In this study, nano-sized powder of Ni-ferrite was fabricated by spray pyrolysis process using the Fe-Ni complex waste acid solution generated during the shadow mask processing. The average particle size of the produced powder was below 100 nm. The effects of the reaction temperature, the inlet speed of solution and the air pressure on the properties of powder were studied. As the reaction temperature increased from 80 to 110, the average particle size of the powder increased from 40 nm to 100 nm, the fraction of the Ni-ferrite phase was also on the rise, and the surface area of the powder was greatly reduced. As the inlet speed of solution increased from 2 cc/min. to 10 cc/min., the average particle size of the powder greatly increased, and the fraction of the Ni-ferrite phase was on the rise. As the inlet speed of solution increased to 100 cc/min., the average particle size of the powder decreased slightly and the distribution of the particle size appeared more irregular. Along with the increase of the inlet speed of solution more than 10 cc/min., the fraction of the Ni-ferrite phase was decreased. As the air pressure increased up to 1 , the average particle size of the powder and the fraction of the Ni-ferrite phase was almost constant. In case of 3 air pressure, the average particle size of the powder and the fraction of the Ni-ferrite phase remarkably decreased.

The phenomenon of electrical explosion of conductors is considered in the context of the changes in the energy and structural states of the metal at the stages of energy delivery and relaxation of the primary products of EEC. It is shown that these changes are related to the forced interaction of an intense energy flux with matter and to the subsequent spontaneous relaxation processes. The characteristics of nano-sized metal powders are also discussed. The preferential gas media during EEC is Ar+. An increase in (in the range of values studied) leads to a reduction in the metal content. For reactive powders obtained with high metal content, it is necessary to separate the SFAP fractions, which settled on the negative electrode of the electric filter.

Nano-sized Ni-ferrite powder was fabricated by spray pyrolysis process using the waste solution resulting from shadow mask processing. The average particle size of the powder was below 100 nm. The effects of the concentration of raw material solution, the nozzle tip size and air pressure on the properties of powder were studied. As the concentration increased, the average particle size of the powder gradually increased and its specific surface area decreased, but size distribution was much wider and the fraction of the Ni-ferrite phase greatly increased as the concentration increasing. As the nozzle tip size increased from 1 mm to 2 mm, the average particle size of the powder decreased. In case of 3 mm nozzle tip size, the average particle size of the powder increased slightly. On the other hand, in case of 5 mm nozzle tip size, average particle size of the powder decreased. Size distribution of the powder was unhomogeneous, and the fraction of the Ni-ferrite phase decreased as the nozzle tip size increasing. As air pressure increased up to 1 kg/, the average particle size of the powder decreased slightly, on the other hand, the fraction of the Ni-ferrite phase was almost constant. In case of 3kg/ air pressure, average particle size of the powder and the fraction of the Ni-ferrite phase remarkably decreased, but size distribution was narrow.

To investigate the effect of the parameters of the plasma arc discharge process on the particle formation and particle characteristics of the iron nano powder, the chamber pressure, input current and the hydrogen volume fraction in the powder synthesis atmosphere were changed. The particle size and phase structure of the synthesized iron powder were studied using the FE-SEM, FE-TEM and XRD. The synthesized iron powder particle had a core-shell structure composed of the crystalline -Fe in the core and the crystalline in the shell. The powder generation rate and particle size mainly depended on the hydrogen volume fraction in the powder synthesis atmosphere. The particle size increased simultaneously with increasing the hydrogen volume fraction from 10% to 50%, and it ranged from about 45nm to 130 nm.

Al-l4wt.%Ni-l4wt.% Mm(Mm=misch metal) alloy powders rapidly solidified by the gas atomization method were subjected to mechanical milling(MM). The morphology, microstructure and hardness of the powders were investigated as a function of milling time using scanning electron microscopy(SEM), transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and Vickers microhardness tester. Microstructural evolution in gas-atomized Al-l4wt.%Ni-l4wt.% Mm(Mm=misch metal) alloy powders was studied during mechanical milling. It was noted that the as-solidified particle size of decreases during the first 48 hours and then increases up to 72 hours of milling due to cold bonding and subsequently there was continuous refinement to on milling to 200 hours. Two microstructurally different zones, Zone A, which is fine microstructure area and Zone B, which has the structure of the as-solidified powder, were observed. The average thickness of the Zone A layer increased from about 10 to in the powder milled for 24 hours. Increasing the milling time to 72 hours resulted in the formation of a thicker and more uniform Zone A layer, whose thickness increased to about . The TEM micrograph of ball milled powder for 200 hours shows formation of nano-particles, less than 20 nm in size, embedded in an Al matrix.

Silica hydrogel was synthesized by the reaction of liquid sodium silicate with sulfuric acid. The condensation polymerization of the synthesized hydrogel was carried out via an aging process under the acidic or alkaline conditions. Nano porous silica with the pore size below 3 nm and surface area of , was obtained by the above processes in acidic ranges(pH : 3~5). The pore size and surface area of the silica varied with pH, and in alkaline ranges(pH : 8~10), those were 21 nm and respectively. The characteristics of the silica varied with the thermal treatment which caused the change of surface area, pore volume and pore diameter.
