        In recent years, the young people who born in the 1980s and 1990s have been married, the number of young married couples who are open-minded is generally rising. Tourism has gradually been accepted as a new method to celebrate the wedding. So honeymoon tourism is so popular in the tourism market, and it has become a new tourism product in order to meet the newly married couples’ travel requirement. According to the study of the development of domestic and overseas honeymoon tourism market and the theory of consumer behavior and psychology, this paper has analyzed the factors influencing consumers’ honeymoon travel behavior. Shanghai, as one of the biggest international city in China, the number of honeymoon travel consumers is huge. So, by using the questionnaire, this paper also statistically analyzes and contrasts the characteristics of consumer behavior between Shanghai and other domestic active honeymoon tourism cities and researches the influential factors of honeymoon tourism. Finally through the results of this study, this paper provides a reasonable and effective marketing strategy about the development of Shanghai honeymoon tourism market, hoping to explore more potential customers for the enterprises, developing more new honeymoon tourism products, improving this tourism market system, and promoting the development of honeymoon tourism market.

        PURPOSES : The Toll Collection System (TCS) operated by the Korea Expressway Corporation provides accurate traffic counts between tollgates within the expressway network under the closed-type toll collection system. However, although origin-destination (OD) matrices for a travel demand model can be constructed using these traffic counts, these matrices cannot be directly applied because it is technically difficult to determine appropriate passenger car equivalent (PCE) values for the vehicle types used in TCS. Therefore, this study was initiated to systematically determine the appropriate PCE values of TCS vehicle types for the travel demand model. METHODS: To search for the appropriate PCE values of TCS vehicle types, a traffic demand model based on TCS-based OD matrices and the expressway network was developed. Using the traffic demand model and a genetic algorithm, the appropriate PCE values were optimized through an approach that minimizes errors between actual link counts and estimated link volumes. RESULTS : As a result of the optimization, the optimal PCE values of TCS vehicle types 1 and 5 were determined to be 1 and 3.7, respectively. Those of TCS vehicle types 2 through 4 are found in the manual for the preliminary feasibility study. CONCLUSIONS: Based on the given vehicle delay functions and network properties (i.e., speeds and capacities), the travel demand model with the optimized PCE values produced a MAPE value of 37.7%, RMSE value of 17124.14, and correlation coefficient of 0.9506. Conclusively, the optimized PCE values were revealed to produce estimates of expressway link volumes sufficiently close to actual link counts.

        PURPOSES: The goal of this study is to analyze the travel cost according to transferring from rotary to roundabout in Korea. METHODS: This study gives particular attentions to investigating the existing 48 rotaries in Korea and building the networks of before and after improvements using VISSIM, and analyzing their travel costs. RESULTS: The main results are as follows. First, from the field survey, the domestic rotaries were analyzed to need many improvements of geometric structure for the effective operation. Second, the difference of travel cost at 3-legged rotaries were evaluated to be less than other types of rotaries due to low traffic volume. Finally, the travel cost of 4-legged and multi-legged rotaries were analyzed to rapidly increase by increasing volume. CONCLUSIONS: This study analyzes the effects using both real and simulation data unlike the existing studies. Also, this study suggests the future research topics which compare and evaluate the relations between real data and simulation outputs.

        PURPOSES : The travel times of expressway buses have been estimated using the travel time data between entrance tollgates and exit tollgates, which are produced by the Toll Collections System (TCS). However, the travel time data from TCS has a few critical problems. For example, the travel time data include the travel times of trucks as well as those of buses. Therefore, the travel time estimation of expressway buses using TCS data may be implicitly and explicitly incorrect. The goal of this study is to improve the accuracy of the expressway bus travel time estimation using DSRC-based travel time by identifying the appropriate analysis period of input data. METHODS : All expressway buses are equipped with the Hi-Pass transponders so that the travel times of only expressway buses can be extracted now using DSRC. Thus, this study analyzed the operational characteristics as well as travel time patterns of the expressway buses operating between Seoul and Dajeon. And then, this study determined the most appropriate analysis period of input data for the expressway bus travel time estimation model in order to improve the accuracy of the model. RESULTS: As a result of feasibility analysis according to the analysis period, overall MAPE values were found to be similar. However, the MAPE values of the cases using similar volume patterns outperformed other cases. CONCLUSIONS: The best input period was that of the case which uses the travel time pattern of the days whose total expressway traffic volumes are similar to that of one day before the day during which the travel times of expressway buses must be estimated.

        PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to identify the factors affecting the effectiveness of speed limit change that is defined as the amount of increased travel speed. METHODS: A ordered logit model was adopted to analyze the relationship between the change in travel speed and contributing factors. A stretch of Kyungbu freeway was selected for the analysis because the Korea expressway corporation has raised speed limit from 100km/h to 110km/h since September 1st in 2010. RESULTS: The results showed that geometric design elements, speeding cameras, and section length were identified as factors contributing the effectiveness. Contributing geometric design elements include the number of horizontal curves and vertical curves that do not meet the design requirement with 110km/h speed limit. CONCLUSIONS: The outcome of this study will be used for establishing various traffic operations and control strategies for freeway speed management.

        Spa tourism is part of wellness tourism, which has been prosperously booming over the past decade. In accordance to the aforesaid, the spa-tourism-oriented marketing strategy is exceedingly significant for businesses akin to hotel, resort and even governments which aim at appealing to more tourists. For the future success, spa tourism needs to appreciate the changing demands of the spa market while providing enough capacity to satisfy them (Henderson, 2004). The worldwide spa industry revenue is growing up from US 60 billion in 2007 to US 73 billion in 2012 (Global Spa & Wellness Summit, 2012). Spa market is one of the fastest growing leisure markets both on the supply and demand sides. Nevertheless, spa industry is utterly fragmented with each segment catering for different customer needs (Harmsworth, 2004). Bali is a popular tourist destination renown for its nature beauty, which attracts both domestic and international tourists. Over the years, it has been dubbed as “the morning of the world”, “the last paradise” and “island with a thousand temples”. According to Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS, 2013), it was chosen as the most favorite tourist destination worldwide with a number of tourists totaled at 2,756,579. Among the foreign spa tourism patrons, Mainland Chinese tourists ranked the second while Taiwanese tourists being the fifth in ranking. CNN Travel (2012) reported that the Indonesian government estimated one million Mainland Chinese tourists would patronize the spa tourism in Bali by 2014. Regardless Mainland China and Taiwan are dual sovereignties which identically possess similar culture, there are still some aspects such as gender issue that distinguishes one from another. Furthermore, age, occupation, education, family structure, and life experience are some other aspects that differentiate Taiwanese and Mainland Chinese. In summation, the main objectives of this paper is threefold: (1) to compare the decision making process between Taiwanese and Chinese tourists, specifically, amid the wedded/unwedded couples; (2) to identify the most influential decision maker among the wedded-couple tourists/unwedded-couple tourists in Taiwan and Mainland China; (3) to assist travel agencies which aim at luring couple tourists to concoct the customized package tours. This research develops a quantitative survey for data collection, inference and the resulting data. The first part of questionnaire evaluates the influence regarding wedded / unwedded couples over how much influence each other have (problem recognition, information search, and a final decision) (Davis & Rigaux, 1974). The second part consists of fourteen sub-decisions: the destination (Bali), budget (how much money to spend), days (how much time to spend), accommodation (where to stay), and departure time (when to go) (Belch, Belch, & Ceresino, 1985; Szybillo & Sosanie, 1977); airline, restaurant, local transportation, shopping, travel agency, tour leader, tour guide, optional tour, and spa activities (Wang, Hsieh, & Huan, 2000; Heung & Chu, 2000) and the other kinds of activities (Jenkins, 1979) complete with five-point Likert scale, ranging from “no influence at all” to “all of the influence”. The third part provides some questions asking respondents regarding where they receive the information about Bali. The fourth part asking the respondents provide information such as frequency of visiting destination; how long have the couples been together and how the package tour was booked. Eventually, this questionnaire provides information related to socio-demographic variables, including gender, respondents’ age, occupation, monthly income, and the highest education level (Howard & Madrigal, 1990; Darley & Lim, 1986; Fodness, 1992). The ultimate version of the questionnaire items are refined through the purification process. Above all, this study invites three experts to examine the validity and reliability concerning the questionnaire. 