경남농업기술원 화훼육종연구소에서 1997년부터 교 배조합 육성을 위하여 국내의 재배농가와 종묘업체로 부터 유전자원을 수집한 후, 1999년부터 2006년에 걸 쳐 교배 및 계통선발육종을 하였다. ’2003년부터 2005년까지 3회의 특성검정을 거쳐서 호접란 신품종 督탤짹莽을 개발하였다. 督탤짹莽은 백색계 꽃으로 설 판은 적색을 띤 대륜계 품종이다. 꽃 크기가 11cm 이 상이 될 정도로 꽃이 크며 화형은 둥글고 꽃잎이 겹 쳐 아름다운 모양을 가진다. 또한 꽃배열도 우수하며 꽃수도 많은 편이다. 엽색은 연한 녹색이며 생육속도도 빠르고 재배하기가 용이하다. 평균 꽃 수명 또한 55일 이상으로 길어 시장성이 높다고 판단된다.

A new cultivar ‘Shintaeguek’ of Phalaenopsis (P. Blume) was developed by cross breeding and line selection at the Flower Breeding Research Institute, Gyeongnam ARES, from 1999 to 2006. Characteristic trials for this cultivar was carried out three times from 2003 to 2005. ‘Shintaeguek’ was developed from a crossing between ‘Dtps. City Girl C’ and ‘Dtps. I-shin Actor KH 5213’. It has a white flower color with red lip, large flower and favorable flower shape. It also is good for flower arrangement, and life span of flower was longer than 55 days. This new cultivar was registered for commercialization in 2006, and would be cultured under greenhouse conditions in Korea.
