        The purpose of this study is to determine the possibility of using Crataegi fructus as natural health food source. The research was conducted to determine the biofunctional activities of Crataegi fructus extract. Methanolic extract from Crataegi fructus was partitioned by using organic solvents, including n-hexane, ethyl acetate, n butanol, and water. Ethyl acetate soluble fraction was shown to have the strongest antioxidant activity (RC50=4.39 ㎍/㎖) among the fractions. In the antimicrobial activity assays, ethyl acetate soluble fraction was effective in bacterial inhibition, against the cases of Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumonia, with minimum inhibitory concentrations in 125 ㎍/㎖. In the anticomplementary activity assays, water soluble fraction was the most effective exhibiting 18.4% inhibitory activity.

        The antioxidant activities of the methanol extract from Naematoloma sublateritium ,and its subfractions were assessed: ABTS+-radical-cation scavenging, 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH)-radical scavenging, ferric reducing- and nitrite scavenging activity. The chloroform subfraction exhibited the strongest antioxidant activity except nitrite scavenging activity in which water subfraction showed the highest activity (50% scavenging at 48 mg/ml). The trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC) of the chloroform subfraction was 649.40 μ mol/g of sample. This fraction also scavenged DPPH radical by 50% at 406.59 μg/ml. The highest ferric reducing activity was found in same subfraction (299.24 μmol FeSO4• 7H2O/g). Chloroform and ethylacetate fractions exhibited the highest contents of total phenolic compounds, with ferulic acid equivalents of 31.66 and 48.57 mg/g, respectively. The amount of flavonoid was at maximum in chloroform subfraction (18.66mg/g). The level of phenolic compounds may be correlated with the antioxidant activities of the subfractions. Therefore, the phenolic compounds in the subfractions were further identified by mass spectrometry using LC-MS/MS.

        Assai 열매추출물의 자유 라디칼 소거능을 측정하기 위하여 DPPH를 이용한 자유 라디칼 소거능 실험을 수행하여 항산화 효과를 측정한 결과, assai열매추출물의 농도가 높을수록 DPPH활성이 뛰어남을 알 수 있었고, ROS를 이용하여 항산화 효과를 확인하였다. 배양된 대식세포에 assai열매추출물을 농도별로 첨가한 결과, 농도가 높을수록 과산화수소에 의해 유도된 산화적 자극이 감소하였다. 또한 세포 생존에 미치는 영향을 알고자 assai열매추

        The potential antioxidant and anticancer activities of Hexane, EtOAc (Ethyl acetate), BuOH (n-Buthanol) and water fractions from methanolic (MeOH) extract of Picrasma quassioides (D. Don) Benn. were evaluated in vitro. Tested fractions showed strong antioxidant activity, especially EtOAc fraction had the highest activity (IC50 = 114.01 μg/mL), containing high total phenolics and total flavonoids contents, showed 67.59 Tan μg/mg and 64.95 Que μg/mg respectively. Anticancer activity of these fractions was tested by MTT assay on HT-29 (the human colon carcinoma cells) cell line. BuOH fraction not only showed very high anticancer activity, but also had no cytotoxic effect on 293 (the human normal kidney cells) cell line. Considering these results, we used BuOH fraction of MeOH crude extract from P. quassioides (D.Don) Benn. to do assessment of apoptosis by flow cytometry and the mRNA expression levels of widely established apoptotic-related genes on HT-29 cell line. All the experiments showed that BuOH fraction can induce apoptosis on HT-29 cell line strongly. Taken together, methanolic extract of P. quassioides has potential for antioxidant and anticancer activities products.

        곤달비 메탄올 추출물은 100mg/kg 및 200mg/kg의 경구투여로 STZ로 유도된 당뇨병의 제반 증상을 완화하였다. 즉, STZ의 투여는 흰쥐의 체중, 수분 섭취, 식이섭취를 증가시켰으며, 혈당량, 혈청 triglyceride 량, 동맥경화 위험지수를 증가시켰으나, 곤달비 추출물의 투여는 이러한 당뇨병에 관련된 증상을 개선하였다. 이와 더불어, 위의 당뇨병 모델 쥐에서 당내성 실험에서도 곤달비 추출물이 현저한 효과를 나타내었으므로 혈당의 세포내 이행을 촉진시키는 것으로 확인되었다. 이상과 같은 결과로부터 곤달비 추출물은 당뇨병 및 그에 따르는 고지혈증에 유효하였으므로 당뇨병 질환의 완화를 위하여 사용될 수 있는 산채 식품인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 곤달비의 활성 물질의 입증과 그 이용에 관한 계속적인 연구가 필요한 것으로 생각된다.