350 valid questionnaires were collected (consists of 171 Taiwanese tourists and 179 Chinese tourists) which was adequate to questions only one spouse in summer period. There is merely one significant discrepancy exists between the wedded and unwedded couples in the decision-making stages, that is, “Information search” conducted under the joint decision making. The nature beauty and wellness services combined with evening entertainment are relatively satisfactory in Bali. During the check-in process, wellness tourists are supposed to be notified of all the spa-oriented services in the spa area. Overall, the satisfaction level of spa in Bali is exceedingly-high. With hindsight, customer service seems to be the greatest asset in Bali. The presented study is an unprecedented research focusing on the behavioral disparity between Taiwanese and Chinese spa tourists when it comes to decision-making stages. The results of this study unfurls the different decision making process between Taiwanese and Chinese couples; according to the research result, the unwedded couples possess more influence than the wedded couples in decision making stages. Moreover, the findings of this research do not entirely support earlier statement given by Tourism Queensland (2013), which mentioned considerable spa customers are female, married, and age approximately 34 to 52 year olds. According to our research, actually, men accounts for a quarter of spa users. The research result indicates the mini-tour is a niche business in the tourism industry that can both benefit Taiwan and Mainland China; mini-tour is a novel concept mentioned in a previous research, which focuses on seniors’ GPT (Wang et al., 2013). This study provides information concerning customer satisfaction level in Bali spa business and travel agency services. The sub-decisions regarding couple tourists are thoroughly researched. Therefore, this presented study can potentially bring benefits to all parties (spa providers, travel agencies, and spa goers); simultaneously, it contributes greatly to the theory of “decision-making”. In conclusion, there are three management implications. First, wedded women, who are the crucial patrons in the spa industry, have more influence in the spa travel decision-making. Therefore, the marketing planners shall regard women as significant decision makers. Nevertheless, unwedded couples are more influential in spa travel when comparing to wedded couples, hence, spa providers shall make spa facilities more enjoyable, romantic, and rivate. Second, sub-decisions are regarded relatively pivotal when it comes to couple tourists. The findings shed some light on several factors of “sub-decision,” which are considered crucial by couple tourists when buying spa package tour. Third, Indonesian government deems Taiwan and Mainland China markets as tremendously paramount, especially when it comes to spa travel to Bali (CNN, 2012). As far as travel agencies are concerned, they need to create more appealing mini-package tours based on customer demographic. For spa providers, in order to efficiently maximize their revenue, they shall improve spa quality and the affiliated facilities and services.

        PURPOSES: This investigational survey is to observe a proper spatial aggregation method for path travel time estimation using the hi-pass DSRC system. METHODS: The links which connect the nodes of section detectors location are used for path travel time estimation traditionally. It makes some problem such as increasing accumulation errors and processing times. In this background, the new links composition methods for spatial aggregation are considered by using some types of nodes as IC, JC, RSE combination. Path travel times estimated by new aggregation methods are compared with PBM travel times by MAE, MAPE and statistical hypothesis tests. RESULTS : The results of minimum sample size and missing rate for 5 minutes aggregation interval are satisfied except for JC link path travel time in Seoul TG~Kuemho JC. Thus, it was additionally observed for minimum sample size satisfaction. In 15, 30 minutes and 1 hour aggregation intervals, all conditions are satisfied by the minimum sample size criteria. For accuracy test and statistical hypothesis test, it has been proved that RSE, Conzone, IC, JC links have equivalent errors and statistical characteristics. CONCLUSIONS : There are some errors between the PBM and the LBM methods that come from dropping vehicles by rest areas. Consequently, this survey result means each of links compositions are available for the estimation of path travel time when PBM vehicles are missed.

