of specific technical standards and regulatory guidelines for the disposal of radioactive waste containing hazardous substances would still remain a difficult problem. In this report overseas acceptance standards related to hazardous waste were reviewed and a plan to secure the disposal suitability of 200 L drums compressed with of super high pressure was proposed.

        우리나라 열병합 발전소에서 운영되고 있는 최신 증기터빈의 출력과 효율 향상을 위한 첫 번째 기술적인 진보는 고온, 고압의 증기를 사용할 수 있는 소재 개발의 진척이라고 할 수 있다. 소재의 발전과 더불어 증기터빈의 내부효율 향상을 위한 설계적 노력의 결실 로 높은 효율의 증기터빈이 제작되었다. 오랜 기간 운전 중인 증기터빈의 내부효율은 기계적 수명의 한계로 점차 손실이 발생하고 효율 과 출력이 떨어지게 된다. 이러한 이유로 본 연구에서는 상용프로그램을 이용하여 열병합 발전소용 고압(HP)-중압(IP) 증기터빈의 증기유 로 성능해석을 수행할 수 있는 모델을 개발하고 성능계산 방법을 제시하고자 한다. 증기터빈의 복잡한 성능계산방식으로 인해 증기터빈 실무자들에게 실질적으로 유용한 참고문헌이 될 수 있도록 주요 변수들을 제시하였다. 또한 증기터빈 성능계산에 필요한 열정산도 분석 과 증기터빈 성능계산 결과의 적합성을 성능시험 결과와 비교 확인하였다.

        High-pressure sodium (HPS) lamps have been widely used as a useful supplemental light source to emit sufficient photosynthetically active radiation and provide a radiant heat, which contribute the heat requirement in greenhouses. The objective of this study to analyze the thermal characteristics of HPS lamp and thermal behavior in supplemented greenhouse, and evaluate the performance of a horizontal leaf temperature of sweet pepper plants using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation. We simulated horizontal leaf temperature on upper canopy according to three growth stage scenarios, which represented 1.0, 1.6, and 2.2 plant height, respectively. We also measured vertical leaf and air temperature accompanied by heat generation of HPS lamps. There was large leaf to air temperature differential due to non-uniformity in temperature. In our numerical calculation, thermal energy of HPS lamps contributed of 50.1% the total heat requirement on Dec. 2022. The CFD model was validated by comparing measured and simulated data at the same operating condition. Mean absolute error and root mean square error were below 0.5, which means the CFD simulation values were highly accurate. Our result about vertical leaf and air temperature can be used in decision making for efficient thermal energy management and crop growth.

        We report the behaviour of carbon black (CB) nanoparticles (spherical carbon shells), subjected to external pressure, using diamond anvil cell at synchrotron facility. CB nanoparticles have been synthesized by lamp black method using olive oil as combustion precursor and ferrocene as an organometallic additive. The catalyst-assisted CB has an iron oxide (γ-Fe2O3) core and amorphous carbon shell (i.e. core–shell structure). Our present study suggests that the carbon shells are partially transparent to the applied high pressure, and result in the reduction of effective pressure that gets transferred to the iron oxide core. High-pressure Raman spectroscopy results indicate that the surrounding carbon shells get compressed with pressure and this change is reversible. However, no structural transformation was observed till the highest applied pressure (25 GPa). The Raman spectroscopy results also suggests that the carbon shells are less pressure sensitive as their pressure coefficients (dω/dP) of G-peak were calculated (3.79 cm− 1/GPa) to be less than that for other carbon allotropes.

