고산 윤선도가 보길도에 조성한 세 곳의 원림을 대상으로 하여 원림 경관의 특징을 살펴 본 결과 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 첫째, 윤선도의 원림 조영과 관련하여 그에게 영향을 미쳤던 사상과 철학은 유교, 불교와 도교의 습합에 의한것이라고 하겠다. 그 중에서도 특히 중요한 역할을 한 것은 유교와 도교의 사상이었다. 둘째, 연보를 통하여 볼 때원림 조성의 특징이 해전의 개발에서 습득된 지식과 여러 차례의 유배에서 오는 심적, 육체적 고통을 극복하기 위한과정의 결과라는 점이다. 셋째, 보길도 원림은 풍수지리에 의한 공간구성이 한 특징이다. 낙서재 영역은 자신의 수양과독선을 위한 공간으로 사용되었으며 소은병과 귀암 등이 풍수지리에 의한 것으로 보여진다. 반면 곡수당 영역은 자제와제자들의 교육과 거처를 위한 공간으로 사용되었는데 원지와 계류 조성에서 볼 수 있었다. 동천석실 원림은 낙서재의안산이라는 풍수지리 측면에서 비보풍수로 사용되기 위해 조성된 원림으로 자연의 암반 조건을 활용하여 수공간과 전망공간을 조성하였다는 특징이 있다. 세연정 원림 또한 풍수지리 측면에서 출수구의 흉격을 비보하기 위해 세연지와물막이 댐을 설치하였는데 이 연못은 수류 조절 기능을 부여하면서 연속적인 경관을 연출하는 독특한 원림으로 파악되었다.넷째, 세연정의 연속적 경관을 연출하기 위해 경관점을 다중으로 설정하고 대경의 미를 연출하였다는 점에서 수경관의극치를 보여주었다.이상의 연구를 통해 볼 때 고산 윤선도는 자연의 지형조건과 풍수지리, 그리고 의경의 미학이 함께 어우러지는독특한 그만의 원림미학을 완성하였던 예술가였다.

This study aimed to discover the characteristics of garden landscapes created by Gosan Yoon Sun-Do at Bogildo. The results are as follows. His gardens were based on a philosophical mix of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. Among them, Confucianism and Taoism are the most important. Yoon’s gardens are characterized by his knowledge of developing sea fields and his conquest of psychological and physical suffering during several periods of exile. The spatial alignment of the gardens at Bogildo comes from an adaptation of feng shui. Nakseojae has feng shui treatment of Soeunbyung(small hide folding screen) and Guiam(turtle rock), which was used for his growth and self-righteousness. Goksudang has garden ponds and a valley that were used for his children’s . Dongcheonsuksil has Ansan for Bibo Feng Shui(supplement of lack), which introduced water landscapes and perspectives. Seyonjeong has ponds and a small weir to counteract the bad feng shui position of the water outlet. This pond also has multiple functions to control the water flow and provide sequential views. Seyonjeng has multiple points of view of scenery that show the beauty of the landscape. Yoon Sun-Do and his garden aesthetics come from a unique mixture of natural topological condition, the theoretical background of feng shui, and the beauty of the landscape.
