팔레놉시스 ‘Ice Angel’ 품종은 국립원예특작과학원에서 2010년도에 육성한 신품종이다. 이 품종은 2000년에백색계 중형종 P. ‘Thimothy Christoper’와 P. ‘KM7’를교배하여 얻은 후대 계통 중에서 선발되었다. 2005~2009년에 2회의 특성검정과 계통 평가회를 거쳐 ‘Ice Angel’이라 명명하였다. ‘Ice Angel’는 꽃잎과 꽃받침이 백색계(WN 155D)이며 순판의 끝열편에 노랑색 작은 무늬(Y9A)와 측열편에 연분홍 줄무늬(RP61B)가 있다. 식물체의 크기는 엽장이 11.7cm 꽃의 크기가 6.6cm(화폭)인중형품종이다. 엽형은 반직립성의 잎자세를 가지고 있으며 생육이 강건하고 빠르며 기내증식이 매우 쉬운 품종이다.

Phalaenopsis (P.) ‘Ice Angel’ was developed bythe National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science(NIHHS), Rural Development Administration (RDA) in 2010.A crossing was made between P. ‘Thimothy Christoper’with white and small sized flower, and P. ‘KM7’ with whiteand medium sized plant in 2000. ‘Ice Angel’ was finallyselected in 2010 after the investigation of the growth andflower characteristics among hybrid seedlings from 2005 to2009. ‘Ice Angel’ had a pure white (WN155D) petal andsepal with a white lip (Y9A). The average leaf length andflower width of ‘Ice Angel’ were 11.7cm and 6.6cm,respectively. It had a half erect and round leaf form and afast vigorous growing cultivar. Further, this hybrid isrelatively easy to make clones.
