본 연구는, 시각디자인 분야에 다양하고 폭 넓게 활용할 수 있는 동적 이미지의 시각효과에 대한 연구의 일환으로, 동적 이미지에 대한 적극적인 조형적 해석을 통해 현대조형의 흐름에 큰 영향을 끼친 퓨처리즘의 조형이념과 그 영향에 대한 검토를 실시하였다. 논고에 있어서는, 퓨처리즘의 조형이념이 당시 이탈리아의 시대적 배경과 밀접하게 관련되어 있으며, 그 영향이 당시대의 작가들은 물론, 다양하게 전개되어 가는 전위예술운동에 까지 미치고 있다는 점을 주목하여, 이에 관련된 저서나 관련문헌을 중심으로 다각적인 고찰을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 퓨처리즘의 등장에 직접적 계기가 되는 시대적 배경과 조형이념, 그리고 이후 전위예술운동에 미친 영향 등이 구체적으로 확인되었다. 퓨처리즘의 등장 배경에는 당시 유럽의 공업화 흐름과 상대적으로 그 흐름에 소외되었던 이탈리아 공업화의 후진성이 맞물려 있었다. 특히 움베르토 보쵸니 등 5명의 퓨처리스트가 기치를 올린 밀라노는 이탈리아의 대표적인 공업도시였지만, 과거의 전통과 격렬한 사회적 충돌의 개연성이 심각하게 내재되어 있었다. 이에 퓨처리즘은, 과거의 뿌리 깊은 전통과 유물이 남아 있던 이탈리아 공업화의 후진적 잔재를 일소하기 위해, 기계문명의 역동성을 조형이념으로 승화시켜 급진적 쇄신을 시도한 것이다. 퓨처리즘의 조형이념은 이후 점차 독일이나 러시아, 동유럽 등으로 확산되었으며, 이 과정에서 다양한 작가와 전위예술운동에 영향을 주고받게 된다. 특히, 초기에는 큐비즘과 퓨리즘 등의 영향을 받았지만, 그 후 페르낭 레제, 로베르 들로네, 프란티젝 쿠프카, 마르셀 뒤샹 등에게 영향을 끼친 흔적이 보인다. 또한 러시아 구성주의와 다다이즘, 쉬르리얼리즘은 물론 앵포르멜, 공간주의, 그리고 환경예술 등에 이르기까지 퓨처리즘의 조형이념과 표현형식의 흔적이 엿보여 퓨처리즘의 영향이 광범위하고 연속적이었음이 시사하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 이후 연구과제로서 다양한 전위예술운동의 흐름과 함께 변천을 거듭해 가는 퓨처리즘의 동적 이미지 표현형식에 대한 검토를 실시해 가도록 하겠다.

This study, as a part of the research on the visual effect of dynamic image which can be used diversely and widely in the field of visual design, conducted the research on formative ideas of Futurism that had a great influence on the stream of modern Art & Design, and the examination of its influences through the aggressive formative interpretations on dynamic image. As for its argument, this study, by taking note of the fact that the formative ideas of Futurism are closely associated with the time setting of Italy at that time, and its influence has reached up to diversely developing campaign for avant garde art, let alone the authors of the time, did multilateral consideration with focus on its related books or literature. As a result, this study was able to concretely confirm the influences on the time setting, ideas of Art & Design, which became a direct momentum to the emergence of Futurism, and later avant garde art movement, etc. In the background of the emergence of Futurism, the flow of European industrialization at that time was interlocked with the backwardness of Italian industrialization which was relatively estranged from the flow. Particularly, Milan, where 5 futurists including Umberto Boccioni raised their banners high, was a representative industrial town of Italy, but there seriously inhered the probability of vehement social collision with the past traditions in Milan.
Accordingly, Futurism, in an effort to get rid of the backward vestiges of industrialization of Italy where deep-rooted traditions and relics still remained, attempted a radical reform by sublimating the dynamism of machine civilization into the ideas of Art&Design. The ideas of Art & Design pursued by Futurism gradually spread over to Germany, Russia, and Eastern Europe, etc. and in this process, Futurism got to have an influence on or to be influenced by various authors and the avant garde art movement. Particularly, in its early period, Futurism was influenced by Cubism and Purism, etc., but afterwards, there remains a vestige of affecting Fernand Leger, Robert Delaunay, Franciszek Kupka, and Marcel Duchamp, etc. In addition, the vestiges of the formative ideas and expression forms of Futurism are glimpsed not only from the Constructivism in Russia, Dadaism, Surrealism but also from Informel, Spatialism, and Environmental Art, suggesting the influence of Futurism was far-reaching and consecutive. Accordingly, this study is going to conduct the examination over the forms of expression of the dynamic image of Futurism which has been repeating its transitions together with diverse avant garde art movements as its later research theme.
