        The curb weight of electric trucks is more than 10% higher than that of conventional internal combustion engine trucks due to the motor and battery. For this reason, cargo box developed for small electric trucks is required weight reduction, and cargo door that can reduce weight and maintain strength are being developed. In this paper, we designed the lightweight cargo door, confirmed the stability of the door through structural analysis, and developed a cargo box door that was more than 25% lighter by applying composite materials such as Sheet Molding Compound(SMC) and Fiber Reinforced Plastic(FRP).

        PURPOSES : Unlike European standards, domestic performance assessment standards for truck mounted attenuators (TMAs) was first stipulated in 2014 using the NCHRP Report 350 of 1993 as the standard instead of the 2009 MASH of the United States. The purpose of this study is to present an improvement in the domestic performance evaluation criteria for TMAs.. METHODS : Considering the latest TMA performance evaluation standards in the U.S. and Europe, domestic performance evaluation criteria must improve stipulations related to impact speeds, impact conditions, impact cars, and support trucks. The performance change in the TMAs according to the variation in the impact speed, impact condition, impact vehicle, and support vehicle was investigated using finite element analysis (FEA). RESULTS : The TMA for an impact speed of 100 km/h showed a limit to the safety of the occupants of the collision vehicle and workers on the road for a collision speed of 120 km/h. The safety of the workers on the road was also not guaranteed for the collision of the remaining 73.8% of vehicles that exceeds the maximum impact car weight of 1,300 kg, the lower 26.2% of the total mass composition of domestic passenger cars. In addition, a TMA that satisfied only the conditions under which the vehicle was hit head-on to the center of the TMA did not reduce the risk of a secondary collision of the impact vehicle. Furthermore, the safety of workers on the road was not guaranteed when a travel distance of a support truck of 10 tons or more was applied to a work vehicle of less than 10 tons. CONCLUSIONS : To improve the safety of road traffic, a performance level corresponding to an impact speed of 120 km/h was added to the domestic TMA performance evaluation standard, and the eccentricity and oblique collision conditions were mandatory. Furthermore, the maximum impact vehicle weight of 1300 kg was raised to 2000 kg, and the test requester had to present support trucks of lower and upper weights such that TMA mounting trucks of various weights could be used.

        In this study, in order to review the structural stability of a Sub-frame assembly mounted on a 5-ton dump truck with a telescopic cylinder type that can secure price competitiveness through cost reduction effect and an extended loading box that satisfies automobile safety standards, the 3D shape design technique for a main component parts is presented. In addition, structural analysis based on the finite element method is performed with the load condition applied to a safety factor 3.0 and boundary condition assigned to the lower part of the Sub-frame. By comparing and examining the maximum stress result from the structural analysis of the entire Sub-frame assembly and individual component and a yield strength of each material applied to each component, a design technique that can assure the structural stability of the Sub-frame assembly is presented.

        Many manufacturers applying third party logistics (3PLs) have some challenges to increase their logistics efficiency. This study introduces an effort to estimate the weight of the delivery trucks provided by 3PL providers, which allows the manufacturer to package and load products in trailers in advance to reduce delivery time. The accuracy of the weigh estimation is more important due to the total weight regulation. This study uses not only the data from the company but also many general prediction variables such as weather, oil prices and population of destinations. In addition, operational statistics variables are developed to indicate the availabilities of the trucks in a specific weight category for each 3PL provider. The prediction model using XGBoost regressor and permutation feature importance method provides highly acceptable performance with MAPE of 2.785% and shows the effectiveness of the developed operational statistics variables.

        In order to develop a 1 ton truck rear wheel air suspension module, this study designed and manufactured a Z-type spring and air suspension module test jig to optimize the design and reliability of the Z-type spring and vibration-free air suspension module, which are core parts, and to secure the reliability of the developed parts. We were able to achieve the technology development goal of this thesis by making a prototype and conducting a test evaluation at an external test and research institute to perform the vibration endurance test aimed in this study.

        PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to disseminate the process of deriving the truck performance curve of Korea’s representative trucks in detail such that the relevant experts can use it in the future when re-selecting the representative trucks and deriving the truck performance curve accordingly. METHODS : To collect relevant data required to derive the truck performance curve, this study used four trucks that implemented the weight/power of the nation’s representative trucks, and conducted a practical driving test on four different upgrade sections. RESULTS : The truck performance curve was derived for each driving position to represent the deceleration and acceleration capabilities of the truck through the actual driving test on the upgrade sections. CONCLUSIONS : The truck performance curve derived from this study indicated that the truck’s deceleration and acceleration capabilities increased as the total weight/power of Korea’s representative trucks improved, and the design of the climbing lane demonstrated that the design method used in this study saved approximately 60% of the construction cost compared to the existing method.

        This study aims to respond to the market of Tata Daewoo commercial vehicles in emerging countries (Southeast Asia) lightweight and cost-saving type for the production of dump trucks with secured price competitiveness requested to develop a square deck, and accordingly. This study is a 15-ton dump modified the reinforcement frame of the side gate to reduce the weight of the new truck model deck. It is designed to maintain the strength of 80% or more of the existing gate by (reducing input material). The system and structure rationalization proceeded.

        In this study, the structural analyses were conducted for each model by applying the loads into the design of a large commercial truck seat. Model C with three vertical frames has the smallest total deformation among all models, indicating the strongest stiffness. The maximum total deformation of model C was shown to be 0.68 times smaller than that of model A and 0.79 times smaller than that of model B. The equivalent stress of model C was also shown to be the lowest, indicating the greatest stiffness. The maximum equivalent stress of model C was shown to be 0.8 times smaller than that of model A and 0.91 times smaller than that of model B. At the upper part of the seat or the part where the force was applied, all three models were shown to have the largest total deformations and equivalent stresses. If the result of this study is applied to the design of automotive seat frame, it is thought that the durable and rigid sheets can be manufactured efficiently. By utilizing this study result, the equivalent stress and total deformation are investigated without the real experiment by shape at the seat of large commercial truck, and the durability and rigidity can be seen.

        덤프 트럭 데크의 경량화를 통한 연료 소비를 줄이고 에코 친화적인 설계를 위해서는 정확한 구조 분석이 필요하다. 지금까지 데크의 하중은 정수압 또는 토압 이론을 기반으로 계산되었다. 이 방법으로 데크의 하중 불균일을 계산할 수 없다. 하중 분포는 골재 입자의 크기 분포 및 상호 작용에 따라 달라진다. 이산요소법은 유한요소법보다 효과적으로 골재의 거동을 시뮬레이션할 수 있다. 본 논문에 서는 벌크 밀도와 안식각을 측정하여 주요 특성을 얻었다. 15톤 덤프 트럭 데크는 범핑, 브레이킹 및 회전 시의 운동 조건을 적용하여 얻은 하중을 사용했다. 시뮬레이션은 이산요소해석 소프트웨어인 EDEM을 사용했다. 데크의 응력 및 변형 분포는 NASTRAN에 의해 계산되었다. 측정된 값과 비교하였고, 이를 통해 DEM 시뮬레이션의 결과는 수학적 가정에 의한 결과보다 정확함을 확인하였다.

        This paper considers the problem of scheduling loading and unloading operations of a crane in a railway terminal motivated from rail-road container transshipment operations at Uiwang Inland Container Depot (ICD). Unlike previous studies only considering the total handling time of containers, this paper considers a bi-criteria objective of minimizing the weighted sum of the total handling time and tenant service time. The tenant service time is an important criterion in terms of terminal tenants who are private logistics companies in charge of moving containers from/to the terminal using their trucks. In the rail-road container shipment yard, the tenant service time of a tenant can be defined by a time difference between beginning and finishing loading and unloading operations of a crane. Thus, finding a set of sequences and time of the crane operations becomes a crucial decision issue in the problem. The problem is formulated as a nonlinear program which is improved by linearizing a nonlinear constraint in the model. This paper develops a genetic algorithm to solve the problem and performs a case study on the Uiwang ICD terminal. Computational experiment results show that the genetic algorithm shows better performance than commercial optimization solvers. Operational implications in terms of tenants are drawn through sensitivity analyses.
