본 연구는 교육에서 내러티브가 점유하고 있는 가치와 그 본원적 의미에 대해서 진지하게 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 오늘날 내러티브는 교육을 비롯하여 다양한 학문과 삶의 영역에 주목을 받으며 일종의 새로운 양식과 유행, 대세와 같이 받아들여지고 있다. 내러티브는 종래의 실증적이고 과학적인 해법에서 인간 그 자체로 회귀하여 인류 역사와 원초적인 사회적 관계 속에서 인간 문명이 안고 있는 근본적인 문제들에 대한 대안으로서 성격을 가지고 있다. 우선적으로 내러티브 이론이 발아했던 철학과 미학, 그리고 문예비평 연구의 연역에서 내러티브의 주제가 어떻게 규명되고 있는지 철학적으로 논의하였다. 이러한 내러티브는 인간의 정체성이 내러티브적으로 구성됨을 밝힘으로써 교육의 이론을 재개념화하고 실천을 재구성하는데 기여한다. 이로써 내러티브에 기초한 교육은 근대적 교육관에 기반을 둔 이성적 인간으로서가 아니라 내러티브 정체성에 기초하여 미학적이고 감성적이며 전 영역을 통합하고 총괄하는 다차원적인 교육의 인간상으로 구상되고 진정한의미에서 인간성의 회복을 도모함으로써 교육의 인간주의를 실현할 것이다.

The purpose of this study is to discuss the philosophical meaning about the value and nature of narrative in education. Nowadays there is a now a growing trend for researcher to search the importance of narrative in educational terrain. Ricoeur's interpretation of narrative receives special attention. Narrative identity is once again on the spotlight. In the vein of narrative unity, education and narrative have become popular. This study consists of philosophical meaning of narrative and narrative construction of human being. It should be emphasized that philosophical meaning of narrative play a key role on re-conceptualizing educational theory and re-understanding human nature. Now education as discipline and practical area of study should pay
attention to narrative and making stories.