        수산물을 활용한 반려묘 간식개발을 위하여 명태, 조피볼락, 넙치, 돌돔, 연어 및 참치 등의 부산물을 고압고온에서 삶아 그 농축액을 반려묘에게 급여하였다. 반려묘의 기호도가 높은 실험구는 연어와 참치 농축액이었다. 여기에 통영에서 생산되는 멸치, 홍합 및 굴 건조물을 분쇄하여 첨가한 결과 모든 구에서 섭식행동을 나타내었다. 시중에 판매되고 있는 기존의 반려묘 간식과 차별화를 위하여 멍게껍질에 함유된 콘드로이친황산(ChS)을 추출하고 일정량을 연어 및 참치 농축액에 첨가하여 섭식을 실험한 결과 모두 잘 먹는 것으로 나타났다. 과잉생산 된 수산건제품을 반려묘 간식 개발에 활용할 수 있어 수산부산물의 활용방안을 제시할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

        By applying super-high pressure (150-250 MPa) to a sealed pressure vessel, it is possible to make oyster shucking machine that automatically opens two-sheet shellfish or oysters. Possibility of developing a shucking machine was confirmed by identifying the working pressure for meat of oysters produced in the southern coast and conducting sensory evaluation of meat oysters. As a result of confirming the shucked oysters under super-high pressure of 150 MPa in the pressure vessel, the number of type A with separated shells and well-separated meat was 22 and type B with both shells and internal meat and shells not separated. For the oysters that were treated at 175 MPa, there were 58 type As with shell separated and meat well separated and 42 type Bs without oyster shells and insides. When looking at the oysters shucked at 200 MPa in the pressure vessel, the number of type A was 86 and type B was 14 accounting for 86% of oysters with good marketability. As a result of shucking oysters by applying 250 MPa, 96% type A oysters and 4% type B oysters were obtained from the total specimen. The total specimen oyster weight used in the conducted experiment was 6 kg, the average oyster shell weight was 3.99 kg and the average oyster meat weight was 1.25 kg. Therefore, the fatness of oyster meat, which measures the added value of oysters, is 20.8%. Sensory evaluation was conducted on thinned oysters by hand and type A oysters shelled by machine with an operating pressure of 200 MPa. The hand-worked oyster sample scored 4.7 points only in salty taste, and scored 5.0 or higher in color, shape, smell, fishy taste, texture and preference.

        In this study, the layered structures of immiscible Fe and Cu metals were employed to investigate the interface evolution through solid-state mixing. The pure Fe and Cu powders were cold-consolidated by high-pressure torsion (HPT) to fabricate a layered Cu-Fe-Cu structure. The microstructural evolutions and flow of immiscible Fe and Cu metals were investigated following different iterations of HPT processing. The results indicate that the HPTprocessed sample following four iterations showed a sharp chemical boundary between the Fe and Cu layers. In addition, the Cu powders exhibited perfect consolidation through HPT processing. However, the Fe layer contained many microcracks. After 20 iterations of HPT, the shear strain generated by HPT produced interface instability, which caused the initial layered structure to disappear.

        Hydrolyzed proteins have an advantage over intact proteins in terms of their rate of digestion and absorption. The high-pressure enzymatic extraction (HPE) method has been shown to improve the quality characteristics of hydrolysates from Protaetia brevitarsis seulensis (Kolbe) larvae (PBSL). This study investigated the effects of the HPE treatment period, a key candidate factor, on the quality characteristics of PBSL HPE hydrolysates. The hydrolysates were prepared by HPE for 0, 12, 18, 24, 30, and 36 h under optimized conditions—solid:solvent ratio (1:14 [w/v]), using complex proteases (Alcalase:Flavorzyme:Bromelain = 1:1:1, 4%), treatment temperature (50oC), and pressure level (100 MPa). All quality characteristics tended to be superior with longer HPE treatment periods, most of which had the highest values at 30 h, with no significant difference or a slight decrease after that. The quality characteristics of the PBSL HPE hydrolysates were improved by 1.3-1.7 times under conditions of optimal HPE treatment period.