        PURPOSES : Benefits for improvement of travel time reliability obtained from construction of new highways should be considered as a major factor in the feasibility study for highway constructions. The purpose of this study is to develop a method of estimation for the value of travel time reliability. METHODS : Highway type (urban/rural highway) and traffic flow type(interrupted/uninterrupted) was considered to estimate he value of travel time reliability. And Double-bounded Dichotomous Choice among Contingent Valuation Method(CVM) was applied to survey the willingness-to-pay of drivers when travel time reliability is improved. Finally the value of travel time reliability was estimated using the results of survey and logit model. The value of travel time reliability was estimated considering travel objectives, time constraint travel and non-time constraint travel. RESULTS: The value of travel time reliability of business trip is higher than that of non-business trip. The value of travel time reliability of time constraint travel is higher than that of non-time constraint travel. The value of travel time reliability in urban area is higher than that in rural area. CONCLUSIONS: It was concluded that the proposed method in this study is more realistic and proper to estimate the value of travel time reliability because it reflects the situations of time constraint travel and non-time constraint travel.

        이 논문은 ‘걸어서 세계 속으로’와 ‘세계 테마 기행’을 연구대상으로 삼아 여 행다큐멘터리의 표현방식의 차이가 장소재현에 어떤 차이를 가져오는지를 분석하였다. 표현방식을 서술자에 대한 서술방식과 시청각적 진술로 나누어 분석 한 결과, 전자의 서술자는 관광객의 입장에서 볼거리 위주의 고정되어 있는 미디 어의 장소를 재현하였고, 후자의 서술자는 관광지의 일상생활 속에 적극적으로 개 입하여 삶의 흔적을 드러내며 경험의 총체로서 실제의 장소를 재현하였다. 시청각 적 진술의 차이를 통해서도 두 다큐멘터리의 장소재현에 뚜렷한 차이를 발견할 수 있었다. ‘걸어서’는 매스 미디어를 통해 익히 알아온 정보와 관광명소를 한 번 더 보는듯한 인상을 주면서 평균화된 장소를 재현하였다. ‘세테기’는 관광객의 동선이 아닌 주민들의 삶의 동선을 따라가며 진술하면서 주민들 각자에게 고유하면서도 다면적인 장소를 재현하였다. 이 연구에서는 관광명소 중심의 일면적인 소개를 넘 어서서 여행지의 존재물들과 현지인들과의 상호작용을 다면적으로 보여주는 다양 한 형식의 여행다큐멘터리가 필요하다는 함의를 제시하였다.

        PURPOSES : The accuracy of travel time information is a key measure of effectiveness and reliability of advanced traveler information systems. This study aims at investigating drivers' perception on the acceptable level of information accuracy and their corresponding valuations. METHODS : A questionnaire survey was executed for collecting driver perception data to capture the expectation level of travel time information provided and their willingness to pay for the information. A Tobit model was adopted for exploring the relationship among the acceptable level, driver socioeconomic characteristics and travel attributes. Since drivers' willingness to pay for accurate travel time information can be different according to their travel lengths, a piecewise linear regression model was developed to capture the sensitivity of values of travel time information to travel length. RESULTS : The analysis results suggest that trip purpose and travel time are two dominant factors to determine drivers' acceptable level of travel time information. For business and short trips, drivers want more accurate information than for non-business and long trips. Drivers' willingness to pay for travel time information also varies depending on their incomes, trip purposes and travel lengths. The results also show that drivers' valuation of travel time information provided is sensitive to their travel length. For longer trips, drivers are less sensitive to travel time information and then put less value on the information provided. CONCLUSIONS : Censored nonlinear regression models are developed to estimate drivers' acceptable accuracy for travel time information and their valuation using questionnaire survey data. The findings on drivers perception to the required accuracy of travel time information and their corresponding willingness to pay can be used in the design and deployment of advanced traveler information system to improve its effectiveness and usefulness through high compliance.

