This present study proposes a practical strengthening technique for enhancing the in-plane shear strength and ductility of unreinforced masonry walls using the unbonded prestressed wire ropes. Four full-scale masonry walls were tested under constant axial load and cyclic lateral loads. Test results revealed that the developed strengthening procedure was highly effective in enhancing the in-plane shear strength and ductility of masonry walls and controlling crack propagation along head and bed mortar joints
