Effect of NH4 +:NO3 − Ratio of Nutrient Solution on Growth of Plug Transplants Obtained from Cormlets Produced In Vitro of Gladiolus gandavenesis L.
실험식물로는 Gladiolus gandavenesis L. ‘Spic and Span’과 ‘Nova Lux’를 사용하였다.
Effect of NH4 +:NO3 − ratio in nutrient solution on growth and yield of cormels and plants of Gladiolus gandavenesis L. ‘Spic and Span’ and ‘Nova Lux’ was examined. Plants were started from cormlets cultured in vitro and were sprouted in 50-cell plug trays filled with a mixture of peatmoss and granular rockwool (1:1, v/v) under a fog system. Sprouted plants were transferred to a glasshouse and were overhead irrigated with nutrient solutions containing nitrogen at a 0:100, 25:75, 50:50, 75:25 or 100:0 NH4 +:NO3 − ratio. Each 50-cell tray with 50 plants was considered as a replicate and each treatment had four replicates laid out in a complete randomized block design. First growth measurement was done on Aug. 17 and cormlets were harvested over a period of time thereafter as the shoot dried and lost leaves. Top growth such as plant height, number of leaves and emergence were not significantly affected by NH4 +:NO3 − ratio, although treatments with 50:50 NH4 +:NO3 − gave the greatest leaf width in ‘Spic and Span’ and the best growth overall in ‘Nova Lux’. Diameter, height and fresh weight of cormlets produced showed a tendency to increase as NH4 + ratio increased. However, number of cormels produced increased with increasing ratio of NO3 − in ‘Spic’ and Span and with increasing ratio of NH4 + in ‘Nova Lux’.