        본 연구의 목적은 겨울철 약광기 보광 시 줄기 유인 수가 온실 파프리카의 생육, 과실의 품질 및 생산량에 미치는 영향을 구명하는 것이다. 파프리카는 2020년 10월 26일에 m 2당 3.2 주를 정식하였고, 2020년 12월 1일부터 고압나트륨등을 작기 종료일인 2021년 5월 25일까지 하루 16시간의 광주기로 조사 하였다. 줄기 유인 처리는 분지 이후의 생장점이 각각 2, 3개로 유지되도록 유인해 주었다. 초장은 2줄기 유인 처리구에 비해 3줄기 유인 처리구에서 유의적으로 짧았고 마디수 및 엽수는 2줄기 유인 처리구에 비해 3줄기 유인 처리구에서 유의적으 로 증가했다. 엽면적 및 기관별 건물중은 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 과실 생체중 및 건물중은 모든 처리구에서 생육단계에 따라 감소하는 경향을 보였으며, 3줄기 유인 처리구가 2줄기 유인 처리구에 비해 낮은 수치를 보였다. 3줄 기 유인 처리구의 상품과율은 95.4%로 2줄기 유인 처리구의 93.6%에 비해 높았다. 총 수확량은 3줄기 유인 처리구에서 30.2% 높게 나타났다. 결론적으로 온실 파프리카의 3줄기 유인 재배는 적정 수준의 영양생장을 유지함으로써 과실 생산량에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다고 할 수 있다. 본 연구 결과는 파프 리카의 생산량 증대를 위한 농가 의사결정에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

        In this study, in order to manufacture STS 316L seamless pipes with 18mm, 25mm, and 42mm diameters that can be used for high pressure, we intend to make predictions through design and finite element analysis and produce real objects. It was measured to have the highest hardness value in the deformed part, and it is expected to be due to work hardening. It has been interpreted that plastic deformation does not occur up to 1,000bar for STS 316L seamless pipes with a diameter of 18mm and 25mm, but plastic deformation occurs at 900bar or more in STS 316L seamless pipes with a diameter of 42mm.

        In order to satisfy the strengthening automobile exhaust gas regulation and CO2 regulation, the development of eco-friendly vehicles is actively progressing. To cope with these regulations, research on alternative fuel vehicles is being actively conducted. Alternative fuels are one of the best ways to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and respond to emissions and CO2 regulations. Natural gas, one of many alternative fuels, contains methane (CH4) as a main component and has abundant reserves, so it is attracting attention as a fuel that can provide stable long-term supply by replacing fossil fuels. In addition, natural gas has a high octane number, so there is room for improvement in combustion characteristics when used in SI engines, and it has the advantage of reducing harmful emissions and carbon dioxide (CO2) compared to conventional fossil fuels. When using a low-pressure injector in a turbo engine, it is difficult to secure the flow rate of fuel because the pressure difference between the injector and the manifold is small. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a high-pressure injector to improve this. Natural gas is a gaseous fuel and should be developed in consideration of compressible flow, Although the use of a CNG high-pressure injector is required, it is difficult to stabilize the flow due to the Mach disk and shock wave interference caused by compressible flow. If the flow is not stabilized, it is difficult to precisely control the flow. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an injector in consideration of flow characteristics. In this paper, the flow analysis according to the shape change of the injector was conducted to improve the fuel flow rate injected from the 800 kPa high pressure CNG injector.

        High-pressure membrane system like nanofiltration(NF) and reverse osmosis(RO) was investigated as a part of water treatment processes to produce high quality potable water with low organic matter concentration through membrane module tests and design simulation. River water and sand filtration permeate in Busan D water treatment plant were selected as feed water, and NE4040-90 and RE4040-Fen(Toray Chemical Korea) were used as NF and RO membranes, respectively. Total organic carbon(TOC) concentrations of NF and RO permeates were mostly below 0.5 mg/l and the average TOC removal rates of NF and RO membranes were 93.99% and 94.28%, respectively, which means NF used in this study is competitive with RO in terms of organic matter removal ability. Different from ions rejection tendency, the TOC removal rate increases at higher recovery rates, which is because the portion of higher molecular weight materials in the concentrated raw water with increasing recovery rate increases. Discharge of NF/RO concentrates to rivers may not be acceptable because the increased TDS concentration of the concentrates can harm the river eco-system. Thus, the idea of using NF/RO concentrate as the raw water for industrial water production was introduced. The design simulation results with feed water and membranes used in this work reveal that the raw water guideline can be satisfied if the recovery rate of NF/RO system is designed below 80%.
