본 연구는 다문화인(人)으로서 다문화강사들의 한국 다문화교육에 관한 의견을 통해 현행 다문화교육의 문제점과 개선 방안을 알아보고, 이를 토대로 미래 한국 사회에 다문화교육이 제대로 정립할 수 있는 초석 자료를 마련하는데 그 목적을 두었다. 본 연구는 질적 연구 방법을 선택하였다. 다문화인(人)으로서의 다문화강사 3인과 라포(rapport) 형성을 위해 그들이 진행하는 다문화교육 현장 수업에 참여하였다. 면담법을 연구기법으로 하여 그들과의 심층면접을 진행했으며, 면담 내용을 토대로 자료수집을 하였다. 한국 다문화교육의 현황과 연구 참여자 3인 모두의 의견을 종합한 결과, 다문화인(人)으로서의 다문화강사 관점에서 분석한 한국 다문화교육의 문제점은 다문화교육의 실제와 다른 한국 사회의 현실 문제로 나타났다. 또한, 다문화교육의 개선 방안은 다문화교육의 내실화와 다문화교육 정책의 체계화로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국 다문화교육의 문제 개선을 위한 과제로 배움의 기회들을 적극 활용하여 문화 차이에서 기인하는 갈등을 극복하고자 하는 여성결혼이민자 본인의 노력과 가족구성원들의 노력은 당연히 필요하며, 이들을 인정하고 함께하려는 한국 사회 일반구성원들의 의식 변화, 학생·교사·학부모들과 같은 교육당사자들의 협조와 이해 등 다양한 방면에서 많은 노력이 필요하다. 둘째, 다양성·지속성·일관성이 부족한 다문화교육을 개선하는 방법으로, 다문화적 자긍심과 성취의 전형이 될 수 있는 모델들을 발굴하여 이를 교육적으로 제시할 필요가 있다. 더하여, 지금 여러 곳에서 진행 중인 ‘찾아가는 다문화교육’을 제도적으로 학교 교육(공교육 과정)에 자리 잡을 수 있도록 추진하는 것도 다문화교육의 지속성을 위한 좋은 방법이 될 것이다.
The purpose of this study was to examine problems and improvement plans for Korea's multiculture education through the opinion of multiculture instructors as multiculturalists about Korea's multiculture education. As a research method for this study, a qualitative research method was selected in order to empirically seek a research problem. After synthesizing the present status of Korea's multiculture education and the opinions of all three research participants, the following results could be obtained as for problems about Korea's multiculture education and improvement plans for Korea's multiculture education. The problems about Korea's multiculture education, which were analyzed from the perspective of multiculture instructors as multiculturalists, were indicated to be the substance of multiculture education and the realistic problem about other Korean society. The improvement plans for Korea's multiculture education, which were analyzed from the perspective of multiculture instructors as multiculturalists, were indicated to be the substantiation of multiculture education and the systematization of multiculture education policy. The following conclusions could be made by synthesizing the above results. First, in order to overcome a conflict, which originates from cultural difference, by positively utilizing opportunities of learning as the task for improving problems about Korea's multiculture education, there is naturally a need of an effort in married immigrant women themselves and of an effort of family members. Second, as a method for improving multiculture education that is lacking in diversity·continuity· consistency, there is a need of suggesting this educationally by excavating models available for being a pattern of multicultural pride and achievement.
