유니버설디자인의 개념이 적용되었으리라는 가정 하에 한일월드컵이 개최되었던 한국과 일본의 월드컵 스타디움의 시설과 스포츠의 진흥방안을 연구하였다. 일본의 경우에는 스타디움에 접근하기 위한 가장 인접한 지하철역과 스타디움의 연결 부분이 보도, 슬로프 카, 엘리베이터, 에스컬레이터 등 일반인과 장애인이 신체적 조건에 따라 선택하여 이용할 수 있게 되어있다. 한국의 경우는 접근성에는 문제가 있지만 내부 시설에서 장애인석과 일반인석을 혼용 배치한 것은 일본의 시설보다 더욱 유니버설디자인의 접목이 뛰어나다고 평가할 수 있다. 이와 같은 물리적인 접근성외에 정보적 접근성도 높여야할 것이다. 예를 들면 필담기, 커뮤니케이션보드, 점자지도 등을 배치하거나 미리 정보를 이용자에게 제공하여 사전 인지가 가능하도록 하는 사례는 우리가 하루빨리 도입해야할 사례로 파악되었다.

This study is about sports' promotion plan and the World Cup stadium facilities of Korea and Japan hosting the Korea-Japan World Cup assuming they're adapted ideas of universal design. In case of Japan, a subway station adjacent to the stadium and the stadium's connection includes elevator, escalator, slope car, sidewalk, and so on, so people can choose and use them according to their own physical condition. In case of Korea, there's a problem of accessibility but it's inside facilities are superior to Japan applying universal design because it arranges seats mixing for both the disabled and not. Above this physical accessibility, informative accessibility should be improved. For example, we should make people be able to recognize in advance arranging communication board, braille map, and so on and providing information previously.
