이 연구의 목적은 유치원의 자유 선택 활동 시간에 유아의 놀이 선택과 실행 과정에서 놀이 계획, 수행, 평가가 일련의 과정으로 어느 정도 일치하여 나타나고 있으며, 유아의 성별과 놀이성에 따라 차이가 있는지를 알아보는 데 있다. 이를 위해 만 5세 유아 16명을 대상으로 자유 선택 활동 시간에 21회 참여 관찰을 하여 그 결과를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 유아의 놀이 선택과 실행의 평균 일치율은 60.24%이었다. 일치율이 높은 놀이 영역은 미술과 쌓기놀이, 수․조작, 역할놀이였으며 낮은 영역은 음률이었다. 유아 1인 1일 평균 영역 선택 수는 3.18이었으며, 1영역 평균 놀이 수행 시간은 23분이었다. 둘째, 성별에 따른 놀이 선택과 실행의 선호 영역과 일치 정도는 남아는 쌓기놀이와 미술, 여아는 역할놀이와 미술을 선호하였으며, 일치 정도는 쌓기놀이와 음률에서 성별간에 유의한 차이가 있었다. 셋째, 유아의 놀이성 수준에 따라 놀이의 선택과 실행은 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 이러한 연구 결과는 자유 선택 활동의 놀이 선택과 실행에서 가장 중요한 기준은 유쾌함 즐기기에 근거하고 있음을 검증해주고 있다고 본다.

This study was to investigate how is the concordance of play plan, practice, and evaluation manifested in the hours of free choice activities in the kindergarten, and to examine how the concordance is different according to the gender and the playfulness of children. A total of 21 participatory observation sessions was conducted with 16 five-year-old children, and the collected data was analyzed. The results of this study were as follows: First, the average concordance rate of children's play choice and practice was 60.24%. The interest areas with high concordance were art, blocks, manipulatives, and dramatic play, and interest area with low concordance was music. A child's average play choice frequency of interest areas was 3.18 per a day, and the average play practice time was 23 minutes per area. Second, boys preferred blocks and art, and girls preferred dramatic play and art, and the degree of the concordance showed significant difference in blocks and music by gender. Third, the concordance of play choice and practice showed no significant difference by the level of playfulness of children. The results of this research verified the importance of enjoying the pleasurableness of the play itself as a standard of play choice and practice of free choice activities.
