본 연구는 연구자의 대학생 시절 멕시코에서의 교환학생 경험을 셀프 내러티브 연구 방법을 적용하여 무엇을 경험하였으며, 교육적 경험을 통해 우리 교육에 어떤 점을 시사 할 수 있는지를 탐구하였다. 성찰일지를 바탕으로 한 내러티브는 교환학생 프로그램 경 험의 시작에서부터 끝에 이르기까지의 서사적인 전개과정으로, 다음과 같은 결과를 도 출하였다. 멕시코에서의 교육을 통해 학습자 및 실제 중심의 언어교육의 필요성, 사이버 강의의 질 개선 및 구체적인 수업정보 제공, 그리고 삶으로써의 교양교육을 제시하였다. 더불어 연구자는 인생의 가치관과 의미를 교환학생경험을 통해 재정립할 수 있었다. 이 러한 셀프 내러티브 연구를 통해 기존의 질적 선행 연구들과 달리 한 개인의 교환학생 경험을 더욱 총체적이고 구체적으로 탐구할 수 있었다.

This study explores what a researcher has experienced while participating in a student exchange program and investigates some points from Mexican education. For these, this study has applied a self-narrative inquiry. Based on reflection papers, a narrative became a story which described the start to the end of student exchange program experience and drew the following conclusions: necessity of studentcentered and practical language education, improvement of cyber classes, provision of concrete class information, and liberal education as a life. Furthermore, a researcher could redefine values and meanings of life. With this self-narrative inquiry, a researcher could explore exchange student's experience more synthetically and concretely in contrast with advanced qualitative research.
