이 논문은 남한지역 청동기시대 전기의 상한과 하한을 검토한 편년연구이다. 먼저 청동기시대의 시기구분은 조기(미사리유형)-전기(미사리유형,가락동유형,역삼동·흔암리유형)-후기(송국리유형,역삼동유형,북한강유형,검단리유형)의 3단계로 나누었다. 전기단계는 조기에 이어지는 미사리식토기의 존속, 여기에 가락동식·흔암리식·역삼동식토기가 사용된 시기이며, 마제석검과 청동기가 제작되었다. 이와 함께 취락구성에 있어서 장방형 또는 세장방형의 대형주거가 중심을 이루며, 정형화된 분묘와 환호취락의 등장 역시 전기청동기문화의 주요 구성요소에 해당한다. 특히 비파형동검을 모방한 혈구이 단병식마제석검이 성행한 점에서 비파형동검문화기로 볼 수 있으며, 마제석검만 존재한 선동검기와 비파형동검기로 세분된다. 전기 청동기문화의 상한은 미사리식·가락동식·역삼동식토기 등이 지역성을 보이는 기원전 12~13세기로, 하한은 역삼동식토기가 주체를 점하는 시기로서 기원전 9~10세기로 추정된다. 한편 이와 같은 절대연대는 동아시아적인 관점에서 중국의 기년명자료와 공반유물의 검토를 통한 비교연대 연구를 병행하면서 검증할 필요가 있다.

This paper mainly concerns on time span, especially the upper and lower limit of EarlyBronze Age in South Korea. The early part of Bronz Age can be divided into three subperiods: Initial (Misari-type assem-blage), Early (Misari-type assemblage, Garakdong-type assemblage, Yuksamdong-Hunamri-typeassemblage), and Middle (Songgukri-type assemblage, Yuksamdong-type assemblage. NorthHan River-type assemblage, Gumdanri-type assemblage)The Early Bronze Age can be characterized continuation of Misari-type assemblages prevalentin the former stages, and emergence of Garakdong-, Yuksamdong- and Hunamri-type assem-blages. The assemblages commonly include polished stone dagger and bronze implements, and(long) rectangular dwellings. In addition, the advent of standardized tombs and enclosed settle-ments can be named as of the Early Bronze Age.Especially, through the prevalence of two stairs shaft type polished stone dagger copying theLiaoning-type bronze dagger, this period might be called the Liaoning bronze dagger period ,and it is broken down into the pre-bronze dagger period and the Liaoning bronze dagger period.The upper limit of Early Bronze Age in South Korea, on the one hand, can be dated to thir-teenth or twelfth century BC, while the lower limit could be dated is the period, on the otherhand, tenth or ninth century BC.Nevertheless, the absolute dates mentioned above could be modified in comparison toChinese dates.
