The growth characteristics according to temperature conditions were investigated in the breeding room of the Sericulture & Entomology Experiment Station for Oriental garden crickets(Teleogryllus emma Ohmachi et Matsuura) and Modeagali-crickests(Loxoblemmus doenitzi Stein) collected from the lawns of Byeonsan-myeon, Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do. The temperature conditions were 6 treatments from 15°C to 40°C at 5°C intervals using a multi-incubator, and the development period and mortality rate by age were compared using the 28°C breeding room conditions as a control. For T. emma, the higher the temperature, the shorter the total development period was, and the same trend was observed for the growth period by age stage. However, at low temperatures of 15°C and 20°C, all died after the third instar, and at high temperatures above 35°C, all died during development. At 25°C and 30°C, they developed normally, and the mortality rate was about 25%. The L. doenizi had the same tendency as the T. emma, with the higher the temperature, the shorter the development period. The total development period was 57.7 days at 25°C, which was similar to the T. emma's 55.9 days, and the mortality rate was the lowest at 44% at 25°C.

Information Communication Technology (ICT) diffuses to a mixed reception among academics, partly because the scope for pre-adoption experimentation needed for devising new practice is being eroded by the centralized nature of infrastructural controls that accompany initial ICT implementation. Corporate managers now leading Universities are coming to regard ICT as the key to implementing the transition from the modern „mass university” to the future “virtual university“ ( see table 3.1 in Delaney 2002). Clearly, face-to-face teaching is soon to be widely regarded as only one of the options in course-unit content delivery, especially if course-unit pre-requisites are to be relaxed in the interests of widening appeal and class sizes without generalizing content so much as to dilute quality, not to mention relevance. It is argued here that, in this context, online delivery should be in hypertext including links to relevant web sites, and that if the university cannot support the necessary net-ware, the hypertext can be distributed on CD with supporting documents, with teacher-student interaction served through a university web site and/or email system. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of expansion joint spacing (slab size) on the life cycle costs of owning Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) airfield pavements. Previous research has shown that slab size has a statistically significant impact on pavement performance. A probabilistic life cycle cost analysis was performed to determine if the effect of slab size on pavement performance would affect the total cost of ownership of PCC pavements. Data from 48 Pavement Condition Index (PCI) inspections of military and civilian airfields were used to develop probability-of-distress-by-condition curves, which were then used to develop probabilistic cost-of-repair-by-condition curves. A present worth life cycle cost analysis was then performed for various slab sizes, using construction costs, rehabilitation costs, and maintenance costs. Maintenance costs were determined by assuming a condition deterioration rate appropriate for each slab size and applying the cost-by-condition curves. The probabilistic cost-of-repair-by-condition curves indicated that smaller slabs are more expensive to repair on a unit cost basis. Life cycle cost analysis showed that larger slabs have a higher total cost of ownership than smaller slabs due to a faster rate of deterioration.