        PURPOSES : Two-lane highways have one lane in each direction, and lane changing and passing maneuvers take place in the opposing lane depending on the availability of passing sight distance. 2001 Korea Highway Capacity Manual (KHCM) is classified into two classes of two-lane highways (Type I, II), and average travel speed and time-delayed rate are used as measures of effectiveness (MOEs). However, since existing two-lane highways have both uninterrupted and interrupted traffic flow-system elements, a variety of free-flow speeds exhibits in two-lane highways. In addition, it is necessary to check if the linear-relationship between volumes and time-delayed rate is appropriate. Then, this study is to reestablish the relationship between average travel speed, time-delayed rate, and flow. METHODS : TWOPAS model was selected to conduct this study, and the free-flow speeds of passenger cars and the percentage of following vehicles observed in two-lane highways were applied to the model as the input. The revised relationships were developed from the computer simulation. RESULTS : In the revised average travel speed vs. flow relationship, the free-flow speed of 90km/h and 70km/h were added. It shows that the relationship between time delayed-rate and flow appeared to be appropriate with the log-function form and that there was no difference in time-delayed rate between the free flow speeds. In addition to revise the relationships, the speed prediction model and the time-delayed rate prediction model were also developed. CONCLUSIONS : The revised relationships between average travel speed, time-delayed rate, and flow would be useful in estimating the Level of Service(LOS) of a two-lane highway.

        PURPOSES : Adverse weather conditions such as heavy rain, heavy snowfall, and thick fog and so on have highly affect on the change in traffic conditions on the road. In particular, heavy snowfall causes capacity reduction as well as crash occurrence. This study investigated the effects of snowfall on speed on a freeway. METHODS : Vehicle detection systems data were matched with corresponding weather station data by regression analysis. RESULTS : The results show that the travel speed is reduced by 6.7% under little snowfall and by 12.8% under heavy snowfall. Regarding the speed variation, 8.7% and 114.7% increases are observed under little snowfall and heavy snowfall, respectively. It is also found that 1 cm increase in snowfall leads to 0.4% decrease in travel speed. In addition, the travel speed increases by 0.4% when the temperature increases by 1℃. CONCLUSIONS : It is expected that the outcome of this study will be useful in establishing more effective strategies for winter operations and road maintenance in practice.

        본 연구에서는 운전자의 일관성 있는 교통 정보 학습과정을 기반으로 한 일별 동적 모형을 개발하였다. 개발된 모형은 교통 정보 서비스의 효과 분석이 가능한 형태의 체계를 갖추었다. 즉, 교통 시스템에는 교통 정보 서비스 업체(ISP, Information Service Provider)가 존재하며, ISP의 가입자는 과거 실시간 교통 정보를 제공받으며, 이를 바탕으로 경로를 선택한다. 반면, 교통 정보 미가입자는 개인의 경험 또는 친구, 교통방송 등을 통해서만 교통 정보를 학습하게 된다. 운전자의 경로 선택은 Boundedly-rational 모형으로 표현되었으며, 주어진 동적 통행 수요와 경로 선택에 따른 도로 교통망의 성능을 평가하기 위해 미시 교통 시뮬레이션 모형 (파라믹스)이 사용되었다. 개발된 모형은 실제 도로망에 적용되었으며, 도출된 결과는 개발된 모형의 수렴성과 일관성있는 교통 정보 학습 모형의 효과를 입증하였다.

        This paper presents an economic analysis for the travel aids service system for visually handicapped persons through RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). This research estimates both cost and economic effect of the service. By using input-output analysis technique, three kinds of repercussion effects - domestic production, value added, and workers induced by the travel aids service - are also calculated. To evaluate the profitability of the service, we investigate the procedures through which the service has an effect on the interested parties and develop formulas describing the procedures. The benefit of the service have been generally obtained by measuring the willingness to pay (WTP). This paper, however, obtains the monetary value of benefit by estimating the parameters of the formulas, so that a close improvement of the service may be possible with the result of the economic analysis.
